My Ultimate Gacha System

Chapter 480 - 86 — England Vs Italy — Qualified II

In the sixty-fourth minute, Bastoni carried into midfield.

Foden hesitated between closing him and staying with Dimarco.

Bastoni found Barella.

Barella turned and tried to slide Kean between Stones and Maguire.

Demien had already dropped closer to Rice after clocking Kean’s position and stepped across the lane before the ball reached him.

He didn’t just clear it.

He cushioned the interception straight to Rice, keeping possession and killing Italy’s momentum in the same motion.

On the touchline, Southgate checked the clock, then turned toward Phillips.

At sixty-five minutes, the fourth official prepared the board.

Phillips pulled his training top off while a staff member gave him final instructions.

Demien was still involved in the passing sequence and didn’t notice right away.

When the ball finally went out of play, the board went up.

WALTER — OFF

PHILLIPS — ON

Wembley’s reaction started building before Demien had even turned toward the sideline.

This wasn’t the Australia ovation.

He’d scored three goals in ten minutes against Italy with qualification almost sealed, and the crowd knew exactly what they’d watched.

He stopped for one second on the pitch and looked around the stadium, letting it land rather than pretending it didn’t.

He smiled, applauded above his head toward one stand and then another, and jogged toward the technical area.

Bellingham reached him first and smacked the back of his head as he passed.

Rice pointed toward him from deep midfield.

Kane applauded from the center circle.

Phillips was waiting at the touchline.

"Three," Phillips said. "In ten minutes."

"Would’ve been four if Southgate let me chase it," Demien said.

"Southgate’s the one who told you to stop being greedy," Phillips said, already moving past him onto the pitch.

Southgate gripped Demien’s hand firmly at the touchline.

No mention of Italy selection.

That question had answered itself.

"Excellent performance," Southgate said. "Go see the medical staff."

Demien settled onto the bench with an electrolyte drink and a recovery jacket over his shoulders.

ENGLAND (after 65’)

Pickford.

Walker — Stones — Maguire — Trippier.

Rice — Phillips.

Foden — Bellingham — Rashford.

Kane.

Phillips offered something different almost immediately.

Italy built through Bastoni.

Phillips stayed much closer to Rice rather than stepping into the first press.

Barella tried the pass into Kean.

Phillips was already positioned in the lane and forced it backward without needing any recovery sprint at all.

Demien watched closely from the bench.

Some of the problems that had cost him a sprint to fix, Phillips solved just by standing in the right place first.

In the sixty-eighth minute, Dimarco delivered his first dangerous cross, receiving beyond Foden and whipping it in early before Walker could close him down.

Kean attacked between Stones and Maguire.

Stones reached it first and headed behind for a corner.

Demien rose halfway off the bench when Kean went for the header, sitting back down only once the ball had gone out.

From the corner, Scalvini attacked the first ball but headed over.

Around the seventieth minute, Guéhi replaced Stones.

Stones jogged to the bench and dropped down beside Demien.

"Still smiling?" Stones asked.

"Still smiling," Demien said.

"Good," Stones said. "I’d be worried if you weren’t."

In the seventy-third minute, Italy sustained possession through Bastoni and Dimarco.

Bastoni carried past halfway.

Dimarco moved outside.

Frattesi attacked the box.

Phillips tracked Frattesi while Rice closed Barella.

Dimarco crossed toward Kean.

Maguire challenged and sent the header out toward the edge of the box.

Cristante shot through traffic.

Pickford saw it late but got down and pushed it clear.

Demien applauded from the bench, shouting toward the defensive line along with the rest of the substitutes.

Around the seventy-sixth minute, Italy committed numbers forward again.

Bastoni tried a vertical pass.

Phillips intercepted it and sent it toward Bellingham.

Bellingham released Kane into open space, Italy’s defense stretched thin.

Donnarumma came out to meet him.

Kane shot across him.

Donnarumma got a strong hand to it and pushed it clear.

Demien half-rose off the bench expecting the fifth, then dropped back down laughing as Kane turned away in disbelief.

No fifth goal.

Four was already emphatic enough.

In the seventy-eighth minute, Raspadori replaced Berardi.

He drifted more centrally than Berardi had, looking to combine around Kean rather than stay glued to the touchline.

England tightened up slightly without giving up possession entirely.

Around the eightieth minute, Raspadori found Frattesi near the box.

Frattesi tried a low pass into Kean.

Phillips got a foot to it.

The rebound reached Dimarco, who crossed first time.

Guéhi won the header.

Rice collected the second ball and sent Rashford into space.

Rashford carried past halfway, then slowed rather than forcing the counter — England didn’t need a fifth.

Southgate applauded the decision from the touchline.

