Two of the attendants charged forward like tigers pouncing on their prey. It had to be said, the countries near the Celestial Profound Sect were quite formidable. Both of these men were at the Refining Spirit Eighth Layer Heaven, a level of cultivation that would make them top-tier experts in the Celestial Martial Country.
"Brat, scram!"
Following the sharp shout, one of the men was already in front of Wen Qingye in an instant. His gaze turned cold as the Primordial Qi in his body suddenly surged.
He clenched a hand into a fist that seemed forged from steel, wreathed in layers of Primordial Qi as it flew toward Wen Qingye.
The immense power of the blow made even the onlookers’ Heart Spirits tremble, and grave expressions appeared on their faces.
Wen Qingye’s pupils contracted slightly, but the divine light in his eyes remained unchanged. Moving at a deliberate pace visible to all, he met the incoming fist with a punch of his own.
"BANG!"
With the sound of exploding Primordial Qi, the two fists collided in mid-air without a hint of flourish. The overflowing Primordial Qi transformed into a shockwave that spread in all directions.
"CRACK!"
To the astonishment of the crowd, the blast was followed by the crisp snap of a breaking bone, and then a scream like a pig being slaughtered.
The attendant’s body slammed heavily onto the floor, crushing the surrounding tables and chairs into a disorderly heap.
No one could process what had happened for a moment. They stared at the Young Prince Kang Li’an’s attendant—an expert at the Refining Spirit Eighth Layer Heaven—lying on the ground. Then, their gazes shifted back to Wen Qingye, who was still seated with an indifferent expression. His eyelid hadn’t even twitched!
’This young man is an expert!’
Everyone subconsciously gasped. Only now did they realize just how terrifying this young man’s power was. He had sent an expert of the Refining Spirit Eighth Layer Heaven flying with a single, casual punch, all while remaining seated. His strength was far beyond what his young age would suggest.
"You dare touch my men? Brat, you’re courting death!" The Young Prince Kang Li’an’s rage intensified when he saw his subordinate on the ground, his condition unknown. He gestured with his eyes to the men behind him.
Seeing the signal, the attendants, though somewhat afraid, grew bold with malicious intent at the thought that Wen Qingye was alone and so young. They moved to completely surround him.
Wen Qingye shook his head and muttered to himself, "I just wanted to rest a little. Can’t I even have some peace?"
Immediately, Wen Qingye flicked his right wrist. A vast and terrifying torrent of Primordial Qi surged madly toward his hand. In just an instant, everyone felt as if all the surrounding Primordial Qi had been sucked dry.
The only sound in the air was the CRACKLE of this Primordial Qi.
Everyone stared at Wen Qingye in horror as uncontrollable terror spread through their hearts. ’Just what is this person’s cultivation level?’
A vortex of Qi formed in Wen Qingye’s hand, the Primordial Qi within it continuously compressed and condensed.
"Go!"
Following Wen Qingye’s soft command, the Primordial Qi from his palm surged out like a boundless tidal wave, rushing toward the dozen or so attendants surrounding him.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
A series of explosive bangs assaulted their ears, making everyone’s heart clench. The blasts were followed by several agonizing howls and the echoing sound of bodies crashing into tables and chairs.
’Can that even be considered a single move?’
He defeated over a dozen masters of the Refining Spirit realm in a single move!
Everyone stared at Wen Qingye, who calmly picked up his teacup and took a sip. Their minds went blank. ’Who on earth is this person? So young, yet so terrifyingly powerful?’
Kang Li’an’s expression was so grim you could wring water from it.
"Who exactly are you? Do you have any idea who I am?" the Young Prince Kang Li’an asked Wen Qingye, his voice grave.
Wen Qingye couldn’t help but laugh. "Who are you? Aren’t you the Young Prince, Kang Li’an?"
"Hmph." A smug look appeared on the Young Prince Kang Li’an’s face. "My twin brother is the twenty-seventh ranked Registered Disciple in the Celestial Profound Sect. In less than five years, he’s guaranteed to become a Core Disciple. He’s resting in my Mansion right now. Let me tell you, if you mess with me, not only will the Qixuan Country hunt you down, but even the Celestial Profound Sect won’t let you off."
Hearing this, Wen Qingye’s expression showed understanding. "Oh, so that’s how it is."
"Heavens, Prince Kang Zhao is ranked twenty-seventh! Barring any accidents, he’s sure to become a Core Disciple."
"A Core Disciple! A Core Disciple of the Celestial Profound Sect!"
"I heard that Core Disciples of the Celestial Profound Sect might even have a chance to step into the legendary Life and Death Realm!"
Hearing the words of the Qixuan Country’s Young Prince, the surrounding crowd couldn’t help but show their shock. A look of longing appeared in many of their eyes.
Immediately, everyone looked at Wen Qingye with a touch of pity, sighing and shaking their heads inwardly.
The middle-aged man couldn’t help but sigh in admiration. "Kang Zhao’s talent is truly remarkable. To be able to stand out in a place like the Celestial Profound Sect, where geniuses gather like clouds... He truly is the once-in-a-millennium genius of our Qixuan Country."
The woman giggled. "Yes, I admired him for several years back then. Who knew it would be a case of unrequited love?"
Hearing the murmurs from the crowd, the Young Prince Kang Li’an’s heart swelled with pride. An air of heroism came over him, and he looked at Wen Qingye with arrogance. "How about it? Kneel and apologize to me now, and I might just forgive you."
