I made some adjustments to this chapter, but I lost that file. I'll read it later and see if there's a need to do it again. Later.

**Chapter 232**
Two months passed by just like that. I exercised in the morning, then rested, then circulated the dark energy within me, then rested again, then ate out one of the many women in my family or in this noble household, rested once more, and finally visited Elara in the evening to snack on her mana-infused chocolate syrup.
There wasn’t much progress in that time with regard to anything else. The Carlson estate remained silent. Servants whispered about Carlson giving in to the lust for power, but nothing more. No political measures were taken, even though the king had died fighting the patriarch of this house.
The queen, the acting monarch of the nation, had announced a royal pardon for the family on the condition that they change their name.
The name change was already underway, and it was obvious what it would become. Elara’s maiden house name.
Probably.
Anyway, there was still a little over a month left before the king’s passing ceremony would end and all sorts of civil problems would begin to rise.
For now, everyone stayed silent, but soon an heir battle would begin. Lord houses that favored their respective candidates would start to duke it out.
The queen wouldn’t remain on the throne for very long, and even if she did, she would hold no real power in the end. She was a woman, after all.
I had a suggestion for that. And I sure as hell intended to give it my all.
But for now…
[Task complete]
Slurp…
I wiped my lips as I pulled back from Elara, who was breathing raggedly after enjoying the full service of my tongue. Her thighs still trembled faintly against my cheeks, the last traces of her thick, mana-rich nectar lingering on my tongue—bitter dark chocolate, heavy and addictive.
She was no longer as unaffected as she had been the first time. She had clearly come to like this daily routine.

For now, I waved the prompt aside and checked the final notification about my mana. It was still pending until I chose how to deal with the excess energy.
Bummer. I had been hoping for some proper GILF action, but it seemed that would have to wait.
An important conversation needed to be held before I could focus on my lust at leisure.
“My lady, these past two months I have been thinking about something. May I be permitted to speak?” I asked.
“What…?” Elara asked, having recovered a little.
I turned to glance at the maids still in the room and hesitated. Elara simply waved her hand, and every maid except Valeria walked out within the next few seconds.
“Speak,” Elara ordered, sitting up straight, fully composed once more.
“My lady. I may be speaking beyond my limits, bu—”
“Just get to the point,” Elara interrupted.
“Make me the king.” Oops. That might have been too abrupt.
Even Valeria’s usually stoic expression cracked into one of open shock. Elara, however, showed no reaction at all. She simply looked at me, waiting for me to continue.
“A proxy king, I mean. I may not be especially wise, but I have spent enough time in this world to know that a woman cannot rule for long. Sooner or later the lord houses will appoint an heir of their own choosing.”
“But we can bypass that entire process and maintain this house’s influence if the queen remains the true ruler of the nation.”
“Being a woman makes that difficult, so a proxy such as myself would be the perfect solution.”
“…”
Elara remained silent for a while before she asked, “And how do you expect to make it happen?”
Yes. At least I had made it past the most ludicrous point.
“It is fairly simple, my lady. We announce me as the king’s hidden son—one he had been training in secret to take his place.”
“…”
Elara stayed silent a moment longer, giving nothing away. When I glanced briefly at Valeria, the expression on her face clearly said, *And I had my hopes up.*
“That is not possible. The king already has four children.”
What did that have to do with anything? As far as I was aware, kings in this era often had children left and right with prostitutes and the like. True, that wasn’t possible in this world, but a political move involving a hidden child should still have been feasible.
My expression must have given something away, because Elara asked, “Jack, are you not familiar with how the Temple of Kaya grants children?”
What?
“Forgive me, my lady. I lost my memory a little over a year ago, so I still have gaps in basic knowledge,” I replied, thinking quickly on my feet.
“Hmm… I was made aware of that. But I didn’t realize it was to this extent.” Elara nodded, then launched into a brief explanation. “The Temple of Kaya grants children only to those who can afford them. Ten thousand gold coins for one child. The maximum, however, is four. The temple then provides one gold coin a month for each child.”
“Most commoners never even have one. Which makes me wonder how your parents were able to afford four.”
“Anyway, only those with crown or noble achievements are granted the honor of children—one or two, depending on their contribution.”
“Another requirement is that one must be married. One woman and one man. No exceptions. No matter the circumstances, that man or woman can never have children again, even if they somehow remarry.”
“If the person they marry has never had children, they still cannot conceive, because one of the partners has already reached the limit granted by the temple.”
“So you understand now?”
Somewhat.
Only now did Rayla’s earlier words return to me—the ones about how I must marry a young woman if I ever wanted her to have grandchildren. It would never have been possible if I married her instead.
Beyond that, it was a strange system. And Elara’s question about how Rayla and Julian could afford four children when most commoners could not even manage one lingered in my mind. That question had never been raised around me, neither within my family nor outside it, so I had never thought to wonder.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand. The king already had four children with the queen. A new one could not simply be introduced.
That should have been a problem, but…
“If a new one cannot be thrown into the mix, then perhaps an old one can be thrown out,” I said simply, speaking what was on my mind. I didn’t need to say anything more.
The rest was up to Elara. She had the power and the means to make it happen, even if the idea sounded ridiculous or outright unimaginable.
Elara looked at me for a long moment before she said, “Speak.”
~~
Was my suggestion well received?
No idea. Elara showed nothing on her usual sharp face. Not even a flinch. All I could rely on was her willingness to listen.
And she had listened to me until the end.
Now all I could do was hope for a favorable outcome. There was still time, so there was no telling what would happen.
[Would you like to divert in a certain direction?]
[Options for energy allocation]
Oh, right. There was still this. Only after deciding would I be able to use mana again—and get hard.
Let’s see…
[#1: All stats +100]
‘Oh, that sounded tempting.’
[#2: Unlocking of your bloodline’s second ability]
‘Not so much.’
I was already halfway there. No need to waste this opportunity on it.
[#3: Bloodline evolution]
Huh?
Now what the hell was this?
Bloodline evolution? What did it do? Was it some kind of evolutionary stage?
I’d rather not dive into something unknown, but I had a strong feeling this was the one. I had to choose it, even if it carried risks.
Well, if that was the case, then there was no harm in being a little careful.
Instead of returning to my room, I went to one of the empty training halls. Once inside, I locked the door behind me and sat down.
‘Details about option 3,’ I asked the system, but…
[No relevant data found]
[Would you like to select option 3?]
[Yes\No]
Fuck. I had been hoping for some sort of clue. Still, there wasn’t much I could do about it. Instincts honed over millennia were screaming at me to pick this one. No matter what.
‘Yes.’
So I did.
And…
[Acknowledged]
[Evolution would now start]
[Good luck to the user]
‘What? Why wish me luck?’
I didn’t have enough time to fully question it when—
Crack!
“Arrghh!!”
A sharp pain assaulted me, and that was only the beginning. What followed was a hellish procedure.
One that rivaled even the assimilation of the dragon’s heart.
