Naruto: Starting With Creating A Genius Persona
Chapter 481: Finding Experimental SubjectsFirst Bronze Head and Iron Arms, then the Body beyond the Body.
The thought amused Shinichi, prompting him to ponder inwardly.
Could it be that fusing with the bloodline genes of these native creatures naturally tended to awaken some kind of innate divine ability?
Furthermore, unlike Genjo, whose strength had not undergone any obvious increase after fusing with Madara Uchiha’s bloodline genes, Isshin had indeed grown somewhat stronger after fusing with the Damp Slug Sage’s bloodline genes.
The increase in vitality was secondary; the truly important gain was his aptitude for Sage Jutsu.
Because he could not equip talent related to the monk occupation, Isshin had previously lacked the qualifications to practice Sage Jutsu. After this fusion, however, he had finally become capable of embarking upon the path of Sage Jutsu training.
Of course, given Isshin’s combat style, Sage Jutsu might not necessarily surpass Lightning Style Armour in raw power. However, the benefits of Sage Jutsu extended far beyond sheer destructive force.
Its comprehensive enhancement of sensory abilities, its utilization of Nature Energy, and its entirely different energy circulation system from ordinary chakra all possessed values that Lightning Style Armour simply could not replace.
Shinichi had never been someone who pursued maximum destructive power alone. His philosophy had always been to learn from every strength, compensate for every weakness, use these different systems as foundations, draw nourishment from them, digest and absorb them, and ultimately develop something truly suited to himself before completely integrating it into his own combat system.
Following that line of thought, it might not be impossible in the future to integrate Sage Jutsu into the various chakra nature modes, creating an entire Sage Jutsu version of the Nintaijutsu system.
At that point, flames, lightning, or even storms powered by Senjutsu chakra would undoubtedly reach an entirely new level, both in raw destructive power and in versatility.
Speaking of a Sage Jutsu version of Nintaijutsu techniques, Shinichi had conceived that idea when he first began learning Sage Jutsu. However, only after he had successfully completed the initial stages of training and entered Sage Mode did he realize that the reality was far more complicated than he had originally imagined.
The core of Sage Jutsu lay in the delicate balance between three energies, Physical Energy, Spiritual Energy, and Nature Energy, which had to be maintained at an extraordinarily precise ratio. Even the slightest imbalance would, at best, force him out of Sage Mode, and at worst cause a backlash from Nature Energy.
Meanwhile, the essence of his Nintaijutsu techniques was the explosive internal circulation of chakra with a specific nature attribute throughout his body. Running both systems simultaneously caused the complexity of the energy flow inside his body to increase almost geometrically.
This was especially true for Lightning and Fire nature, both of which were inherently violent, unstable, and notoriously difficult to control. When these already ferocious forces met the absolute precision demanded by Sage Jutsu’s energy balance, the three systems interfered with and constrained one another. The difficulty of controlling them was not merely additive; it multiplied many times over.
Even for someone with control as exceptional as Shinichi’s, after only a few preliminary attempts, he clearly realized that this was not a path that could be completed within a short period of time.
...
While Isshin was testing the physical changes and new abilities brought about by the fusion with the Damp Slug Sage’s bloodline genes, Shinichi himself, back in Konoha, headed straight into his laboratory after completing another day’s Sage Jutsu training.
Inside the laboratory, Shinichi and several Shadow Clones moved busily about, each occupied with their own tasks. Every so often, he would pick up a small crimson test tube, drip a single drop of extracted first Hokage cell solution into it, and silently observe the reaction.
He was researching the first Hokage’s cells.
Counting from the time he had restarted the first Hokage cell experiments under the third Hokage’s orders, more than half a month had already passed.
Yet apart from the one occasion when he used them to create Genjo, his research had made no progress whatsoever.
This could not help but make Shinichi sigh in admiration. They truly were the First Hokage’s cells.
Even someone as capable as Orochimaru had spent decades researching them without producing any truly meaningful results. In the original timeline, the best he had managed was stumbling upon Yamato almost by sheer luck.
As such, Shinichi did not feel discouraged in the slightest.
Although his research had not been underway for very long, given his level of medical expertise, he had already reached one conclusion.
If he simply continued researching using his current methods, the outcome would remain exactly the same.
Even with Genjo assisting him, that would still be the case.
Although Genjo’s body had been created using the first Hokage’s cells as its core, it had been accomplished through the system’s talent fusion mechanism, making it more akin to an insertion at the level of fundamental rules.
No matter who examined him, it would be absolutely impossible to find any trace of the First Hokage’s cells within his body.
Of course, Genjo himself possessed Wood Style, making him extremely helpful as a reference during the research process, but that alone was still insufficient.
Therefore, experimental subjects had to be found.
Only through genuine live human experimentation, observing the complete process by which the first Hokage’s cells fused with a living human body, could he gradually verify and eliminate the various interfering factors, determine the conditions and limits of cellular fusion, and ultimately find a viable path forward.
Thus, after reporting the matter to the third Hokage and obtaining his approval, Shinichi had issued an order within the society two days earlier, announcing that it was recruiting volunteers for a top-secret experiment.
The specific details of the experiment were strictly classified. Only members selected as experimental subjects would learn the true nature of the experiment before the official testing phase began.
Even after learning the truth, they would still be free to decide whether to continue participating, and everything would be entirely voluntary, with absolutely no coercion.
Before selecting the experimental subjects, however, everyone would first undergo a comprehensive physical examination, with special emphasis placed on collecting blood samples.
Participation in the screening was likewise entirely voluntary. Ninjas from any clan were not required to register, and if any members from any clan insisted on participating, they first had to discuss the matter with their clan and obtain its approval.
Indeed, Shinichi never handled things as carelessly as Orochimaru. At least when human lives and his own reputation were involved, he was always thorough and cautious, never leaving himself open to criticism.
Not only had he informed everyone in advance, but he had also refrained from immediately turning society members into experimental subjects.
Instead, he first screened them under the guise of medical examinations, evaluating various physiological indicators while giving priority to testing how their blood initially reacted to the First Hokage’s cells.
Only after compiling all the data and identifying suitable candidates would he privately reveal part of the truth to them, obtain their fully informed consent, and then, after putting comprehensive safety measures and emergency contingency plans in place, proceed with the final injection and fusion experiment.
As expected, every person who registered turned out to be a civilian-born member.
At least, officially, they were all still civilian-born members. The rows upon rows of crimson test tubes neatly arranged across the laboratory bench all contained blood samples from this group of members.
