"Feng, I’ll wait for you." The young woman gazed at Sima Feng with deep affection, completely oblivious to her surroundings.
"Go on and wait, then."
Sima Feng smiled and nodded, shaking out his black robes as he prepared to leave.
"Hold it, Sima Feng! You dare provoke someone from my Zhou Family? I’d say you’re tired of living!"
Just then, a young man leaped out from the crowd, charging directly at Sima Feng with a Long Saber. The sharp blade erupted with surging Primordial Qi, unleashing a fierce and imposing power.
Listening from the side, Wen Qingye was rather surprised. ’I didn’t expect this woman and the others to all be from the Zhou Family.’
He could clearly gauge their strength. Sima Feng’s cultivation was at the Ninth Heaven of Yin Yang Realm, and his Cultivation Technique was extremely peculiar—Piaomiao and agile. The Zhou Family disciple’s cultivation was only at the Yin Yang Realm Eighth Layer Heaven. Barring any surprises, the man was no match for Sima Feng.
Sima Feng watched the approaching man without a trace of panic in his eyes. With a sharp flick of his hand, his black robe flew out, transforming into a whirlwind. It whipped up a violent, dark vortex that shot toward the Zhou Family disciple.
BANG!
The black robe sent the Zhou Family disciple’s Long Saber flying, while the disciple himself staggered back four or five steps before coming to a stop.
"Watch out, kid! Dodge!"
"Danger!"
The onlookers couldn’t help but cry out in alarm.
Just then, the black robe spun before Wen Qingye’s eyes, seemingly on its way back to Sima Feng’s hand. However, the dark whirlwind was like a returning Flying Saber, threatening to tear Wen Qingye to shreds.
Wen Qingye’s expression remained unchanged, as tranquil as a still well. But just as the black robe reached him, his hand shot down, and with a soft SHING, the One Thought Sword left its sheath.
He slashed out. The sword in his hand seemed to billow and transform into thousands of Sword Auras—an upward flick, a diagonal strike, a horizontal sweep, a straight thrust—all executed in one seamless motion. Though the moves were simple, they held Profound Mysteries.
SHRED!
The black robe turned into a flurry of black butterflies, all of identical size. They drifted gracefully through the air before slowly fluttering to the ground.
HISS!
’Such Swordsmanship!’
Everyone around gasped. ’Who in the world is this young man? His Swordsmanship is so profound!’
Sima Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly. He gave Wen Qingye a long, hard look, a trace of untamed arrogance in his gaze, and then burst into a hearty laugh. "Hahaha, we shall meet again!"
With that, his robes fluttered, and his body blurred into a black arc, vanishing from everyone’s sight.
Zhou Qing watched Sima Feng’s disappearing figure with infatuation, then leaped down from her spot.
"Qing’Er!"
"Sister Qing’Er!"
The surrounding Zhou Family members quickly gathered around Zhou Qing, looking her over from every angle, terrified that something might have happened to her.
Zhou Qing gave a faint smile. "Alright, alright, I’ve thought things through. I won’t be so foolish again. You can all relax."
Hearing Zhou Qing’s words, Zhou Zhenyuan finally relaxed. He quickly walked over to Wen Qingye, cupped his fist in greeting, and smiled. "This old man is Zhou Zhenyuan of the Zhou Family. Might I ask for this young brother’s name and where you hail from?"
’I know that sword strike was something no ordinary person could perform,’ he thought. ’The finesse of his Swordsmanship is a rarity in this world. Sima Feng’s robe flew with immense force, yet this young man used only the simplest Basic Sword Technique to perfectly embody the three words: fast, accurate, and ruthless. To cut the robe so neatly... I’ve never seen such Swordsmanship.’
"Wen Qingye," he replied with a light smile, sheathing his sword.
Though a little disappointed that Wen Qingye didn’t state his origins, Zhou Zhenyuan continued, "So, it is Young Master Wen. Thank you for your timely assistance just now..."
Wen Qingye shook his head. "No need. If I hadn’t acted, I would have been the one getting hurt."
Zhou Zhenyuan gave a dry laugh and studied Wen Qingye closely. The young man had refined features, bright and spirited eyes, and a warm smile that could put anyone at ease. An idea sparked in his mind. "Young Master Wen, you look travel-worn. Why not come and rest at my Zhou Mansion?"
