My Taboo Harem!

Chapter 1163: Patience Beneath His Hunger

Most of the convoy had already begun sliding down the private road, sunlight breaking across polished roofs, engines growling beneath the morning like a collection of very expensive predators being released from a cage.

Princesses divided themselves among the cars in arrangements.

Phei’s Pczinger 21C Sovereign remained behind.

Through her side mirror, Delilah had watched him standing near the car with Jade, Catrina already waiting inside while the others pulled farther away. Even from a distance, Jade’s posture carried that polished confidence of hers, though something about the way she held her hands in front of her suggested Phei had successfully made her feel overwhelmed her emotionally.

’A rare public service.’

Then he kissed Jade’s forehead, slipped into the driver’s seat, and the Sovereign finally moved.

Delilah watched it in the mirror until a bend swallowed the car, she smiled, she’d let Yuki drive at some point.

Her right hand rested upon her lap, and as sunlight swept through the window, the bracelet around her wrist awakened in crimson fire.

Red diamonds circled the delicate piece, each round stone holding a deep royal glow beneath the morning. The slender chain appeared almost fragile against her skin, though the material from which it had been fashioned was far rarer than ordinary gold. Cognac-gold finishings enclosed both ends, their warm shade chosen to match her eyes with such precision that even looking at them made something flutter painfully beneath her ribs.

Delilah turned her wrist slightly, watching crimson sparks scatter over her fingers. Her thumb brushed the cognac-gold fastening without thought, following the same small motion she had repeated several times since waking up and the morning after sex with him and her mother.

’That actually happened..’

Phei on one knee.

"You have been staring behind us for almost three minutes." Yuki’s voice came from the driver’s seat.

Delilah turned.

Yuki drove with one hand resting lightly over the steering wheel, her posture relaxed enough to suggest the road had personally agreed not to inconvenience her. Her dark hair framed a face arranged into careful neutrality, though her eyes had betrayed her several times already by flicking toward Delilah with the concentrated curiosity of a scholar approaching forbidden research.

"I was watching Phei leave," Delilah replied.

"I noticed."

"I also noticed that."

"Then why did you ask?"

"Because I have been trying to begin a conversation, and you have spent the opening minutes smiling at the rearview mirror like a widow remembering an extremely successful husband."

Delilah stared at her.

Yuki kept her gaze on the road her eyes dipped briefly toward Delilah’s right wrist.

"And you have touched that bracelet seven times."

Delilah immediately stopped rubbing the fastening.

"That depends upon whether we ask you, the girls who heard about the evening, or whatever remained of your emotional defenses afterward."

Delilah folded her hands together, hiding the bracelet beneath her left palm.

Yuki’s mouth curved faintly, "Concealing the evidence does not erase the crime."

"There was no crime."

"Then why are you hiding the weapon?"

"I am protecting it from the investigator."

Yuki inhaled.

"So."

Delilah waited but Yuki said nothing else and another ten seconds passed.

"So?" Delilah prompted.

"I am organizing the question." Yuki frowned faintly. "There are subjects one cannot simply throw into the cabin without preparation. Words have consequences. Poorly arranged words have worse consequences. Entire kingdoms have collapsed because someone began with the wrong sentence."

Delilah laughed softly.

Yuki continued driving in silence for several more seconds, visibly constructing something complicated inside her head.

Then she asked: "How was it?"

Delilah blinked with perfect innocence.

"How was what?"

Yuki’s fingers tightened around the steering wheel: "The evening?"

"It was lovely."

"I gathered that."

"The food was wonderful... the music was very thoughtful."

"Delilah."

"What?"

Yuki turned her head just enough to give her a flat look before returning her attention to the road: "I mean your first time with Phei."

Delilah’s lips parted.

Her thumb found the bracelet again before she could stop it, stroking one of the red diamonds as if the stone might provide legal assistance... she glanced toward the window as though the forest racing past had suddenly revealed the secrets of creation between two branches.

"Oh~"

"Yes," Yuki said. "Oh."

"I did not realize that was what you meant."

"You knew exactly what I meant."

"I truly didn’t."

"Your face became guilty before I finished the sentence."

"My face is naturally expressive."

"No. Do not attempt innocence. Innocence left this conversation the moment you began describing the food."

Delilah turned fully toward her: "Why do you want to know."

"Research purposes?" Yuki wasn’t sure that was her answer.

"What are you researching?"

