Chapter 426

Descending from the Aeroglide without as much as a parachute, Raze’s eyes sharpened instantly as he caught sight of the Abberants destroying the Wall.

Unlike Wall Rose, Wall Steel was made entirely from the strongest steel known to man.

A wall made entirely of steel, surrounding the whole region like a massive barricade.

Rising high into the air.

Due to its incredible strength, the Abberants hadn’t been able to destroy the whole thing yet.

About a hundred of these creatures could be seen taking turns ramming into the wall with all their might.

They had already managed to dent it massively and were only a few minutes away from shattering the whole thing.

From the sky, Raze’s eyes glided across the battlefield.

He spotted even more Abberants standing outside the wall, waiting for it to fall so they could flood into the region.

It seemed like these reinforcements had come from the fallen Wall Rose.

With a cold expression on his face, Raze locked eyes with one of the creatures standing at the far back of the others.

The Abberant was grinning as it watched the Wall crack further with every impact from its comrades.

One moment, it was grinning.

The next moment...

BAM!

The sound was so loud and violent that the whole region seemed to pause for a moment.

In this area, only a few houses still stood close to the Wall. And judging from the corpses littering the streets, it seemed the residents hadn’t been able to escape in time.

A shockwave blasted in all directions, causing every nearby Abberant to pause their assault and turn around.

All they saw was the neck of their comrade bending forward like a fallen tree.

The only thing still connecting its head to the neck was a thin vein.

".....?!"

The spine jutting from the creature’s back had been broken in two.

Standing atop the broken neck, which had been cleaved from the spine, was a man.

His gaze remained firmly fixed on the dozens of Abberants before him.

The wind fluttered his robe for a few seconds.

One hand rested on his axe, its shaft planted firmly into the bleeding neck beneath his feet.

Blue blood erupted from the wound like a geyser, splattering across the steel below.

The massive battle axe exuded raw destructive power from the moment it came into view.

Its enormous crescent-shaped blade was forged from polished silver metal, its edge honed to a frightening sharpness capable of cleaving through steel as though it were paper.

Intricate mechanical engravings ran across the surface of the blade, glowing faintly with an inner energy that hinted at advanced craftsmanship rather than ordinary smithing.

The head of the weapon was exceptionally large, reinforced along its spine to give it tremendous weight without sacrificing balance.

Opposite the primary blade rested a shorter, jagged spike designed to crush armour or pierce heavily fortified defences in a single devastating strike.

Its long black shaft was wrapped in textured grips for stability, while metallic reinforcements lined its length, designed to withstand the tremendous force generated by every swing.

Despite its overwhelming size, the axe possessed an elegance in its construction.

Every detail had been carefully engineered to maximize both power and precision.

Simply resting on the ground, it radiated the presence of a weapon built for absolute annihilation.

This was Captain Raze’s real weapon.

Not the sword he always used for minor inconveniences and battles he knew he could easily win.

This was his big gun.

The weapon that gave him his title as the...

"Spine Reaper."

"....?!"

For a moment, the Abberants were stunned, seemingly at a loss for words.

Then—

Pffffffff—! Pffffffff—!

The sound of compressed gas erupting into the air echoed across the battlefield.

Earth platforms shot upward one after another.

Landing directly behind Captain Raze, who was still standing atop the dead Abberant, were the other Vanguard members.

They landed smoothly without as much as a scratch on their bodies.

Standing at the front was Captain Ella, her staff firmly gripped in one hand.

A small grin rested on her face.

A stark contrast to Captain Raze’s stoic, cold expression.

Seeing the surprisingly short man with the single star on his shoulder and the strange battle axe in his hand, one of the Abberants suddenly widened its eyes in horror.

"Sp-Sp... That’s the Spine Reaper!"

BANG!

Raze bolted forward with destructive force.

The corpse beneath his feet toppled backward like a falling tree as he shot forward like a missile.

He tore through the crowd of Abberants as though they were nothing.

Spinning his axe a few times, a powerful blast of wind erupted outward as he weaved between several Abberants, heading straight for the creature that had spoken his title.

Unfortunately, the creature wasn’t about to remain a stunned spectator.

Quickly snapping back to its senses, it spun around.

Its claws lashed towards the Captain.

Pfffffff—!

Raze slammed his feet into the face of another creature, using its head as a platform to dart sideways.

The claws sliced through the space where his body had been a moment earlier.

Raze spun around with his axe.

Then—

He vanished.

A heartbeat later, he reappeared directly behind the Abberant.

Faster than the creature could react.

Raze swung his axe with overwhelming force.

Not a single grunt escaped his lips.

BOOOOM!

A concussive boom resounded through the air.

CRACK!

The spine of the Abberant snapped in two.

Its head rolled forward.

Blood erupted into the air.

Raze landed on the ground in the midst of the towering monsters.

Blue blood sprayed and rained down in waves from the neck of the dead Abberant.

Its massive body swayed for a moment before crashing directly behind the Captain with a thunderous thud.

BOOM!

A cloud of dust vaulted into the air behind the short man.

Raze stood motionless.

His axe was firmly planted in the earth beside him.

His obsidian eyes were as cold as they could possibly be.

"...."

That was it.

The nail in the coffin for the Abberants.

They all immediately roared in unison.

Their eyes locked onto the Captain standing alone in their midst.

Unhesitatingly, they raised their massive feet and swung them towards the man.

Raze simply folded his arms across his chest.

He didn’t move an inch.

He didn’t even flinch as a dozen massive feet hurtled towards his head like falling meteors.

And did he need to?

BANG!

A deafening impact suddenly drew the attention of one of the creatures.

It turned around.

Only to see a blur.

Then—

BOOM!

A sonic boom exploded through the air.

A massive staff crashed into the top of the creature’s head.

CRACK!

Its entire skull caved inward instantly without offering the slightest resistance.

Blood and splinters of bone shot through the air.

Standing where the creature had been was a woman holding the staff in one hand.

A slight grin rested on her face.

Captain Ella.

Then—

"Attack."

She gave the order.

And soon...

Chaos.
