Just as Hankong was about to seize the purple Dao Pattern, a great saber came slashing down from the void. Hankong twisted around and looked toward Tu Bai, who floated in the distance with a massive saber slung over his shoulder.
"I have my eye on this Martial Art as well," Tu Bai said to Hankong, grinning and revealing a set of perfectly white teeth.
Upon hearing Tu Bai’s words, Hankong couldn’t help but laugh. "It seems it’s been so long since I’ve shown what I can do that some people have already forgotten me."
With that, he gently raised his palm, as if propping something up.
Instantly, the surrounding Primordial Qi seemed to grow still. It slowly converged above Hankong’s right palm, forming a mirror-like barrier that hovered flat above his hand, shimmering with a watery light.
Tu Bai snorted. Grasping his giant saber, he swung it down in a heavy slash. "Stop with the pointless theatrics," he sneered. "Watch my Overlord Saber shatter your little trick!"
As he finished speaking, a massive blade materialized and descended from the sky, carrying enough force to sunder mountains and part rivers as it crashed down.
Standing under the descending blade, Hankong felt the hair on his arms stand on end. His Heart Spirit trembled. ’This man is formidable. When did someone like him appear in the Eastern Profound Domain?’
The shimmering barrier floated above Hankong, rising to meet the massive blade head-on.
BANG!
The blade slammed into the barrier, looking as if it had gotten stuck halfway through. But the domineering aura radiating from it was irrepressible, and everyone present could feel its might.
"Incredible! The sheer power overflowing from that one strike almost made me lose control of my Heart Spirit!"
"Mad Saber Tu Bai... He’s incredibly skilled."
"He’s definitely been underestimated on the Cyan Cloud List."
...
The crowd’s attention was immediately drawn back to the fierce battle between the two. A moment later, however, everyone came to their senses and turned to look at two blue Dao Patterns up ahead.
Several more masters from various Sects appeared, all of them experts at the Ninth Heaven of the Yin-Yang Realm. A few were even on the Cyan Cloud List.
WHOOSH!
The Great Wilderness Ancient Stele released more Dao Patterns, and the ensuing purple radiance was so brilliant it stung the eyes of the onlookers.
Wen Qingye’s eyes fell on one particular Martial Art, and his interest was piqued. ’This one is interesting. It’s a Sword Dao Martial Art that utilizes the vibrations of Primordial Qi Strength. It would be difficult to master, but quite powerful if applied correctly.’
With that thought, Wen Qingye’s figure vanished from where he stood, and he shot toward the purple Dao Pattern at the forefront.
Just as Wen Qingye rushed toward the purple Dao Pattern, another figure shot over. He was a young prodigy, a genius from the Fengchi Ancient Country, one of the Seven Great Ancient Countries.
The genius from the Fengchi Ancient Country saw Wen Qingye, then glanced at the purple Dao Pattern. Unwilling to concede, he immediately launched a fist at Wen Qingye.
"This Dao Pattern is mine!"
Wen Qingye stated calmly, striking out with a palm toward the newcomer.
Their palms met with no flashy moves, simply slamming into one another.
In an instant, the expression on the face of the genius from the Fengchi Ancient Country changed drastically, and his body was sent flying backward.
Wen Qingye retracted his palm and was just about to seize the purple Dao Pattern when an overwhelming, tsunami-like force erupted from behind him.
’A master!’
At that thought, Wen Qingye immediately leaped away and spun around to see who it was.
He saw Zhong Tiandao standing a short distance away, looking at him with arrogance. "Wen Qingye," Zhong Tiandao announced, "I, Zhong Tiandao of the Daoist School of Non-action, claim this Dao Pattern."
"The Daoist School of Non-action?" Wen Qingye’s eyes flickered toward Liang Qing in the distance, his expression remaining perfectly calm.
Zhong Tiandao naturally noticed Wen Qingye’s glance. He tilted his head back and said, "Wen Qingye, our Sects are both among the six Major Sects of the Eastern Profound Domain, so I don’t wish for this to become a prolonged conflict. But don’t mistake that for fear. My Daoist School of Non-action does not fear your Celestial Profound Sect, and I, Zhong Tiandao, certainly do not fear you. Take a step back now, and we can part on amicable terms."
