The corridor was a gauntlet of death with Harker’s turrets embedded on both sides of the narrow hall. Their barrels locked and synchronized, with Harker’s Inhuman capabilities observing Seeker’s every twitch. Located on another building, Lowengren’s Exoskeleton that was being controlled took aim with his sniper optics tracing ahead of Seeker. But his bullets were special. Bullets began to rain, each one humming with strange heat, tearing the air itself as they passed.
Seeker cursed as he stepped forward and began to harness more strength in his steps.
The shooters—Lowengren and Harker—were Inhumans. Their minds processed time in centiseconds, their fingers moved in imperceptible flickers, and their aim was absolute. They didn’t miss. They couldn’t. Their bullets weren’t just metal—they were lies and trust made manifest, twisted into projectiles that could shatter even virtual invincibility.
Seeker dove forward. Not in desperation—but with calculation. The Passover would begin.
He had only ever used it in critical flashes, milliseconds from impact. But now, with the entire hallway hunting him, he had to expose it. He could not afford to use it in half a centisecond. The bullets were arranged in such an order that it was practically impossible to evade it only at one point. And with his powers severely weakened in Marrho’s world, Seeker had to use it longer!
"There it is!" Harker watched in admiration.
Space bent. Time twisted.
His figure didn’t blur—it fractured. Seeker’s body elongated, compressed, and became a vertical filament of pulsing, distorted mass. Like a shadow caught in glass, he thinned into a paradox—his very existence reshaped by dimensions that shouldn’t exist in that world.
"That’s the Passover...
"His distorting his body to fit the space! Evading is adjusting your body to avoid what you need to avoid, but he is taking it to another level! Keep shooting!" Harker called out.
Turrets fired. Snipers released precision death. Bullets raced with predatory hunger.
Yet none touched Seeker who flickered into a strange form again.
He slipped through the gaps between gaps, not dodging the bullets but becoming un-hittable by nature. He wasn’t there in the way a body should be. The heat-seeking, impact-triggered rounds screamed past him, unable to register his warped existence as real.
Seeker reappeared and flickered again, long enough for Lowengren and Harker to catch the shape of him in that fractured form.
"We’re winning! He’s forced to keep that form!" Lowengren laughed as he fired again.
"The Passover... isn’t movement. It’s the redefinition of his form! He passes over through"
Seeker collapsed the form and rolled sideways, slipping between beams of death. Bullets struck behind him, turning metal panels into molten slag. He was forced to resume a normal shape—his energy waning. The next salvo came faster, smarter. Harker’s rounds carried the pull of trust—forcing Seeker to feel compelled, almost spiritually drawn, to step into their path. Lowengren’s bullets hissed with deceptive trajectories, lying about their origin until the very last moment. The hallway was a labyrinth of misinformation and betrayal.
Seeker’s thoughts fired faster than thought itself. Ignore what I feel. Ignore what I see. Trust only the impossible.
He triggered another burst of the Passover, mid-stride—this time not just through space, but through intent. He rewrote his presence again, zig-zagging not by footwork, but by bending what it meant to "be" in that world.
"You’re dead!" Harker shouted.
Seeker believed and trusted Harker. He was right.
Seeker considered all the possible Paths that his allies had and what he needed to develop to surpass this.
There were blessings in his weakness. While he was the Truth, he could only harness the power that he acquired and desired to pursue since the beginning.
But certain Paths and Skills never really connected with him and somehow, Seeker never really needed to develop it.
Now, with Inhumans aiming bullets at him, Seeker had the chance to either force himself to remember and convert a Path he had known to this world or use his state of zero to awaken others.
There was one Path that he saw was most useful and practical.
In the virtual reality world of Marrho, complicated powers such as Richie’s Sound, Meng’s Desolation, and Lioncourt’s Realm would be difficult.
But there was one that seemed practical in concept. And so, Seeker chose to tread upon the untrodden path.
The bullet’s closed in and Seeker’s Golden Arm distorted. It grew thin and became nearly two-dimensional.
Harker and Lowengren saw the strange hand.
The Passover turned his arm into a sword almost instantly.
But what was strange was that the Passover also warped the air around his arm.
Within the battle, Seeker was bombarded with many lies from Lowengren. And one that Seeker uncovered was the lie that he could not escape on the battlefield.
That there were only two ways out, and both were to pass through the turrets.
And it was partially correct. The floor and the hall that they were in utilized a specialized metal. None of Seeker’s current armaments can destroy it easily, especially since he had no time to do so as his efforts would be focused solely on evasion.
But now...
SLASH!
The sword cut through the walls and with the wind, Seeker managed to create a weaker version of Omricon’s Sword!
With a gap formed through the cut, Seeker slipped through the gap in the wall.
"Crap." Harker sighed.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
The turrets could not keep up with Seeker’s speed.
With more room to move, and no sight of Seeker, the turret and Lowengren could not keep up as they knew Seeker could now slip through walls with a sword like Omricon.
The turrets were all destroyed and a bullet shot through and destroyed the sniper turret that was positioned far away.
DING!
The elevator arrived just in time as the girls left the elevator room.
Seeker’s appearance was pale as he was drained of energy.
"We have to move now!" Seeker urged as he ordered the group towards the gunfire that they could hear in the distance.
The girls saw the turrets that were cut down and recognized them.
"Aren’t these...!"
"The weapons of a Presider!"
"Hurry!" Seeker urged.
"I need you girls to shoot and fight! Don’t you have a drug that removes fear? Aren’t you trained in some combat? Use that! I don’t have enough energy to fight everyone and will need you to take up arms! Can you do that!?"
"...Yes!" The girls all answered as they allowed a drug to be injected through their armbands.
"Behind us!" Soldiers could be heard on the front.
"Shoot them as I distract them!" Seeker ordered.
But as they moved, Seeker could not help but curse at the mental strain and pressure that he faced.
Lowengren and Harker’s actions meant that they would be trying to kill him and his allies!
"Would they appear? Would they be among the soldiers?" Seeker could not help but think.