Wen Qingye sneered. "Ranked twenty-seventh in the Celestial Profound Sect? I’ve never heard the name Kang Zhao."
Kang Li’an’s brow furrowed, a fierce glint in his eyes. He snorted coldly, "Hmph. Do you have any idea what you’re doing? You’re challenging the might of the Celestial Profound Sect."
At this moment, the Shopkeeper hurried over. He bowed his head to Wen Qingye and said, "Young Master, just apologize. There’s no need to escalate things. You must know that when under another’s roof, one must bow one’s head."
Everyone else nodded secretly, agreeing with the Shopkeeper’s words. Kang Li’an naturally heard the Shopkeeper, and an expression of smug satisfaction was plain on his face. He watched Wen Qingye with a mocking gaze.
"Make way, make way! Captain Huu of the Law Enforcement Team is here!"
Just then, a commotion arose from the crowd.
Everyone subconsciously looked toward the commotion. They saw a man in white robes walking in slowly with elegant steps. Behind him was an old man clad in black armor, holding a Long Saber.
"Kang Zhao! That’s Kang Zhao, the number one genius of our Qixuan Country!" someone in the crowd cried out, and everyone stared intently.
When Kang Li’an saw the white-robed man enter, a joyful light appeared in his eyes. He said, "Brother, you’re here! This brat not only injured my attendants, but he also spoke ill of you."
Xing’Er stood behind the crowd. By now, she had used Primordial Qi to mend her cheek, and it was mostly healed. Hearing Kang Li’an’s words, her face paled. A moment ago, she had only seen the white-robed man speaking with Captain Huu. Although Captain Huu was being extremely respectful, suggesting the man was a big shot, she never imagined he would be the famous Kang Zhao of Qixuan Country.
Xing’Er felt an urge to cry. ’This is bad.’
Hearing Kang Li’an’s words, Kang Zhao’s expression darkened, and he couldn’t help but look toward Wen Qingye. The moment he saw Wen Qingye, his face changed drastically, and his body began to tremble uncontrollably.
"You bastard!"
Kang Zhao roared and kicked Kang Li’an directly in the shins. Before Kang Li’an could even react, he was forced to his knees. Kang Zhao then pressed down on his head.
"Senior Brother Wen, my younger brother has eyes but failed to recognize Mount Tai. I hope you will be the better man and spare him," Kang Zhao said, his head bowed and fists clasped, addressing the ever-calm Wen Qingye, who was still seated.
’Senior Brother Wen!?’
Everyone was stunned, unable to process this turn of events.
Xing’Er’s small mouth hung slightly open as she stared in astonishment at Kang Li’an, who had been so imperious just moments ago but was now kneeling on the floor.
The Shopkeeper, the middle-aged man, the woman, the burly man—the entire crowd wore expressions of shock and confusion.
’What on earth is going on?’
’Why is Kang Zhao being so respectful to that young man?’
Wen Qingye glanced at the kneeling Kang Li’an and waved his sleeve. It was as if a current of Qingfeng flew from his hand.
"THUD!"
Kang Li’an’s body was sent flying, landing heavily on the ground. He lay there, wailing in agony and letting out blood-curdling screams.
Wen Qingye slowly and indifferently said, "Protect his life. He only has one. Don’t let him throw it away again. Also, this place is quite nice. I like it."
After speaking, Wen Qingye slowly rose and started walking downstairs, not even sparing a glance for Kang Zhao, who stood with his head bowed, not daring to breathe too loudly.
The crowd was dead silent, all eyes following Wen Qingye as he departed.
An unknown amount of time passed before Kang Zhao suddenly let out a huge sigh of relief.
Kang Li’an was slowly helped up by the surrounding attendants. He staggered over to Kang Zhao and asked, "Brother, what was that all about? Was that brat really that impressive?"
"SLAP!"
With a crisp smack, Kang Li’an’s body was sent flying once again.
After slapping him, Kang Zhao roared in anger, "You bastard, do you have any idea that you almost got me killed too?"
Kang Li’an saw stars, his cheek swelling up high. He carefully looked at the panting Kang Zhao from where he lay on the floor. "Brother, who... who on earth was that person?"
Kang Zhao caught his breath and said heavily, "Who? I’ll tell you who. The number one peerless genius among the Registered Disciples, someone who can sweep through the geniuses of the Four Great Ancient Countries, and a person I greatly admire."
"What?" Kang Li’an stared downstairs in disbelief. That person was such a formidable figure—the number one ranked Registered Disciple. And he had tried to threaten him with the reputation of a disciple ranked twenty-seventh.
The surrounding crowd was also aghast. It was rare for them to even see a disciple from the Celestial Profound Sect, yet today they had seen the number one ranked disciple. How could they not be astonished?
The woman’s eyes shone with a strange light as she said, "Heavens, that kid is actually that amazing! I completely misjudged him. No wonder he was just sitting there, completely still, so calm and natural."
"Indeed, that man is no simple character," the middle-aged man nodded. He then sighed and said, "From what I’ve seen, his disposition is truly excellent. I believe we will be hearing his name again within ten years."
Kang Zhao then walked over to the Shopkeeper, clasped his fists, and smiled. "Old sir, if you have any difficulties, just say the word. In Qixuan Country, you are free to use my, Kang Zhao’s, name."
"I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare!" the Shopkeeper said, hastily waving his hands.
Hearing this, Xing’Er hurried to the window and looked down. But by now, Wen Qingye had already vanished into the vast sea of people. For some reason, Xing’Er felt a sense of loss, a feeling of emptiness.
