My Superpower Is Piloting Magical Girl Corpses?
Chapter 29: The Unorthodox ElfSu Fang glanced left and right, then turned her head in disbelief, her voice sounding shaky: “Are you sure we’re in the right place?”
“This looks like some small company on the verge of going under… how could the Sacred Tree possibly be somewhere like this?”
Airwen didn’t say a word, only silently pointed at an inconspicuous corner of the hall.
Su Fang and Lin Guang followed her finger with their gaze.
There, they saw a plain ceramic flowerpot, inside of which was planted a withered little tree only half a person tall, with leaves that had yellowed and wilted.
If no one had said anything, Lin Guang might have even mistaken it for a money tree.
Su Fang froze for a moment, then her pupils contracted in shock: “That thing couldn’t be…”
Before she could even utter the words “the Sacred Tree,” she saw Airwen nod seriously.
“… Is this a joke?”
Watching Airwen’s utterly expressionless face, Su Fang’s smile gradually froze, her voice trailing off into near silence.Woo—
The kettle on top of the cabinet suddenly let out a sharp, piercing whistle.
Bang!
As soon as the water boiled, a loud crash followed, and the thick wooden cabinet door was kicked open from the inside by something.
The faint music that had been playing suddenly became crystal clear. To the beat of a lively rhythm, a bird the size of a soccer ball drifted lightly out of the cabinet.
Su Fang and Lin Guang’s eyes shot wide open.
In that instant, they finally saw a fantasy creature that simply could not exist in the normal world.
It was a blazing crimson phoenix.
Unlike any bird in reality, this creature was covered in dazzling, ruby-red feathers. Its eyes were golden, and its long tail feathers drifted gracefully like several red silk ribbons, dancing elegantly through the air, radiating a warm glow that wasn’t hot to the touch.
It looked like a flame spirit that had flown straight out of a fairy tale picture book, both divine and adorable.
But its attire was utterly jarring. Perched on that delicate little head was a pair of black-and-red over-ear headphones, and the music was clearly leaking out from them.
And through the open cabinet door, Su Fang and Lin Guang caught a glimpse of what was inside.
It had been transformed into a luxurious mini lounge, split into several levels, with a fluffy long carpet spread on the floor. In the middle sat a small red sofa, surrounded by all kinds of magical girl figurines and a wide array of manga.
That stylish bird glanced at the few people standing by the door, then flapped its magnificent fiery wings and flew over to a snack cabinet. Like a climbing bird, it used its gold-and-crimson claws to pull out a beautifully packaged box of tea leaves from inside, then placed some into an exquisite ceramic teapot adorned with gold threads.
After doing that, it flew back to the stove on top of the cabinet, effortlessly lifted the scalding steel kettle, and then made an elegant glide to pour hot water into the teapot.
The rich aroma of black tea wafted over instantly.
It set down the kettle, deftly used its claws to cover the teapot lid, then picked up the teapot and flew over to the withered potted plant.
It tilted its head, and its claws slipped.
Splash—
Under Su Fang and Lin Guang’s stunned gaze, the steaming hot yellow tea, billowing white vapor, was poured directly—without any buffer—onto the Sacred Tree’s few remaining withered leaves, trickling down the trunk and seeping into the soil.
Su Fang’s pupils trembled again: “The, the Sacred Tree?!?”
After pouring out the entire pot of tea, that phoenix-like bird, acting as if no one else was there, carried the teapot back to the snack cabinet, refilled the kettle with water again, then fished out a few cups and began pouring tea for everyone.
As it poured, the bird turned its head to look at the speechless Su Fang, then opened its beak and spoke in human language.
“The great Sacred Tree won’t be hurt by something this trivial, you know.”
What came out was actually a crisp, sweet young girl’s voice.
She flapped those beautiful fiery wings, and in a tone that was completely at odds with her gorgeous appearance—old-fashioned and preachy—she lectured: “You need to understand, the first brew of tea is the strongest and most fragrant. This is top-grade tribute!”
“Little girl, this is how we make the Sacred Tree feel our passion! Passion! You get it, right? Since it’s already half-dead, we should use our burning souls to warm its withered heart~”
After saying that, like a seasoned old official, she used both wings to hold the cup, stretched her bird neck, and took a sip of the black tea, revealing a look of satisfaction.
Watching the little tree that showed no sign of distress even after being doused with boiling water, Su Fang’s emerald-green eyes were clearly filled with confusion: “Is… that how it works?”
Most people were easily swayed by appearances. This bird was just too gorgeous, too fairy-tale-like, and it could even talk—perfectly matching the impression of those fantasy works.
Even if it was a bit unorthodox, Su Fang was clearly stunned by its words.
But Lin Guang suddenly realized something, a subtle glint flickering deep in her eyes.
This damn bird clearly just didn’t want to drink the strong tea, so she conveniently used the first brew to water the tree!
“Ah… smells so good… Senior Phoenix, is the black tea ready…”
The next moment, the female receptionist who had been dozing off behind the counter was jolted awake by the aroma, muttered a few words, and lifted her head, with even a trace of drool still glistening at the corner of her mouth.
Her amber-colored eyes suddenly spotted Airwen’s arrival, and she snapped awake instantly, frantically wiping her mouth while loudly defending herself: “Senior Airwen, I wasn’t sleeping, I really wasn’t sleeping!”
“I was meditating!”
Airwen seemed to feel helpless about the behavior of these two characters as well: “I should have notified you yesterday about these two’s situation and that I’d be bringing them here today.”
“So what? Nothing got delayed.”
The little phoenix stood on the snack cabinet sipping tea, speaking with unapologetic confidence.
The girl sitting at the front desk said weakly: “Well… if I hadn’t known there was an appointment today, I would’ve already gone out shopping with Miss Ba… I wouldn’t be here, you know…”
Airwen stared at her in silence.
Lin Guang and Su Fang also stared at her in silence.
It seemed that this Magical Girl Association… really wasn’t a proper place.
… …
A short while later.
The four people and one bird sat down around a round table in the first-floor reception room.
The reception room’s decor was quite a contrast to the plainness outside. The overall tone was a soft pink, with plush red carpets on the floor, and the furniture had a distinctly girlish style.
On the spotless white marble table was an array of exquisite pastries and sweets, looking very delicate, clearly handmade high-quality goods.
The freshly brewed black tea was placed in porcelain cups in front of everyone, exuding an intoxicating aroma.
Combined with the universally high looks of the girls here, it did indeed give off a bit of a magical girl tea party vibe.
Airwen, dressed in her suit, was the first to speak.
“Let me introduce.”
“The Happiness Peace Committee, which is the surface name of the Magical Girl Association. This entire building belongs to all of us magical girls.”
