Chapter 104: Chapter 103: You’re in Trouble
"A mother’s love is more powerful than fear."
— J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

As for Sasuke...
Well, Sasuke didn’t make a sound at first. His pride was doing everything it could to hold the line. His face stayed stiff, eyes forward, shoulders straight, like nothing was happening.
But pride only stretches so far.
And every mother in the world seems to possess an ancient, terrifying talent for finding the exact weakness in their child’s defenses.
Mikoto was no different.
She twisted his ear just a little more.
Sasuke held out for another second.
Then two.
"...Mother."
The word came out strained.
Another twist.
Sasuke winced.
"...I’ll come earlier next time."
Mikoto released him with a satisfied nod.
While Shisui rubbed his ear with a grin and then he looked at Otis.
Without a word, they tapped fists, and Shisui sat down beside Otis with a sigh.
"I really did have too much work," he muttered to Otis.
Otis glanced sideways. "You could have left a shadow clone."
Shisui smirked. "Next time I’m gonna use them".
Meanwhile, Sasuke pretended nothing had happened at all, though the slight redness at the tip of his ear betrayed him.
Sayuri, of course, noticed immediately.
She leaned back in her chair, her eyes glinting.
"You were training?" she said.
Otis looked at Sayuri’s expression and immediately felt a little sympathy for Sasuke.
You are cooked, buddy
Sasuke glared at her.
"...I forgot to check the time."
Sayuri didn’t even look up from the dishes.
"Oh, were you?" she said casually. "How surprising."
Then she looked at Sasuke, her expression was openly condescending.
Sasuke’s jaw tightened at that look.
"I train every day."
"Yes," Sayuri replied sweetly. "Ever since someone lost to me."
Hinata nearly choked on air.
Otis suddenly looked very interested. All of his attention was now on this juicy sibling story.
Sasuke shot his sister a sharp glare. "That was one spar."
"Three," Sayuri corrected immediately.
"But who’s counting? I’m not, of course," she added, while still raising three fingers.
Every muscle in Sasuke’s face tightened as his anger rose.
She always did this to me every time she got the chance.
Sayuri smiled sweetly as she looked at him

"It was one spar," Sasuke muttered, his voice lower now.
"Yeah. One spar where you got a taste of dirt in front of Nii-san. He even praised me for it," Sayuri added calmly.
"Ah, I forgot. I even saw you crying," Sayuri said.
"I did not!" Sasuke snapped, raising his voice.
"Well... maybe it was raining. If you say so."
Sasuke’s hands clenched.
It wasn’t just teasing.
Sayuri had awakened her Sharingan recently. He hadn’t. So he had lost badly to her in front of Itachi, of all people. And he couldn’t forget that spar until he defeated her.
Sayuri leaned back slightly.
"Ah don’t worry," she added. "You’ll awaken your Sharingan eventually."
A beat.
"Probably."
Her tone sounded deliberately uncertain.
Mikoto’s eyes snapped toward her.
"Sayuri!"
"Mom, I’m just encouraging him. I’m a wonderful sister, after all. Someone has to look out for him in the future."
Sasuke’s face turned so red that Otis thought he might awaken his Sharingan right there.
Mikoto pointed toward the sink.
"Sasuke. Wash your hands and sit down."
Then she walked toward the kitchen to get fresh plates.
Shisui looked at the remaining food on the table. "Did you leave anything for us?"
Otis looked at the nearly empty bowls.
"...Early birds eat first."
Across the table, Sasuke sat stiffly, avoiding Sayuri’s eyes.
Hinata, gentle as ever, spoke softly.
"Your training... I am sure you will get the result."
Sasuke nodded once. " I will awaken it"
Sayuri snorted softly. "Sure sure you will."
Otis watched the exchange with interest.
Sayuri had no idea about the ridiculous cheat codes Sasuke possessed
Mikoto returned with fresh plates and placed them firmly in front of Shisui and Sasuke.
"Eat while it’s warm," she said.
Shisui bowed his head slightly.
"Thank you."
As they began eating...
Sayuri kicked Sasuke under the table.
He kicked back.
Mikoto placed a hand on her forehead as she watched the two of them.
Otis, meanwhile, was smiling at the entire exchange. It looked like he was enjoying every second of it.
Then Mikoto glanced at Otis.
"And you. Stay after dinner."
Otis smile fell
"...Am I in trouble?"
Shisui leaned closer to his ear.
"You’re finished, my friend," he whispered.
Otis looked at him
"But... I haven’t even done anything wrong."
Sayuri’s lips curled upward.
"Ohhhoho iiiiiiiii think you arrrrrrrrre in trrrrrroubbble."
☠ ━━━━━━━ ☠
The dishes had barely been cleared when Mikoto placed a hand on Otis’s shoulder.
"Follow me," she said.
She walked toward the back door without waiting.
Otis sighed and followed.
The ’backyard’ of the Uchiha house was... not exactly a backyard.
Calling it that felt insulting
The entire area was a compact training ground. Wooden posts split by years of kunai practice, targets embedded into trees, weapon racks along the wall, and several sections of earth that had clearly been dug up and rebuilt many times.
Whoever trained here did so seriously, Otis thought as he looked around.
Behind them, Sayuri, Sasuke, Hinata, and Shisui gathered near the sliding doorway that opened into the yard.
They all knew that tone Mikoto had used.
Sayuri crossed her arms. "Oh this will be good."
Shisui leaned against the frame with a grin that suggested he already knew how this was going to go.
Hinata sat beside Sayuri, hands folded in her lap, curious but slightly worried.
Sasuke’s eyes sharpened.
Mikoto stepped into the center of the yard and turned around.
Otis stopped a few meters away.
For a moment she simply looked at him.
"You see, Otis," she began, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear, "I haven’t forgotten your... recklessness."
Otis said nothing.
"Kibana village," she continued. "When I first heard about what happened there."
Her tone remained perfectly pleasant.
"And now," she added, "you go and kill a Daimyō."
The words hung in the air like a blade.
"Without informing anyone in advance. Not the Hokage. Not your allies. Not even a little warning," she finished.
Otis scratched the back of his neck.
"I had a plan."
She tilted her head slightly.
"If you had a plan to begin with, it would have been nice to hear it."
