Wen Qingye continued to swing his sword, the golden light flaring even brighter. He stood tall and proud, like a king looking down on all creation.
"First Form of the Sword Emperor Technique! Massacre!"
With a single sweep, the blade seemed to unleash thousands of sword-shadows, as if to blot out the sky.
It was as if the shouts of a thousand armies echoed around them.
"Massa..."
"Massacre...."
The golden light and specks of starlight collided. Wen Qingye’s Sword Aura was domineering, its presence unrivaled. Wang Hai’s Sword Aura, in contrast, was vast and surging, full of unbridled energy.
The two lights each occupied half of the sky, splitting the world between them.
BANG!
A wave of energy erupted, sending both men flying backward.
The difference was that as Wang Hai was sent flying, he spat out a mouthful of blood, a clear sign of internal injury. Wen Qingye, meanwhile, had only grown pale.
Stunned, Wang Hai wiped the blood from his lips. The truth was laid bare before him: he was not Wen Qingye’s match. Had Wen Qingye not just fought ninety-seven consecutive bouts, Wang Hai would have already been defeated.
"This Wen Qingye from the Celestial Profound Sect is incredible. Even after fighting over ninety matches, he can still injure Wang Hai."
"In my opinion, in a fair fight, Wang Hai would be no match for Wen Qingye."
"But it’s a pity. After such a fierce exchange, Wen Qingye must have used up most of his Primordial Qi."
"That’s right. If Wang Hai just stalls for time, Wen Qingye is sure to lose."
The crowd felt a pang of regret. They knew Wen Qingye was truly powerful, but he was now an arrow at the end of its flight. Defeating Wang Hai seemed simply impossible.
"I underestimated you, kid." Wang Hai’s voice was devoid of expression as he stared at Wen Qingye. "You should feel honored. You get to witness the Fifth Kill of my July Killing Heart Sword Technique."
From the very beginning, the battle between Wen Qingye and Wang Hai had defied everyone’s expectations.
They had never imagined that Wang Hai would be the one to come out at a disadvantage. The July Killing Heart Sword Technique of Taiyi Pavilion was undeniably strong; any other Martial Artist at the Yin Yang Realm Eighth Layer Heaven probably wouldn’t have survived the First Kill.
But Wen Qingye seemed to be a miracle worker. He had met the First Kill with casual ease, and he had successfully blocked the second without suffering a single scratch.
Wen Qingye blocked the Third Kill as well. The Fourth Kill wasn’t even fully executed before Wen Qingye’s powerful aura suppressed it, revealing an opening. This was the turning point, the moment Wang Hai started losing.
Everyone present had to admit they had underestimated Wen Qingye. Even after ninety-seven consecutive matches, his strength remained formidable, and his terrifyingly exquisite Swordsmanship was stunning enough to be the work of a ghost or god.
The crowd realized it was impossible to defeat Wen Qingye by competing in the subtlety of techniques or the power of Martial Arts. The only way was to overwhelm him with sheer cultivation.
When they heard Wang Hai was about to unleash the Fifth Kill of the July Killing Heart Sword Technique, a shock went through the crowd. Their hearts hammered in their chests, and their faces flushed with excitement.
The Zhou Family’s Great Elder shook his head and sighed. "Heavens... As expected of a disciple from Taiyi Pavilion. To use an Emperor-Grade Martial Arts so casually."
"The Fifth Kill?" The Vice Hall Master of Qinglan Hall’s eyes lit up, his interest clearly piqued.
Zhou Zhenyuan said worriedly, "The Fifth Kill of the July Killing Heart Sword Technique... with Wang Hai’s power, it’s strong enough to instantly kill an ordinary Martial Artist at the Peak of Ninth Heaven of Yin Yang Realm."
"Hmph. Good. I hope he is killed," Zhou Qing muttered, unable to stop a sneer from twisting her lips.
......
Two beams of light suddenly shot from Wang Hai’s eyes. In that instant, the very air seemed to freeze. An aura as heavy as a mountain pressed down on Wen Qingye, battering him relentlessly.
"July Killing Heart Sword Technique, Fifth Kill!"
Wang Hai’s figure shot forward like a bolt of lightning, his speed beyond description. He was like a ray of auroral light in a sea of stars, crossing the endless void to descend upon Wen Qingye.
What was even more terrifying was that the silver sword seemed to emit a strange, divine light that shot directly toward Wen Qingye’s Primordial Spirit. It truly lived up to the name of the Sword Technique: Killing Heart.
Wang Hai was confident this single strike would be enough to annihilate Wen Qingye, leaving him no chance of survival.
"Wen Qingye is in danger!"
The hair on Zhou Sheng’s arms stood on end. He stared without blinking.
"That strike... it’s terrifying! My heart is about to leap out of my chest!"
Jieming, his face deathly pale, stood beside the Vice Hall Master of Qinglan Hall. As a fellow disciple of a major Sect, he knew with certainty that he would have died instantly from such a strike, with no hope of survival.
"Sigh... I’m still so far behind," Deng Jiuxian lamented, shaking his head from his place in the crowd as a sense of despair washed over him. "The people from Taiyi Pavilion are too strong. This Sword Technique can even slay a Primordial Spirit... It’s just unbelievably powerful."
"Die!"
Wang Hai thrust his silver sword forward, the attack erupting with ultimate force. For a moment, the blade shone with the light of an exploding star—exceptionally fast, exceptionally brilliant.
July Killing Heart Sword Technique!
Its purpose was to kill the heart!
"Hmph." Seeing the sword fly toward him, Wen Qingye’s body shuddered. He frantically gathered what little Primordial Qi he had left. He raised the One Thought Sword, holding it level with the tip pointed east.
CRACKLE!
A dazzling golden light filled the sky. In that moment, Wen Qingye’s form seemed to grow larger, imbued with supreme majesty. A domineering aura shot into the heavens, and his gaze was that of one who looked down upon the entire world.
"Third Form of the Sword Emperor Technique! Shake the Mountains and Rivers!"
Wielding the sword in one hand, he slashed down at Wang Hai.
The enormous golden Sword Aura was blinding. Waves of energy rolled out, parting madly to either side.
The brilliant starlight and the golden Sword Aura finally collided. There was no sound, an eerie silence that inspired fear.
Wen Qingye watched Wang Hai, hidden within the starlight, and thought, ’Taiyi Pavilion... the second one.’
The next moment!
A horrifying scene unfolded. Wang Hai’s strike, which had transformed into starlight—a strike of ultimate speed—seemed to freeze in place. The golden Sword Aura had blocked his coiled-up attack, and its unstoppable momentum instantly collapsed into nothing.
’How is this possible!’ Wang Hai roared in his heart.
The golden glow grew ever stronger as the starlight faded. Wang Hai’s silver sword slowly came into view. He stared ahead in terror.
He could only watch as Wen Qingye rushed before him, thrusting his sword forward without mercy.
PUFF!
A cold gleam swept past them both.
Half of Wang Hai’s neck had been sliced open. Blood sprayed into the air like a fountain.
THUD!
Wang Hai collapsed, his body sliding across the ground from the momentum. He left a trail of blood several yards long. His aura was gone, and his eyes remained wide open in a final, furious glare.
Wen Qingye, however, had not moved an inch. He remained standing in the same spot.
Time seemed to stand still. No one knew how long had passed.
"He’s dead! Wang Hai is dead!"
Finally, someone in the crowd cried out in shock.
