Naruto: Copy System

Chapter 953: [953] : Checking In

Shin still cared about Lucy, mostly because he knew something important.

If he wanted to navigate this empire smoothly, he'd have to rely on her.

But for Lucy to ask him to save her butler like this... it made sense.

After all, she'd promised him money. Plus, he was aiming to become the strongest person in this world.

Normally, he wouldn't need to do something like this. But honestly, he couldn't think of anything else that would keep him interested right now.

He was a hot-blooded guy; the idea of becoming the world's strongest definitely appealed to him. However, the power system in this world was overly complex, making it a bit hard to grasp initially, though it wasn't a major issue.

His plan was to study this world thoroughly and try to avoid unnecessary conflicts. If he started a fight, who knew if it would attract someone truly powerful?

Although he knew this empire was weak, his innate caution kept him from fully letting his guard down.

He turned to Lucy and said slowly, "Since you're asking, I'll do it. But there are some things I'd rather not have other people see."

"Resurrection magic takes time to cast, so we should leave this place before figuring out our next move."

"Are you familiar with this town?"

Lucy shook her head briskly and said, "How could I be? I just ran here. I never expected them to chase me all the way here."

"But since you're asking, I can tell you a bit about this country."

"If you really are from another country, how could you not know anything about this one?"

"Did you fall from the sky?"

Shin frowned. 'Did this little girl notice something?'

He quickly asked, feigning nervousness, "What are you talking about? I don't know what you mean."

"Don't try to fool me. I saw it all. You just appeared here suddenly. Even if you didn't fly, you must have used some large-scale teleportation magic, right?"

Hearing this, Shin breathed a sigh of relief and slowly said, "Well, if that's the case, our problem is solved."

"Just keep telling me about this empire."

Lucy looked at Shin and said, "That's a long story. Besides, are we just going to stand here forever?"

She slowly crouched down next to the dead butler and fumbled around before pulling out a bag of gold coins.

She handed them to Shin. Shin had no idea what this little girl was trying to do.

He frowned and said, "What are you doing? Giving me money now? Do you trust me that much?"

"You're so dense. We'll definitely need this money. We have to find an inn, sit down, and talk properly. Plus, we need to eat."

"All of that costs money. Were you planning on just standing here?"

"But..."

Lucy stood up, tugged at her sleeves, and slowly said, "Can you really resurrect the butler?"

"Normal people wouldn't be able to do something like this, right?"

She then hung her head, lost in thought.

Shin chuckled and looked at Lucy. "You're really cute, you know? I already said I'd definitely help you resurrect your butler."

"I'll be honest with you. You know about that legendary Black Mage, Zeref, right?"

At this, Lucy's disappointment instantly turned into panic. She looked at Shin and said, "You aren't really one of those demons from Zeref's book, the Tartaros ones, are you?"

"But no matter how I look at you, you don't seem like a demon."

Shin almost laughed out loud. What was she even talking about? It seemed that with this girl around, his days wouldn't be boring.

"It makes sense for you to think that. But what if I told you I'm stronger than Zeref? Would you believe me?"

Lucy paused, seemingly pondering something, before saying, "I believe you. Even though Zeref is already one of the strongest people in the world... meeting you today..."

"I feel like you must be stronger than him. At the very least, I've never heard of Zeref having magic that can bring the dead back to life."

Shin didn't know why, but the more he looked at Lucy, the more he liked her. How had he not noticed before that he had gained such a cute little fangirl?

It actually felt pretty good.

"Alright, enough about that. Let's find a place to stay first."

"I haven't figured out the rest yet."

Lucy nodded obediently and said, "Okay, super-strong Big Brother."

Shin didn't know what was coming over him. Every time Lucy said something, he felt like he was floating. He hadn't realized this little girl loved sweet-talking so much.

And Lucy seemed to have figured out that the boy in front of her loved being praised. She added, "I know Big Brother is the strongest. So, you'll help me all the way, right?"

"Look how pitiful the butler is. You carry him, okay? And then, later, you have to cast the strongest magic in the world."

"I'm really looking forward to it."

"No problem at all."

And so, Shin carried the butler on his back, chatting with Lucy as they walked until they reached an inn that looked decent enough.

Lucy, seemingly very outgoing, had already gone ahead and called for the innkeeper.

The innkeeper was a beautiful blonde woman. At this moment, she was eyeing Shin with a peculiar look.

Then she looked at the person on Shin's back and slowly asked, "Are you folks looking for rooms or food?"

"Both."

"Alright. How many rooms do you need?"

Shin was going to ask for one, but remembering that Lucy was a girl, he said, "Two rooms."

But Lucy interrupted him, "Big Brother, why are you doing that? We're practically dirt poor right now. Why ask for so many rooms when we barely have any money?"

Shin thought staying at an inn must be very expensive.