Wen Qingye glanced at Zhou Zhenyuan. ’If I use the Zhou Family’s influence to obtain the Sealing Essence Bottle or its materials, it’ll surely be much faster than searching on my own.’ With that thought, he nodded. "Very well."
......
「Qinglan Ancient Country, Zhou Mansion’s Inner Hall.」
"Young Master Wen, please, have a seat," Zhou Zhenyuan said, treating Wen Qingye with great enthusiasm.
The nearby members of the Zhou Family couldn’t help but start murmuring amongst themselves.
"What do you think Third Uncle is up to? Why is he being so warm to this kid?"
"I know, right? Every time Third Uncle sees me, he looks like he wants to bite my head off. It’s so strange to see him like this today."
"What’s so strange about it? Qing’Er has driven Third Uncle to his wit’s end. If you ask me, he’s probably taken a fancy to this kid."
"For real?"
Everyone stared dumbfounded at the distant Wen Qingye, their eyes filled with shock and suspicion.
Zhou Zhenyuan had a servant bring a cup of tea, then smiled at Wen Qingye. "Young Master Wen, you don’t seem to be from our Qinglan Ancient Country. May I ask where you’re from?"
"The Celestial Martial Country," Wen Qingye replied.
A flicker of confusion crossed Zhou Zhenyuan’s eyes before he quickly added, "The Celestial Martial Country? Ah, a place of remarkable people and abundant Spirit."
Wen Qingye laughed to himself. ’This Zhou Zhenyuan has probably never even heard of the Celestial Martial Country.’
Zhou Zhenyuan then asked casually, "So, Young Master Wen, are you just passing through the Qinglan Ancient Country on your way to the Glazed Ancient Country?"
"Yes," Wen Qingye nodded.
Zhou Zhenyuan laughed. "Hahaha, in that case, Young Master Wen, why not rest at our Zhou Mansion for a few days? We have flying Spirit Beasts, you see. It would take no time at all to get you to the Glazed Ancient Country."
Zhou Qing couldn’t help but frown. "Father, the flying Spirit Beasts can’t be mobilized so easily without the Great Elder’s writ."
Zhou Zhenyuan snorted. "Hmph. I’ll go speak to the Great Elder myself. You don’t need to concern yourself with it."
"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re scheming! I’m telling you, I won’t just marry anyone!" Zhou Qing shot to her feet and shouted angrily, her eyes sweeping over Wen Qingye.
"Sit down!" Zhou Zhenyuan roared, his eyes filled with uncontrollable rage.
Zhou Qing paused, then snorted delicately. "I won’t sit down. I’ll just stand."
"Then stand," Zhou Zhenyuan said before turning back to Wen Qingye with a smile. "Young Master Wen, what do you say?"
Wen Qingye nodded. "Very well. There’s no harm in staying at the Zhou Mansion for a few days. As it happens, I have some urgent matters to attend to."
Hearing Wen Qingye agree, Zhou Qing grew anxious. "Who said you could stay at the Zhou Mansion? I didn’t agree to it! It’s not like I’m interested in you!"
Wen Qingye shook his head. ’This father-daughter duo is quite interesting,’ he thought. ’I haven’t said a word, yet they’re acting as if I’ve already agreed to some arrangement.’
Ignoring Zhou Qing, Zhou Zhenyuan called out loudly, "Steward Wang! Come and arrange a room for Young Master Wen!"
Just then, a middle-aged man walked in through the doorway and said respectfully to Wen Qingye, "This way, Young Master."
Wen Qingye nodded and followed Steward Wang out.
Watching Wen Qingye’s back disappear, Zhou Zhenyuan nodded in satisfaction, secretly making a resolution. ’This kid is definitely no worse than that Sima Feng. I must find a way to make him stay.’
Meanwhile, Zhou Qing was grinding her teeth in frustration. She muttered, "No, absolutely not. I have to drive this kid away. A toad lusting after a swan—the nerve!"
Zhou Zhenyuan seemed to hear her muttering and shot her a glare. "Hmph. Don’t you dare cause any trouble. It would be for the best if I married you off sooner rather than later."
With that, Zhou Zhenyuan turned and walked toward the back hall.
