Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory

Chapter 1313: The Silence Was a Trap

Ataneya moved first.

Twenty-four fox tails fanned out behind her, then shot forward from different angles at the same time. The tails crossed and interwove, sealing off the little dinosaur’s space above, below, and to both sides—ready to bind it in the center and lock it down.

Andona lifted off the ground as well.

Pairs of golden wings unfolded one after another, Light Force surging along the feathers and pooling into her body. Her silhouette was swallowed by brilliant, flame-like radiance—then she became a straight lance of gold, slipping through the gaps between the fox tails and ramming head-on toward the little dinosaur.

High above, Seraphina claimed the opposite angle.

Her massive dragon body dipped low, jaws yawning open. A dragon roar detonated from deep in her throat, forming visible rings of shockwaves that spread out first, washing over the little dinosaur’s position.

At the same time, she raised a dragon claw and stomped down along the path her roar carved out.

Fox tails.

Holy light.

Dragon claw.

Three forces closed in from three directions.

The little dinosaur stayed where it was, watching the incoming attacks with open curiosity.

Hellish power crackled along the surface of Ataneya’s tails. A faint tremor rang out from the golden feather-flames around Andona. Seraphina’s roar battered the creature’s mind in repeating waves.

And from inside the little dinosaur’s body, the sound of mechanical structures grinding and colliding kept spilling out.

Click.

Click-click.

Its mechanical eyes spun fast.

For the first time, it looked afraid.

But instead of dodging, it hesitantly lifted its head and roared back at them.

The roar wasn’t loud.

Not at first.

But the moment it left its mouth, it fused with a violent surge of power pouring out from within. A heavy, steel-stink pressure rode the soundwave outward. The air compressed into an invisible wall and slammed straight into everyone.

BOOM!

Ataneya’s fox tails were blown back, snapping hard in the wind.

Andona’s golden flames shook violently, her charge forced off-line. Seraphina’s descending claw stalled midair, her huge body sliding backward under the pressure.

The people on the ground fared even worse.

Robes, hair, and wings all whipped backward. A few of them were actually lifted off their feet and thrown, tumbling across the plain.

Seraphine flashed to the front at once.

She spread both hands, and golden holy light rose from her palms, forming a complete barrier in front of the group.

The steel shockwave hit the wall of light head-on.

The golden barrier caved inward, shoved back several meters, its base carving two deep grooves into the gray-black earth.

But it held.

The attack was blocked.

The little dinosaur lowered its gaze to its own claws, then looked up at the group being flipped around by its shockwave.

The red glow in its mechanical eyes brightened.

It was clearly pleased with itself.

Excited, it spread its arms like it was about to leap into their embrace—

And then eat every last one of them.

But the moment it took a step forward, the black particles beside it snapped together.

Ethan came out of his particle state.

The instant his body formed, he was already standing at the little dinosaur’s side. His right fist rose from his waist, pure physical force exploding through shoulder and arm as he drove it forward.

BAM!

His punch landed square on the creature’s face.

The metal armor caved at the point of impact. The shock ran through its skull into its body, and the little dinosaur was sent flying sideways. It rolled across the ground, smashing through several shallow craters before finally stopping.

It lay sprawled in the distance, its mechanical eyes flickering.

It clearly still hadn’t figured out where Ethan had appeared from.

Slowly, it lifted its head.

Didn’t understand?

Then it would test it itself.

Seraphina and Andona were already closing again.

The dragon pressed down from above, claw and tail slamming in from two directions at once. On the other side, Andona swung her golden blade, multiple arcs of Light Force slicing toward the little dinosaur.

Power surged in and swallowed the target.

But right as the strikes landed, a thick steel plate rose up in front of the little dinosaur.

Dragon claw, holy light, and golden sword arcs crashed into the plate in rapid succession.

CLANG!

The metallic impact echoed across the plain.

The steel plate only bowed slightly, a few shallow marks carved across its surface. Seraphina and Andona’s hits landed with about as much effect as scraping.

The little dinosaur hid behind the plate, both claws hugging its head.

A few seconds later, like it had confirmed the outside attacks weren’t truly dangerous, it peeked out from the side of the plate.

Then it stepped out fully.

But it didn’t come out alone.

Dozens of mechanical tentacles extended from its back.

Each one was built from layered metal joints, the tips fitted with blades, drills, and different styles of mechanical claws. They swayed through the air, clacking and ringing when they struck one another.

Ethan dropped back down to the ground.

Seraphina shifted back into human form, standing with Andona as they stared at the little dinosaur that had looked timid just moments ago.

Now?

It didn’t look harmless at all.

Ethan didn’t attack immediately.

He glanced over his shoulder at Catheryn.

Catheryn understood.

Darkness spread from under her feet, and an Umbral Servitor formed at her side. The tall shadow melted into the dim landscape, gliding soundlessly over the ground until it reached the little dinosaur’s vicinity.

Right then, Auri sensed something wrong.

She could feel life force surging out of the little dinosaur’s body.

That energy was unstable.

As it spread through the creature’s mechanical structure, the little dinosaur’s excited, chaotic emotion started shifting—changing into something else.

Auri didn’t have time to explain.

She immediately called the other three little ones over—and without caring whether Ethan agreed or not, four streaks of light shot into Ethan’s body at the same time.

Ethan glanced down at his chest.

Right.

"Hop in first, ask permission later."

Up ahead, the little dinosaur suddenly went quiet.

The mechanical tentacles on its back stopped waving. The red glow in its eyes dimmed. It lowered its head and stood there, motionless, like it had fallen asleep on its feet.

The Umbral Servitor was already beside it.

The little dinosaur didn’t react at all.

But nobody relaxed.

Kaelira and Seraphine both abandoned their attacks. Purple-red energy and holy Light Force spread out from both sides, stacking shields around the group.

Catheryn, meanwhile, kept her control steady and sent the Umbral Servitor forward.

The shadow servant circled to the dinosaur’s side first, confirming the tentacles weren’t moving. Then it slowly raised a hand and gently touched the small foreclaw hanging from the creature’s lowered head.

One second.

Two.

Time slid by.

No attack.

No change.

Just as everyone was about to decide it was safe—

The dozens of mechanical tentacles on the dinosaur’s back snapped up at once.

Blades stabbed in from every angle, spearing the Umbral Servitor.

The shadow didn’t even have time to retreat. Its body was pierced through, metal joints yanking outward, tearing it apart by brute force until the dark form shredded into rapidly dispersing black mist.

Catheryn took the backlash and stumbled back several steps.

Darkness rippled under her feet.

She steadied herself quickly—but the smile on her face vanished.

The little dinosaur was lifted off the ground, held aloft by its own tentacles.

The red light in its mechanical eyes flared back to life, locking onto the group. It raised its tiny foreclaw and pointed forward.

With the command given, the tentacles didn’t hesitate.

Dozens of long metal limbs surged out low across the ground and through the air at the same time. Blades tore at defenses, drills screamed as they spun, and mechanical claws reached from the sides, ready to seize targets.

Ethan had already slipped back into black particle form.

After Morvane’s example, he wasn’t about to casually feed an enemy with energy again.

So if that was the game—

He’d end it with his fists.

Black particles threaded through the gaps between the tentacles and appeared behind the little dinosaur.

The particles began to gather, condensing into a body.
