My Taboo Harem!
Chapter 1191: Powerful & Monstrous, Yet... DecorationsMaya stared at her reflection in the dark glass, silver hair spilling around a face that looked much calmer than she felt:
"Are we decorations now? We climb all that way, become terrifying, learn enough to make ordinary monsters reconsider their careers, and then stand beside windows watching because the universe has rules."
Her brows pinched together as the thought continued without invitation. "Perhaps decorations are treated better. Nobody expects a vase to save anyone. It sits there, looks expensive and gets flowers. A very peaceful occupation."
She considered it seriously for a second.
"Maybe I should become a vase?"
Phei would buy that vase.
No, worse. He would commission one especially for her, carve her name into it and spend the following month calling her Lady Flowerpot whenever he wanted to annoy her.
Maya sighed. "I hate that I can imagine this."
Movement outside erased the brief amusement.
The shadow beneath the skybridge disappeared first. The one on the rooftop rose and slipped backward into concealment, followed by another near the waterfront. Within seconds all seven had begun abandoning their observation points, scattering toward the routes prepared for them.
They had received something like preliminary signal to leave.
Maya watched every one of them move while the hand touching the glass slowly closed into a fist.
She could end them now.
Before the first completed another step.
Instead she remained where she was, and for perhaps the first time in a very long life, power itself felt insulting.
At the moment, Sienna possessed more freedom to interfere than most of them. Her reincarnation and current existence allowed her to work through spaces in Earth’s Laws that would close violently around Maya, although there was still only so far she could go, especially against Danton himself.
Danton was troublesome because the Laws did not hold him normally either.
Selene presented another exception.
She stood outside the Laws of this universe in ways Maya still found fascinating, and if Danton ever crossed her path directly, he might discover very quickly how dangerous it was to assume every monster answered to the same heavens.
But Selene already had a more important purpose tonight:
’Mother... Melissa.’
Danton did not know.
That ignorance was one of the few things Maya genuinely liked about his plan.
He believed Phei’s protection had been stretched thin enough that pressure applied across several fronts would eventually expose something precious. Let him believe it. At least the women whose loss could destroy Phei most completely were not as vulnerable as Danton thought.
Maya’s thoughts reached Melissa and immediately found the smaller life growing within her.
’Ah, the beautiful Dragon.’ Her stomach tightened and wished she had not followed the thought that far.
If something happened to Mother, Phei would break. If something happened to Melissa, he would break differently.
But Melissa and his unborn child together...
Maya closed her eyes.
There would be nothing left to discuss afterward.
No Legacy politics, no Destined Day or carefully preserved boundaries between vengeance and consequence.
Phei currently stood at the Master Stage, and that made older beings dangerously comfortable. They looked at his cultivation, measured the powers they had already witnessed and convinced themselves he remained a young cultivator carrying an extraordinary bloodline.
Maya knew better.
She had felt what slept beneath that measurement.
The Cosmic Dragon was not another inheritance waiting politely for Phei to climb through cultivation realms before revealing itself. Something deeper lived beneath the affection, humor, hunger and ridiculous tenderness that still anchored him to the people around him.
Rage could reach it... wrath could feed it... and any death could awaken it.
And if grief ever became strong enough to make Phei stop resisting the corruption buried inside that Cosmic bloodline, Maya did not know what would remain when the anger finally burned itself empty.
Her eyes opened.
Below her, Hell’s Paradise still glittered magnificently beneath the dead sky. Millions of lights burned across towers, roads, villas and the distant edge of the lake, every one of them suddenly appearing painfully fragile.
Maya looked at the little world beneath the glass and murmured, "If they touch Mother, Melissa or that child, this little rock may not survive what wakes up."
That was the fear Danton could not possibly understand.
He thought hurting Phei’s heart would weaken him.
He might instead remove the last things teaching the Dragon why strength should ever stop.
Maya finally pushed herself away from the glass.
She could not solve every part of tonight herself. Fine.
Patricia would remain close to her. The Goddess would be there as well, and Maya intended to remain exactly where she needed to be.
If Danton became ambitious enough to approach that part of Infinity Chaos Hotel himself, she would enjoy watching his confidence discover what waited for him.
’Luck him, he has things to worry about tonight, Phei, Eira, Consort and that tattooed woman.<anno data-annotation-id="567bf61b-4b16-c44d-6154-6bf414bb3dbd" data-title="’">’1</anno>
The thought improved her mood slightly.
Outside, all seven shadows had vanished.
Maya looked over the city one last time.
"Please, you fools." she whispered, though she was not entirely sure whether she was speaking to Phei, fate, the Gods or the foolish men preparing to hurt him. "Do awaken something none of us can put back to rest."
Well, her prayer could not stop what was going to awaken tonight.
Far to the south, Danton felt three familiar presences return.
He stood beneath the dark sky with Hell’s Paradise spread behind him, golden eyes turning toward the distant direction of Korea as the first presence entered the edge of his perception. The second followed moments later, then the third.
All three Void-Djinns he had sent to the Park ancestral home.
They were finally returning.
A slow smile touched Danton’s face as he felt what they carried with them. The Park protections had resisted longer than he preferred, but resistance ceased to matter once the thieves were already returning with the authority they had been sent to obtain.
They had succeeded.
The final obstruction was gone.
Danton turned toward Hell’s Paradise and let his gaze travel across the island until it found Infinity Chaos Hotel rising above the city. Its countless windows burned beneath the lightless clouds, making the enormous tower appear almost serene from this distance.
Almost.
Somewhere inside waited the Dragon’s women, secrets and far too many pieces Danton had yet to understand completely.
Behind him, three Void-Djinns returned from the Park ancestral home carrying the final authority required for what came next.
And beneath... the far south of this realm, waited the Coffer.
Centuries of Legacy wealth. Treasures accumulated while modern nations were still unborn, resources capable of feeding bloodlines, raising armies and preparing the return of powers Earth had spent generations forgetting.
Danton watched Infinity Chaos Hotel for several seconds before his smile widened.
Phei could ruin plans.
He could save people.
He could race from one disaster to another and somehow arrive in time often enough to make fate itself look incompetent.
But he could not be everywhere.
Danton’s gaze shifted away from the hotel:
"The Coffer first."
Darkness swallowed his body so completely that the golden hair disappeared before the wind could move it again. His eyes vanished next, then the smile, until the place where Danton had stood held nothing but cold night.