Wen Qingye nodded and said nonchalantly, "Defeat me, and I’ll no longer vie for this Dao Pattern."
Zhong Tiandao was the most formidable expert the Daoist School of Non-action had sent on this occasion. He had killed Mr. Jade, a man who had been ranked above him. His strength was extraordinary, but he was also a ruthless and vicious individual.
’This Wen Qingye...’ Su Qingyun couldn’t help but shake his head. ’He’s already incurred the wrath of the Taiyi Pavilion. Once the Great Wilderness Ancient Stele vanishes, a world-shaking battle is inevitable. If he offends the Daoist School of Non-action now, he’ll be caught between two fronts. Everyone knows the Daoist School of Non-action and the Baoling Temple stand together.’
Hearing this, Zhong Tiandao was so furious he began to laugh. "Good! I’ll take this opportunity to avenge Junior Brother Liang for that single sword strike!"
With that, his body blurred into a trail of afterimages as he charged toward Wen Qingye.
Zhong Tiandao’s cultivation was at the peak of the Ninth Heaven of the Yin-Yang Realm. His Primordial Qi had long been tempered and compressed, making it incomparably vigorous.
A single palm strike sent a fierce gale radiating outward, suppressing the surroundings.
Wen Qingye didn’t draw his sword. As he faced the boundlessly arrogant Zhong Tiandao, his figure flickered, seeming to vanish into a vast sea of clouds.
BANG!
The crowd heard a violent impact, only to see that Wen Qingye had already reappeared in front of Zhong Tiandao, his fist meeting the other’s palm.
Both were forced back three steps.
"A fine exchange!"
Zhong Tiandao bellowed, stomped his foot, and launched another palm strike at Wen Qingye.
’He was confident that if Wen Qingye, given his cultivation level, tried to match him blow for blow, Wen Qingye would be the one to lose in the end.’
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG...
Debris flew through the air as streams of Primordial Qi crisscrossed the battlefield.
All the crowd could hear was a continuous series of sonic booms. They couldn’t see the fighters’ movements at all; even some of the experts at the Ninth Heaven of the Yin-Yang Realm couldn’t make out the specifics of their exchange.
Nangong Xin watched Wen Qingye’s figure vanish into the void and couldn’t help but give a bitter smile. "Has he already reached such a level?"
Cao Yun’s expression was grim. ’If Wen Qingye were fighting Zhu Yan, he might have held out a sliver of hope for Zhu Yan’s victory. But watching this... all he felt was despair.’
THUD!
Suddenly, a black shadow plummeted from the sky, crashing heavily onto a massive boulder. The impact of his body crushed the rock, grinding it into fine powder. It was none other than Zhong Tiandao.
High in the sky, a figure in white stood at the zenith, gazing down with an impassive expression.
Zhong Tiandao slowly climbed to his feet, coughing up several mouthfuls of blood. He looked up at Wen Qingye and said, "Wen Qingye, I underestimated you. You are truly powerful."
Wen Qingye just smiled and shook his head, offering no reply.
"Now I’ll show you the true might of the Daoist School of Non-action! Third Form of the Wandering Dragon Bagua Palm! Hidden Dragon Soaring!"
Zhong Tiandao let out a great roar. With a thrust of his palm, the surrounding Primordial Qi flowed smoothly toward his hand, coalescing into the shape of a dragon that then soared toward Wen Qingye.
ROAR!
The soaring dragon let out a tremendous roar that shook the air.
As the dragon flew toward him, Wen Qingye’s expression remained unchanged. He shifted his stance slightly and raised a palm. A stream of pure white energy slowly rose and coiled around his body as the tip of his foot began to trace patterns on the ground.
The movement was identical to Fangg Xin’s—no, it possessed even more spiritual essence and imposing momentum than the version performed by the Fangg Xin whom Fang Yu had called extraordinary.
"Ninth Form of the Wandering Dragon Bagua Palm! Leaping in the Abyss!"
Wen Qingye shot high into the air, his palm leading his body forward like a mighty dragon raising its head to charge into the heavens.
BOOM!
In the void, the pure, white energy slammed into the massive dragon, and both attacks dissipated into nothingness.
Zhong Tiandao stumbled backward, step after step, an incredulous and utterly indescribable expression on his face.
