Wen Qingye stared at Le Qian and the few Heaven-Burying Sect disciples up ahead. As he rapidly closed the distance, a vicious glint flashed in his eyes.
Le Qian’s cultivation was at the Destruction Realm Eighth Layer Heaven, making him exceptionally fast. The disciples of the Heaven-Burying Sect, however, weren’t so fortunate.
In an instant, Wen Qingye caught up to the five who had fallen behind. When they saw him, their expressions changed drastically. They immediately made a decision, and one of them shouted.
"The five of us will hold him back—"
Before the man could even finish his sentence, Wen Qingye strode on the wind. With a flash of his sword, a cold light gleamed, and then there was nothing more.
SQUELCH. SQUELCH. SQUELCH. SQUELCH. SQUELCH...
Streaks of blood sprayed out, dancing in the air like beautiful, crimson flowers—a breathtakingly grim sight.
Le Qian was aghast to see how fast Wen Qingye was, and how ruthless his strikes were. ’How is his power this immense? He wasn’t like this at all when we were attacking the Flaming Three-Headed Dog!’
In his mind, the reason he had fled was not Wen Qingye, but the Ice Python. Now, however, it felt as though he was finally seeing Wen Qingye’s true power, piercing through a hazy fog.
Le Qian sucked in a sharp breath as he watched the five men fall in an instant.
’This Wen Qingye’s strength is beyond my expectations.’
At this, Le Qian pushed his speed to its limit once more, rocketing forward.
Wen Qingye channeled the Swift Wind Law into his Primordial Qi. He rode the wind, his speed becoming impossibly fast.
The wind was wild and swift, too fast for the eye to follow, its momentum like Thunderous Force.
The howling gales surged around Wen Qingye, rushing toward him in a frantic, churning torrent. His body seemed to slowly melt into the heart of the storm.
Silently, Wen Qingye’s speed surged once more. This wasn’t a mere acceleration like Le Qian’s; it was a qualitative breakthrough.
A breakthrough in the Swift Wind Law: the Second Layer of the Human Dao.
WHOOSH!
A flash of cyan light streaked by, and Wen Qingye’s figure appeared just a short distance from Le Qian.
Le Qian’s mind went blank as he sensed Wen Qingye closing in from behind at incredible speed.
’So, I and Lei Hao were hiding our true strength, waiting for a chance to shine and achieve our goals... but it looks like I wasn’t the only one. Wen Qingye was hiding his power too.’
Le Qian knew it was impossible to escape. He screeched to a halt, glaring at Wen Qingye and snorting coldly. "Fine, Wen Qingye! Summon your Demon Beast! I’d like to see just how impressive a creature at the Life and Death Realm First Layer Heaven truly is."
Wen Qingye also came to a stop. "To deal with you," he said grimly, "I alone am enough."
"You alone? You’re not even close to being enough."
Le Qian was overjoyed to hear this. ’Wen Qingye’s strength seems decent,’ he thought, ’but I’m really not afraid of him.’
"I’m just curious," Wen Qingye said, his mind sharp enough to piece together everything Yann Chuxue had seen from the smallest clues. "Why did you betray the Celestial Thunder Hall? Why go so far as to kill your own sect brothers?"
Le Qian’s face twisted. "You wouldn’t understand. Today, one of us will die. There’s nothing more to say!"
A frigid light seemed to burst from Le Qian’s eyes. Unable to wait any longer, he threw a punch. A majestic tide of Primordial Qi surged toward Wen Qingye like a colossal wave.
BOOM!
Pale golden Primordial Qi erupted from within Wen Qingye. He faced Le Qian’s assault without retreating an inch, throwing a punch of his own. The two astonishing torrents of Primordial Qi clashed violently in the sky.
A massive boom echoed as a shockwave of Primordial Qi radiated outward. A piercing sonic boom tore through the sky, and the raging storm of energy howled, seemingly expelling all the air from the area.
Le Qian stared at Wen Qingye, his heart in turmoil. ’His Primordial Qi reserves are only a sliver less than mine, but the purity... it’s incredible. And it’s so tyrannical that it’s actually suppressing my own!’
Wen Qingye remained silent, his gaze lifting slightly. His skin began to emit a faint, five-colored light, and beneath it, strange Profound Mysteries seemed to flow.
Le Qian watched Wen Qingye, a sense of alarm rising in his heart. He knew that in this state, Wen Qingye was exceptionally dangerous—even without his sword drawn.
BOOM!
Radiating a five-colored luminescence, Wen Qingye took a single step. His figure shot out like a bolt of lightning, and in a flash, he appeared before Le Qian. A golden Fist Force, churning with Primordial Qi, smashed mercilessly toward Le Qian’s chest.
’My cultivation is at the Destruction Realm Eighth Layer Heaven! Why should I fear a mere Wen Qingye?’
Le Qian’s expression turned cold as he shot out a palm of his own. Pushing his internal Primordial Qi to its absolute limit, his every movement now held the power to shatter mountains and part rivers.
CLANG!
The clash of fist and palm rang out with the sound of striking metal. A peerlessly violent wave of Primordial Qi swept out like a hurricane. Both figures shuddered violently from the impact and were sent flying back several dozen yards.
"Wen Qingye, you truly are formidable! Worthy of being the heaven-chosen prodigy who defeated the seven masters of Taiyi Pavilion. But right now, you’re still lacking by more than just a little!"
Le Qian let out a great shout and slowly closed his eyes. As he did, the monstrous Primordial Qi behind him erupted into a frenzy. The instant it began to surge, a peal of thunder seemed to echo across the world.
After the thunderclap, the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi in the area seemed to stir, showing faint signs of unrest.
Wen Qingye’s brow furrowed, his expression turning grave.
’Le Qian’s strength really is impressive. A cultivation at the Destruction Realm Eighth Layer Heaven is enough to become a True Disciple in the Celestial Thunder Hall. But he’s already fought a battle with Yann Chuxue and is now lightly injured.’
Comparing the two, Wen Qingye was slightly inferior in terms of the sheer depth of his Primordial Qi, but not by much. However, the Primordial Qi in his body, tempered by Dragon’s Might, was all the more tyrannical.
RUMBLE.
Majestic Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi howled across the sky, raging like a fierce gale. Le Qian suddenly threw his head back and bellowed. The roar of a Thunder God echoed between heaven and earth as a dazzling black light erupted from within his body.
The black light spread, pulsing deep behind him. It roiled and howled, forming what looked like a black ocean of churning waves, blotting out the sky with its terrifying power.
Le Qian’s eyes snapped open, his gaze piercing. Black arcs of electricity crackled on his palms. As they slithered about, the massive black waves behind him began to churn ceaselessly.
Churning, howling!
The black waves seemed to possess the power to corrode all things, as if they could rush over in an instant. With each surge, the dark tide carried flashes of black lightning, like a colossal beast roaring in fury.
Le Qian lifted his baleful eyes and locked his gaze on Wen Qingye. A frigid glint shone in his eyes as his low voice drifted across the sky.
"Thunder Sea Tides!"
Ripples, visible to the naked eye, spread outward. A low hum grew in intensity until, in the next instant, it seemed to fill the entire world.
And then, the massive black waves swept toward Wen Qingye. With immeasurable might, wave crashed upon wave in a surging, unstoppable tide.
Wen Qingye watched the black tide sweeping toward him from across the sky, his eyes perfectly calm. Gazing forward with an air of indifference, he began to form hand seals.
