Nightmare Apostle

Chapter 2133 - 1174: Torturous Killing

"Hey! Hey!"

It was unclear how much time had passed before someone was softly calling out, accompanied by a gentle push.

The next second, Guo Tiejun woke up with a start. On his left sat Feng Xiaoyan, looking at him with a nervous expression, while he was still sitting in his chair, unmovable.

"Why did you fall asleep?" Feng Xiaoyan frowned, her caring tone mixed with resentment, a denunciation of his irresponsibility.

At that moment, the movie was nearing its end, the male and female leads on the screen gathered with their friends from the village, singing and dancing, the scene filled with the unique simplicity of an old film.

Guo Tiejun dared not answer immediately, worried that the Feng Xiaoyan in front of him was a fake.

He quickly glanced around and stood up, once again looking through his legs at the audience area, only sitting back down dejectedly after confirming everything had returned to normal.

Guo Tiejun frowned deeply; he simply couldn’t explain what had just happened—it all felt like a dream.

At this point, Feng Xiaoyan also sensed something was wrong and asked in a low voice, "Are you okay?"

Guo Tiejun shook his head with difficulty. It took him a full minute to sort out his thoughts, and he then told Feng Xiaoyan everything he had just experienced.

Upon hearing Guo Tiejun’s ordeal, the already timid Feng Xiaoyan turned pale, requiring Guo Tiejun to calm her, telling her not to worry, that it was all over.

"Maybe I was just too tense," Guo Tiejun said self-deprecatingly, "It was just a dream, don’t feel pressured."

Despite his words, the bitterness on Guo Tiejun’s face was evident; after all, he was the one involved, and if something really happened, he would be the one bearing the consequences.

In the last ten minutes of the film, neither of them could focus, and only after the movie ended, when the hall lights came on, did they leave with the crowd.

It was already late at night; most of the employees scattered around the Cultural Palace had left, making those watching the movie in the main hall one of the later groups to leave.

According to the plan, everyone was supposed to meet at the storage room after activities ended.

By the time Guo Tiejun and Feng Xiaoyan arrived, almost everyone else was already there.

Only Liu Hongwei was missing, as she had been taken away by the factory’s security department.

Everyone began to share what they saw and heard that night, and among the eight people, only Guo Tiejun had encountered something strange.

After hearing about Guo Tiejun’s experience, everyone at the scene showed different expressions, even Yang Xiao and Ye Zheng wore serious faces.

Guo Tiejun could clearly feel himself being excluded; many people looked at him with a sense of rejection and unmistakable distance.

Yang Xiao also sensed this subtle tension brewing and stepped up to defend Guo Tiejun, hoping to maintain the hard-won harmonious atmosphere.

"Encountering something strange doesn’t mean trouble will follow. Chen Qiaoyun and I also experienced something weird last night, and we’re still fine, aren’t we?"

"And Wang Yong had a perfectly normal night at the Cultural Palace, yet look what happened to him?" Yang Xiao was used to speaking with facts.

"The situation is unclear now, let’s not stress out our teammates and increase confrontational feelings unnecessarily. We are a team," Yang Xiao continued.

"Maybe it was just a dream, nothing unusual about dreaming during the day and night," Ye Zheng said.

Ye Zheng’s tone was deliberately light, his expression normal, but such talk was only good for fooling ignorant newcomers—let alone Yang Xiao, even she didn’t believe it.

Based on the clues they currently had, Ye Zheng believed there was at least a fifty percent chance Guo Tiejun had been targeted by a ghost that night.

But the pressing question now was to figure out why, so she asked Guo Tiejun and Feng Xiaoyan to recount the night’s events in detail and without omission.

After listening to their account, neither Yang Xiao nor Ye Zheng found anything extraordinary, coming up almost empty-handed.

"Feng Xiaoyan, Chen Qiaoyun, you two come with me, the rest stay here. We’ll go back to the cinema to check," Yang Xiao said before leaving.

It was obvious Feng Xiaoyan was a bit afraid, but Yang Xiao’s words were an order no one dared to disobey now.

Feng Xiaoyan gave Guo Tiejun one last look before obediently following Yang Xiao out, with Ye Zheng being the last to leave.

But after exiting the storage room, Yang Xiao turned into a corner of a nearby corridor.

This area was quite secluded, and at this hour, there were almost no people around.

Seeing this, Feng Xiaoyan’s eyes widened, and she couldn’t help but ask, "Captain Ma, aren’t we going to the cinema?"

"Let me ask you, is everything you said earlier true?" Yang Xiao asked directly.

"Of... of course," Feng Xiaoyan nodded repeatedly, not daring to deceive Yang Xiao.

"Did you and Guo Tiejun ever separate tonight?" Yang Xiao continued, his expression and tone rare in their severity.

"No."

"Think before you answer, this could very well be about saving your life!" Ye Zheng was dissatisfied with Feng Xiaoyan’s perfunctory attitude, as she had answered almost without thinking.

Frightened by Ye Zheng’s gaze, Feng Xiaoyan realized the seriousness of the matter, so she carefully recalled for a full minute before nodding again, giving the same answer.

"No, we were together the entire time; we didn’t even go to the bathroom," Feng Xiaoyan said earnestly.

"Before you noticed Guo Tiejun was asleep, did you notice anything unusual around you?" Yang Xiao continued to ask.
