Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory

Chapter 1238: The Wind Refused to Die

Ethan wasn’t about to accept that.

He rose into the air and threw out a white formation array in rapid succession. The array unfurled in front of him, lightning patterns inside it lighting up in a blur. The next instant, streak after streak of white lightning fired from the formation and hammered down into the ruins.

Booms stacked on booms.

The ground around the ruins—already flattened by earlier impacts—got carpet-bombed again. Huge swaths of earth split open. Rocks rolled and tumbled. Dust climbed in layers. The once-smooth clearing was quickly turned into a cratered, wrecked mess.

But the core building still didn’t fall.

That was when Queen Seraphine stepped through the air, slow and composed, until she reached Ethan’s side.

"My lord, let me lend you my strength!"

In her left palm, she carried a bright sphere, pure Light Force flowing inside it like liquid sun. In her other hand, a deep-black orb churned with dense deathly aura. One bright, one dark—she held them steady, then offered them to Ethan.

Ethan didn’t hesitate.

He pulled back his formation array. With a flick of his fingers, a strand of white lightning snapped into existence, linking the two orbs in Queen Seraphine’s hands. He forcibly dragged Light Force and death energy together. Brightness and blackness twisted around each other, and the white lightning speared through them, compressing everything into a single sphere that radiated a muted gray glow.

Queen Seraphine flicked her wrist, sending the gray sphere down toward the ruins.

It flew painfully slowly.

So slow you could track it with your eyes.

And yet everywhere it passed, space cracked inch by inch. Fractures spread like spiderwebs around it. Wind noise dulled. Light bent. The air itself seemed unable to bear the blended power of death and Light Force, collapsing away to either side.

The reverse winds vanished the instant it approached.

The shield in front of the ruins appeared again.

This time it was deep green—and it no longer covered the whole building. Instead, it concentrated everything into a single point, trying to meet the gray sphere head-on.

Ethan and Queen Seraphine didn’t wait around to watch.

They flew back to the others. The moment they crossed into the protection of the shield, a piercing screech—like a barrier tearing apart—rang out behind them.

The gray sphere, carrying perfectly interwoven death and Light Force and braided through with white lightning, tore straight through the deep-green shield. The focused defense lasted only a moment before it split outward from the impact point, cracking across its surface. The gray sphere slipped inside with ridiculous ease.

Everyone turned.

The ruins were still... perfectly fine.

Ethan stared at the spot where the reverse winds had disappeared. He went quiet for a few seconds, then motioned for the group to move in.

They were going to see what was really in there.

They just didn’t realize yet—

This ruin might not be the same ruin anymore.

That gray sphere’s power had already obliterated the original structure down to nothing. The way it moved, breaking its own speed limit, was basically the same as piercing space. The intact building in front of them looked less like it had survived...

...and more like something had been swapped in—an identical replacement.

Those "shattered fragments" might’ve been any brick under their feet.

Once they entered, wind-made creatures appeared along the way.

They were condensed from wind, their bodies constantly flowing at the edges, cores hidden deep in the chest or skull. But before they could truly close in, Seraphina would smash a core with one swipe of her claw, or Andona would run one through with a clean thrust.

Namyanna held the rear.

Her trident pointed forward as a deep-blue ocean surged into being behind her. At first it was only an energy phantom, but it quickly thickened into something real—forming a massive whirlpool sea giant. The giant charged into the wind cluster ahead, arms churning the tides, forcing those high-speed rotations to a stop by brute pressure.

Elira lifted into the air as well.

She shrank back into a small butterfly and drifted lightly above the ruin. Her eyes lingered on the highest point—the spire that stood like a sword stabbing the sky.

A beam of light gathered at her chest.

Behind her, the huge phantom of a Divine Sovereign Moth rose into view. It spread its wings, light flowing along the patterns like veins, then fired a brilliant lance at the spire.

The instant the beam touched, it bounced back.

Elira’s body swelled larger. Divine Sovereign Moth wings opened across the air. She stared hard at the spire, runes on her wings flashing as she fired tens of thousands of energy orbs in a relentless stream.

None of it mattered.

The orbs hit the spire and either rebounded or simply vanished. In the end, Elira could only revert to her girl form and fly back to Ethan.

And that sword-like spire?

It had already been replaced who-knows-how-many times while nobody was paying attention. The old spire crumbled into fine sand that drifted away soundlessly, and a new spire rose in the exact same place like nothing had happened.

Ethan and the others climbed the steps, floor by floor.

The ruin had nine levels.

Almost every level had something around mid Tier 35 guarding it. The moment those wind-born lives appeared, their pressure carved tight, fine marks into the stairs and walls. Ethan had been ready to solve it with a single energy sphere—

—but Seraphina and Andona were already charging.

Seraphina shattered one core with a dragon-claw strike. Andona pierced another with her blade.

Ethan glanced at the two of them, decided there was no point competing, and kept moving upward with the rest.

Before long, they reached the top.

There was no throne, no palace—just a pale-blue magic formation. Diagrams were placed around the wide open platform, ancient lines running across the ground and converging into the central array.

Elira looked around, curiosity written all over her face.

The moment she stepped close, a wind blast formed inside the array and shot straight at her.

She’d been ready.

The massive Divine Sovereign Moth phantom flashed behind her, and she transformed into the Divine Sovereign Moth herself, darting around the open space in tight, agile arcs. The wind blast spun after her. For a moment it looked like Elira had the advantage—her path was slippery, unpredictable, and she repeatedly pulled ahead.

Then everyone saw what was wrong.

The wind blast was accelerating.

Elira stopped playing.

As she flew, she fired beam after beam into it. Behind her, the Divine Sovereign Moth’s wings screamed through the air, rune-eyes locked on the wind blast like a roaming turret, dumping nonstop fire backward.

The hits felt like nothing.

Like scratching an itch.

The wind blast didn’t slow. It got faster.

Ethan lifted a hand and fired a white lightning bolt.

It snapped into the center of the platform, timed perfectly, then lanced toward the wind blast chasing Elira. But layers of reverse wind rose around the blast—rings spinning over rings. The reverse wind swallowed Ethan’s lightning in a single blink, absorbing it until nothing remained.

The wind blast sped up again.

Queen Elowen stepped onto the center as if she were walking on ice.

With every step, a sheet of crystalline frost spread under her feet. Extreme cold rolled out from her body, the surrounding air dropping fast. Even the wind at the edge of the pale-blue formation slowed, as if it had been grabbed by the throat.

In front of her—

The wind blast’s "speed" fell to something almost walkable.

Extreme ice was never a joke.

Near Queen Elowen, even time felt like it had been frozen into slush.

She raised her hand and condensed a blue-ice energy sphere, then fired it straight at the wind blast. Seeing that, Elira finally relaxed, slowed, and with a flap of her wings zipped back to the center, hiding behind Elowen.

The wind blast was invaded by frost, its speed steadily dropping.

Cold gathered around it as it tried to change direction, like it wanted to swing around and attack the people in the center instead.

It couldn’t.

Elowen’s cold had locked down everything around it. Crystal-white shards kept flaking off the wind blast’s surface.

In the end, its speed fell all the way to zero.

It stopped. Completely still.
