To Damien, it appeared as if space itself was folding and moving toward him like a massive wave. The distance between him and the Therizon seemed to collapse with every passing second, the surrounding crystalline ice bending strangely as the creature tore through space.

When it finally got close enough, the enormous beak of the Therizon suddenly shot out from the distorted space.

Its beak opened wide, revealing a dark throat behind rows of sharp structures inside its mouth. It was clearly attempting to swallow him whole.

Damien’s eyes widened, but he reacted quickly. He thrust the ritual staff into the Therizon’s mouth and used it as a support beam, forcing the creature’s enormous beak to remain open.

For a second, it seemed to work, then Damien realised the Therizon wasn’t stopping.

The creature continued pushing forward with overwhelming force, its body still moving through space as the staff remained wedged inside its mouth. Damien’s boots dug into the frozen ground, but it wasn’t enough. He was dragged backward across the crystallised landscape, his body struggling to resist the creature’s momentum.

"Life’s too short to die in a bird’s stomach."

The Therizon screeeeeeeched.

The sound exploded through the cavern, rattling Damien’s skull and throwing him completely off his game. His grip on the ritual staff weakened, and his hands slipped from its surface.

"Shit"

His body lurched forward.

Damien began falling directly into the Therizon’s throat, but before he could disappear inside, Andrea’s hands shot forward and grabbed him by the collar.

With a sharp pull, she yanked him back out of the creature’s mouth. Damien barely had time to recover before Andrea flung herself upward, landing on the Therizon’s back.

He, meanwhile, twisted his body and used his leg to hook the ritual staff out of the creature’s mouth, retrieving it before scrambling after her.

"Let’s try to keep the Therizon out of space". Andrea said sharply.

Damien didn’t even wait for her to finish, his black miasma spread out in all directions, blanketing the Therizon, and taking away its sight.

"It won’t fuse into space if it can’t see where it’s going. Come on. Let’s tag team this bitch."

Andrea didn’t know how to respond to Damien’s sudden enthusiasm, but his careless confidence still brought a smile to her face. Whatever doubts she had disappeared as she immediately launched herself at the Therizon without hesitation.

Damien’s undead once more emerged from the black miasma and attacked the Therizon from all directions, forcing the creature to divide its attention between dozens of undead clawing at its body and Andrea’s freakishly powerful punches.

Damien himself went into the fray.

He threw the ritual staff back to Priesty before withdrawing his black axe from his belt. Then, using the chaos created by the undead and Andrea’s relentless assault as cover, he moved toward the Therizon.

He latched onto its neck beneath the cover of his fellow undead, keeping his body low as he climbed higher. His axe was clenched between his teeth while he moved like an assassin, carefully using the Therizon’s own body as cover whenever its attention shifted in his direction.

The Therizon was far too preoccupied with the other attackers to notice him.

By the time Damien reached its neck, he had already positioned himself close enough. He grabbed his axe and raised it with both hands before hacking down at the Therizon’s ear with all his might.

"That’s what you get for trying to eat me."

Screeeeeeeeech!!

The Therizon released a furious shriek as it suddenly spread its wings and began flapping them with tremendous force.

Its massive body instantly rose into the air.

The undead clinging to it were thrown off one after another as the creature violently shook its body, sending them crashing back onto the crystallised ice below.

But the Therizon had made a mistake, it had taken off without seeing where it was going.

Its enormous body slammed directly into the ice above.

The impact shook the entire area as chunks of frozen crystal broke loose and rained down around them. The Therizon lost its balance and came crashing back toward the ground.

Damien, however, was still fixed to its neck like a stubborn insect.

"This is starting to become a lifestyle."

Andrea heard Damien yell out as the Therizon crashed through the ice and once more fell deeper into the frozen depths.

She shook her head before jumping down after him. Damien was hard to miss. He kept his black miasma spread around the Therizon, making sure the creature couldn’t fuse into space again.

Damien grabbed one of the long feathers protruding from the Therizon’s head, but the moment the creature shifted, the force sent him flying out of the miasma.

His body shot through the air, breaking through several layers of ice as he was carried along by the Therizon’s momentum. Damien cursed loudly, but despite the pain and the violent force throwing him around, he refused to let go of the Therizon’s feather.

Eventually, his body swung back into the miasma.

Damien immediately took advantage of the opportunity and jumped onto the Therizon’s back, wrapping his arms around its body and holding on for dear life as the creature continued its descent.

"Get out here and contribute to the fight, you lazy undead lich."

The moment Damien said that, a black skeleton covered in faint purple runes emerged from beside him. The skeleton stood motionless as if confused by the command, its empty eye sockets staring forward for several seconds before it slowly turned its skull towards the struggling Damien.

"What are you looking at, dumbass?"

Damien cursed at it, already starting to regret turning this fool into an undead. He had considered turning the other skeletons into undead as well, but this was the only one with strange runes attached to its bones. He had no idea what the runes could do, but considering the circumstances, keeping the skeleton around had seemed worthwhile.

Apparently, he had expected too much from it.

The undead lich finally reacted. It stepped forward without a word and placed both hands against the Therizon’s massive body. For a second, absolutely nothing happened.

Then the faint purple runes carved across its black bones began to glow.
