The sound of a drum echoed throughout heaven and earth. Everyone turned their gaze to see Miao Yin standing atop a large war drum. Her feet were only lightly tapping it; yet, despite her movements being light, the sound of the drum boomed like heavenly thunder. Mighty soundwaves spread all the way across the battlefield, shattering the bloodthirsty domain enveloping it.
Ironmace, Iceflame, and the others were instantly freed from its pressure. Their entire formation became agile once more.
“Damn music cultivator! She broke our devil blood domain!” The outsider devils in the distance were outraged.
The devil blood domain was a unique skill possessed by the outsider devils. Once they went berserk, their power began to resonate and form a domain. This kind of domain had actually been a massive problem for the nine heavens back then. Even when the outsider devils were killed, they left behind enough power to maintain the devil blood domain for a while.
As the number of fighters increased, the power of this domain increased. It was said that the strongest devil blood domain back in the primal chaos era had caused the deaths of several Heavenly Sovereigns.
At the same time, however, it was a double-edged sword. It would certainly restrain the enemy, but it also hurt the users themselves. Once the power of the devil blood domain reached a certain level, the outsider devils inside of it would completely lose their minds and start killing each other; in fact, if the domain became powerful enough, they would even start killing themselves with suicidal attacks.
Unless the plan was to drag down their enemies with them, the outsider devils had to keep the devil blood domain under a set limit. Thus, only a tenth of them were being allowed to fight now. This way, even if they did go out of control, the others would be able to suppress the devil blood domain and prevent the whole army from wiping itself out.
This devil blood domain had been a plague to the world of the nine heavens. But today, it was countered just like that. And thanks to the curses they were hearing from the outsider devil side, the disciples from the nine heavens were learning new things about it.
“That doesn’t sound right. I thought that the devil blood domain manifested as a kind of black mist? Wasn’t it a merger of devil souls and devil blood?”
Amongst these spectators, there were quite a few who had read the ancient records containing mentions of the devil blood domain. It was said that when it was activated, black mist shrouded the heavens; ghost-like entities appeared, and their sharp wails would affect people’s minds. But they didn’t see any such manifestation this time.
“Yeah, that would be the devil blood domain from the primal chaos era. Our ancestors suffered against it, so they came up with countermeasures. In the end, they were unable to break it entirely, but they did manage to find some techniques that were effective against it. At the very least, they were able to retreat once a devil blood domain formed. I suppose the outsider devils also figured that out and modified it in turn. This devil blood domain has clearly been changed so that it can be set up without anyone noticing it on the battlefield. By the time you notice it, the domain has already been formed.
“It’s a good thing that Fairy Miao Yin is a music cultivator, and her heart contains the righteous qi of heaven and earth. She was able to drive away this evil with that grand sound. But such a thing must come at a huge price for her. I don’t know how long she can last. After all, she is using her own individual power to counter the power of billions of devils!”
The old man who stepped forward to explain was impressed by Miao Yin, but also worried for her.
For him, being able to witness the rise of unmatched heavenly geniuses in the human race like Long Chen, Zi Yan, and Miao Yin was a great honor. These youngsters actually dared to fight the outsider devils! They weren’t like certain other people who could fight among themselves but cowered when it came to standing against their real enemies.
Old fellows like him had lived for countless years, and they had seen more than their fair share of the dark side of the human race. They had long since grown numb to the ways of this world. It was Long Chen’s appearance that made them see hope once more. Long Chen was always breaking the unwritten and unspoken rules of the world. He kept his spine straight and he dared to face his enemies head-on.
He was like a lantern illuminating this world of darkness. Although this lantern still looked a bit weak right now, as if the darkness might consume it at any moment, its unyielding flame was igniting the hot blood within countless people. Even an old man like him, who had almost turned into an actual fossil, felt revitalized at this sight.
Miao Yin danced atop the battle drum. Her dancing was neither too fast nor too slow, but perfectly timed and perfectly consistent. It unleashed soundwave after soundwave that scoured the battlefield, but these waves only worked for her hundred thousand elites. Their power did not extend beyond that.
Long Chen nodded slightly when he saw this. Even during battle, Miao Yin was able to keep her cool and make good judgments.
These sound waves were not directly resisting or blocking the domain. Rather, they were dampening and purifying it partially. If she had to purify the whole thing, then she wouldn’t be able to last long, but since she was only influencing the area around her troops, the efficiency was greatly increased.
Although Long Chen was not a master of the Music Dao, he could also tell that the sound waves were constantly changing. Obviously, this was Miao Yin’s first time encountering the devil blood domain. She was trying different frequencies and so on in search of the devil blood domain’s weak points. This smaller formation was even more agile, and it was like an arrow piercing through the outsider devils. Wherever they went, the outsider devils collapsed.
They were like a small boat navigating a vast sea of devils, yet this small boat seemed to be made of fine steel and cut through the waves without being shaken even an inch off course. They were completely unstoppable, and all that was left in their wake was a trail of blood and shattered weapons.
Ironmace’s ferocity was put on full display. Her chain-wrapped fists seemed to come to life. No matter who or what she was facing, she blew them apart with one punch. There was no one capable of standing up to her strength. Her power was provoking the experts amongst the outsider devils, and they fearlessly charged towards her, only to die beneath her fists.
This was the strength of Miao Yin’s number-one warrior. The power of her body was absolutely terrifying; in fact, Long Chen felt that Ironmace’s physique was probably the strongest of all people he knew, apart from himself and Wilde. She was definitely capable of comparing to Gu Yang, and perhaps might even be a bit stronger. After all, Gu Yang also had his own weapon, while Ironmace’s weapons were her fists. She definitely spent more time and effort on improving her body.
BOOM!
Just as Miao Yin’s army was blasting through the outsider devils, they suddenly opened up a path, letting an enormous entity charge through their ranks.
It was a monstrous two-headed ape, bigger than any mountain. It had been lying in wait, and suddenly made a move once they got closer. A spiked club smashed down towards them.
“That thing has touched the threshold of the Heavenly Sovereign realm!”
Startled cries rang out. This outsider devil really was sinister. It had hidden its cultivation base and body, disguising itself as just another one of the Sovereign Lord disciples.
By the time people reacted, its massive club was already slamming down, bringing with it suffocating Grand Dao power.
Just as everyone was horrified, Miao Yin’s voice rang out calmly.
“Ironmace, show them your true power!”