Around the eighty-third minute, Grealish came on for Bellingham.

Bellingham reached the bench and dropped in beside Demien.

"Good assist," Demien said. "Would’ve been nice if you’d found me a bit more in the first half, though."

"Three goals wasn’t enough for you?" Bellingham said.

"Four would’ve been cleaner," Demien said.

"You’re unbelievable," Bellingham said, shaking his head.

Both of them went quiet after that, watching the closing minutes — qualification still needed the final whistle.

In the eighty-seventh minute, Orsolini replaced El Shaarawy, Italy still pushing for a way back into it rather than accepting the scoreline.

Orsolini drove at Trippier.

Dimarco overlapped.

The cross reached Kean.

Kean headed narrowly wide.

Demien exhaled and glanced at the stadium clock.

Even at 4-1, it didn’t feel official until the whistle went.

England closed the match out with control, Phillips offering Rice a safe option every time, Grealish carrying to the corner once and winning a foul, Kane shielding a long clearance and drawing a foul from Scalvini, Pickford taking his time over every restart without ever quite crossing into blatant time-wasting.

Deep into stoppage time, Wembley began singing before the referee had blown a single whistle for full time, songs about Germany, about qualification, rolling around the stadium in waves.

Demien heard it from the bench and looked out across the stands.

It landed differently than the goals had.

The hat-trick was his.

This belonged to everyone in the stadium.

The referee blew for full time.

Fweeeeeetttttttt! Fweeeeeetttttttt! Fweeeeeetttttttt!

England 4 — 1 ItalyGianluca Scamacca 15’ — Demien Walter 22’, 27’, 32’ — Marcus Rashford 57’

England had qualified for EURO 2024.

Demien threw the recovery jacket aside and ran onto the pitch with the rest of the substitutes.

Rice found him first and dragged him into the middle of the group.

Bellingham jumped onto his back.

Kane grabbed him and pointed toward the scoreboard, his three goals still listed.

"Don’t forget I scored too," Rashford said, elbowing in.

"The fourth one was useful," Demien said.

Rashford shoved him, laughing.

The players turned toward the crowd, applauding above their heads while qualification graphics rolled across the big screens, the noise a mix of England songs, chants for the whole team, and pockets of Wal-ter, Wal-ter breaking out here and there.

Across the pitch, Italy’s players gathered themselves with visible disappointment but no loss of professionalism.

Donnarumma pulled his teammates in for a word.

Di Lorenzo walked toward Italy’s traveling support, applauding them.

Barella stood with his hands on his hips, still clearly frustrated.

Their own qualification remained unresolved rather than finished — this loss hadn’t ended anything for them yet.

Adriano came onto the pitch during the post-match handshakes and found Demien among the celebrating players.

He pulled him into a quick hug, one arm around the back of his neck.

"Ten minutes," Adriano said, pulling back. "We were still trying to work out what happened with the first one when the third went in."

Demien laughed.

"Congratulations," Adriano said. "You’re through."

"You’ve still got work to do," Demien said.

"We’ll get there," Adriano said.

"I expect you to," Demien said.

Adriano gave him one more nod and moved off toward his own teammates.

An England equipment staffer approached with the match ball.

Kane intercepted it first, found a marker, and wrote the match details across the leather before handing it over.

"Yours," Kane said. "Three goals says so."

Demien turned it slowly in his hands.

ENGLAND v ITALY

WEMBLEY

17 OCTOBER 2023

WALTER 22’, 27’, 32’

He stared at the three times a moment longer than he meant to, until Bellingham bumped his shoulder and pulled him back into the celebration.

「EURO QUALIFIER MATCH MISSION COMPLETE」 「England 4 — 1 Italy」 「Minutes Played: 65」 「Goals: 3」 「Assists: 0」 「Direct Goal Contributions: 3/2」 「Pressure-Release Actions: 7/6」 「Defensive Recoveries: 5/4」 「Clear Chances Created: 3/3」 「Pass Completion: 94%」 「BONUS OBJECTIVE」 「Secure EURO 2024 Qualification — COMPLETE」 「Reward: +100 MP」 「Bonus Reward: +10 SP」

He closed the panel almost as fast as it opened.

None of it mattered as much as the ball in his hands right now.

An England media officer was already crossing the pitch toward him, and it wasn’t hard to guess why — Player of the Match had never really been in doubt after a ten-minute hat-trick.

She took the ball from him just long enough for the photograph, then guided him toward the pitchside position, the interviewer already waiting beneath the Wembley lights with qualification celebrations still rolling on behind them.

He looked at Demien, glanced once at the match ball marked with three goals, and the red light came on.

"Three goals in ten minutes against Italy. How do you even explain what just happened?"
