Myriad Dragon Divine Sovereign

Chapter 329 - 328: Deep into the Tomb

By noon, Liu Xuan was hosting another banquet for everyone. This time, however, a few people were noticeably missing—they were some of the martial artists with lower cultivation who had died the previous night.

Wen Qingye still chose a seat in the corner. Liu Xuan, seemingly oblivious to Wen Qingye’s presence, chatted with the others, discussing matters concerning the Chaotic Tomb Ridge.

"Brother Wen, why do I feel like that Core Disciple from the Celestial Profound Sect keeps looking over at us?" Fang Yu asked hesitantly.

Wen Qingye smiled. "What’s wrong? If he wants to look, just let him."

Fang Yu nodded and said no more, but as he looked around, his eyes kept secretly darting toward the nearby serving girls.

Wen Qingye chuckled to himself. Suddenly, he felt a sliver of sharp, cold killing intent. Though it was just a trace, he still caught it.

He followed the direction from which the killing intent flared and saw a woman in black, calmly holding her tea. Her features were plain, yet they grew more attractive the longer one looked. Her vermilion lips parted as she took a delicate sip, her gaze fixed straight ahead. This unnaturally leaking killing intent was emanating from her.

The style of her black robes was almost identical to those worn by the old woman who had taken Yunshan, save for a few flowers on the cuffs that the old woman’s robes had lacked.

The woman also seemed to sense Wen Qingye’s gaze. She looked back at him, gave a slight smile, and then turned her eyes forward again.

’This woman’s cultivation is only at the Yin Yang Realm Eighth Layer Heaven,’ Wen Qingye thought, ’but the feeling she gives off is hardly inferior to Shii Tangyu and the others. She is definitely not as simple as she appears.’

Time trickled by, and in the blink of an eye, the banquet was coming to a close. As the boisterous crowd dispersed, Wen Qingye and Fang Yu took their leave as well.

Wen Qingye returned to his room and immediately entered a state of cultivation to stabilize his cultivation.

......

The night was clear, cold, and desolate. A sliver of moonlight pulsed, emitting several rays of cold light.

On Chaotic Tomb Ridge, it was utterly silent. The perennial Yin Qi had created an extremely oppressive atmosphere, and the air itself was damp and chillingly cold.

From time to time, a few clusters of eerie, cold flames would flicker to life, glowing green. This was the will-o’-the-wisp rising from the bones of the dead.

Outside Chaotic Tomb Ridge, an iron-clad army was stationed in a seamless formation. The several thousand soldiers were all experts at the Refining Spirit First Layer Heaven, and among them were even a few generals at the Peak of Refining Spirit. Although their individual strength was not that high, they represented the entire Jinfeng Ancient Country.

Liu Xuan stood at the head of the group. Behind them were Wang Hai, Youx Dong, Tang Rui, Shii Tangyu, and the old man from the Heaven-Burying Sect. Farther back were Wen Qingye, Fang Yu, and the rest.

Liu Xuan’s gaze swept over the crowd as they said softly, "The tomb is just ahead. This area is mostly filled with the bodies of the unclaimed or those who committed grave sins. It would be best if everyone is careful."

Before them lay what looked like a stretch of marshland. To one side of the marsh was an extremely wide cave entrance, which looked as if it had been blasted open.

The mouth of the cave seemed to be a patch of nothingness, a complete void, as if it were blocked by some great barrier that the naked eye could not penetrate.

A few bizarre-looking flying insects occasionally buzzed about the nearby marshland, feeding on the rotting flesh. The marsh itself was littered with skeletal remains.

An ordinary person, upon seeing this scene, would have long since been frightened to the point of Soul Scattering, utterly terrified.

"This entrance is the tomb?" an expert at the Sixth Level of Yin Yang Realm asked, his face paling as he stared at the pitch-black opening, a chill creeping into his heart.

Youx Dong nodded. "That’s right, this is it. See these blast marks? They were created when the Ghost-Carried Coffin suddenly burst out."

"Who’s going into the tomb first?" Wang Hai asked with a frown.

The tomb looked dark and foreboding, and there was no telling what dangers lurked inside. Although the first to enter might be the first to find treasure, no one was willing to gamble their life on it.

Tang Rui glanced at the crowd behind them, a resolute look in his eyes. "In my opinion, why don’t we let these Martial Artists behind us..."

Youx Dong waved his hand dismissively. "No need," he said boldly. "What’s there to be afraid of? I’ll go."

As he spoke, Youx Dong started walking toward the tomb.

HISS—!

A gust of sinister wind blew past, letting out an ear-piercing shriek. Everyone felt a chill run down their spine. What kind of place was this? It was a burial ground for countless dead. For tens of miles in every direction, no one dared to enter, even in broad daylight.

Youx Dong stared at the tomb and took a deep breath. He knew he had to be the one to take the lead; otherwise, no one else would be willing to go down.

With that thought, Youx Dong jumped down without a second’s hesitation.

Everyone watched as Youx Dong jumped, vanishing without a sound. All their hearts leaped into their throats. In the ink-black night, there was nothing but the ghostly howl of the wind and the sound of their own frantic heartbeats.

Wen Qingye stared at the opening. After a long moment, there was still no sound, and he couldn’t help but frown.

Fang Yu gazed at the cavern ahead and whispered in Wen Qingye’s ear, "Brother Wen, this tomb is rather strange. I can tell the Yin Qi inside is dense and heavy, and it gives off an uncomfortable feeling. In my opinion, there must be some kind of evil entity inside."

"Mm. There are definitely some evil entities inside, but there are also considerable opportunities," Wen Qingye nodded, his brow heavy with thought.

Just moments ago, he had used his Spirit Communication Eye. He had seen the surroundings suffused with a purple aura, a clear sign of significant opportunity. However, he had also seen a vast, bloody aura, which foretold immense danger.

A long time passed, but there was still no sound from Youx Dong in the tomb below. Everyone couldn’t help but grow uneasy.

"It’s safe down here!"

Suddenly, Youx Dong’s voice echoed from within the tomb. Hearing him, Liu Xuan’s tense heart finally relaxed, and their furrowed brow smoothed out. They then looked toward the crowd.

"Great, let’s hurry down now!" Shii Tangyu had been impatient for a while, and hearing Youx Dong’s voice eliminated his last shred of hesitation.

With that said, Shii Tangyu leaped down, and the others followed close behind, jumping into the tomb.

THUD!

Wen Qingye and Fang Yu leaped down as well. Their vision was immediately plunged into pitch-black, hollow emptiness.

In the pitch-black darkness where he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face, Wen Qingye remained perfectly calm, his eyes scanning his surroundings intently.

Just then, for some unknown reason, the surroundings slowly began to emit a faint glow, and everyone’s figures became clearly visible.

SQUELCH!

Suddenly, the sound of a blade sinking into flesh reached their ears. They saw a man leaning against a wall, blood gushing from his head with a gurgling sound.