"The construction of romantic environments, emotional pacing, private symbolism, intimacy architecture, anticipatory tension, trust formation, and how one absurdly handsome boy managed to make nearly every woman who heard about your evening feel personally insulted by a fairytale that did not belong to any of us but you."

Delilah stared at her.

Yuki’s gaze flicked toward the bracelet once more: "And how he concluded the whole thing."

Delilah laughed.

"You are just jealous."

"I am academically envious." Yuki glanced sideways at Delilah. "The girls have been talking about your evening."

Delilah’s smile thinned into embarrassment. "All of them?"

"Enough of them to form a committee."

"There is a committee?"

"No official committee." Yuki continued, her words gradually gathering momentum. "They are not merely talking about the fact that you and Phei finally crossed that line. That part was expected eventually. Everyone with functioning eyes had noticed the way you looked at each other, and everyone with functional hearing had suffered enough meaningful silences to understand the direction of travel."

"Meaningful silences?"

"You would disappear together and return looking calm."

Delilah folded her arms, but amusement remained in her eyes. Yuki looked at the bracelet pointedly.

Delilah lowered her wrist. "Why?"

"Because you arrived wearing red diamonds after a mysterious romantic evening, and Maddie possesses pattern recognition when the pattern threatens someone else’s dignity."

"She cannot know everything."

"She does not need everything. Maddie can construct a scandal from two glances, a missing hairpin and someone drinking water too quickly."

"That is disturbingly accurate."

"She is a public safety concern with excellent hair."

"The details of the evening are what caused the real damage," Yuki continued. "The private setting. The flowers. The lighting. The water. The food. The music. The way he apparently designed the entire night around you before anything intimate even happened."

Delilah’s gaze drifted toward her hands.

The memories returned with the warmth of sunlight beneath skin, Phei’s fingers intertwined with hers... the care hidden inside every small choice; the way he had looked at her as though he had built the evening not to impress her, but to create a place where she could finally stop carrying everything alone.

Yuki watched her quietly. "Do you know what that evening and setting meant?" she asked.

Delilah lifted her eyes. "What?"

"It means he had been thinking about it for some time."

Delilah adopted a deliberately unimpressed expression.

"That is simply how Phei is."

Yuki went silent.

Then she slowly turned her head.

"Really?"

"Yes."

"He does that often?"

"He is thoughtful."

"That was not the question."

"What was the question?"

"How many girls has he created an entire private fairytale for before taking their first time?"

Delilah opened her mouth.

Nothing emerged.

Yuki nodded toward her wrist. "And how many of them did he send home carrying the proposal in red diamonds?"

Delilah looked down at the bracelet.

"That proves nothing," she said, though her voice had lost some of its strength.

"It proves he did not merely locate somewhere beautiful and allow the moon to carry the emotional labor."

"Phei does romantic things for all of us."

"He does," Yuki agreed. "He buys gifts. He remembers details most men would lose before the sentence ended. He notices moods people hide. He looks at women in ways that make expensive clothing question whether it has provided sufficient coverage. He kisses foreheads like he invented the gesture, then acts confused when the victim spends the next three days emotionally compromised."

Delilah tried not to smile but she failed almost immediately.

"But this was different," Yuki continued. "Even princesses outside his women are envious of you."

Delilah turned toward her. "Outside his women?"

"Yes."

"Which princesses?"

"I am not betraying sources."

"You have sources?"

"I possess ears." Yuki’s expression became solemn again. "Okay... they have been whispering about it. Comparing rumors, trying to determine which parts were exaggerated and which parts were merely offensively real. Several cannot wait to corner you and ask about the experience."

Delilah’s face heated.

"What experience?"

Yuki glanced at her: "The romantic evening... how did he create the feeling?"

"The feeling?"

"The evening itself can be copied," Yuki said. "Money can purchase locations, flowers, chefs, musicians, privacy and enough lighting to make even a family betrayal look romantic from the correct angle. The rich have been decorating emotional emptiness for centuries. It is practically an industry."

Delilah glanced at the road outside.

"But money cannot manufacture meaning," Yuki continued. "Anyone could imitate the surface of what Phei did for you. That would not recreate it."

"Why?"

"Because his evening understood you."

Delilah’s amusement faded.

Yuki’s voice softened, though it still carried that precise, winding quality that made every thought arrive with relatives.

"I went there after... Trust me I am a good analyst and what I saw... every detail apparently belonged to your history with him. That is why the girls are jealous, even if some of them believe they are jealous of the flowers."
