Chapter 319

However, such maps were not common items, and the pricing started at 10,000 credits, which was quite insane for just a map.

But on the other hand, it did make sense. Knowledge was not free, and such maps were not something common demon folk would require either.

Apart from that, the demon lands were filled with deadly dangers. A single mishap could threaten one’s life, and these maps were essentially meant to significantly reduce those risks.

So, the high prices were justified.

With the remaining balance—which was not exactly low—he also bought a basic introduction guide to arrays and formations.

He knew he needed that in order to better understand the mirror and the secrets behind it.

The credits plummeted in the account, leaving the balance almost negligible.

However, he was not worried at all.

With the stuff he had taken with him, it was only a matter of time before he started filling it up again.

’Now I need to sell this without being caught.’ Oliver pondered for a few minutes before standing up.

He had a rough plan in his mind as to how to earn some Lento.

He glanced at Agnes, who was still in a deep meditative state, and did not disturb her. He left the room quietly, heading towards the market.

"Damn it!"

The household head was on his way back. He searched all the vicinities but found no trace of the culprit nor his son.

It was bizarre. He simply could not understand how there was nothing left to follow.

It was as if he had vanished out of existence, which was definitely not the case.

So the question remained—where had they gone?

Unwilling, he could only return back to his mansion and plan accordingly.

And on his way back, he felt that all these incidents were very weird, and he could not help but feel uneasy.

Ever since the situation with the lord some time ago, everything had been going downhill for some apparent reason.

He could not help but instinctively feel that this matter of his son’s disappearance was related to that incident too.

And if his guess was right, then it was terrifying.

What exactly was it that they were dealing with? The fear of the unknown was slowly seeping into him.

He made a note to later inform the lord of this and ask for some help.

If this matter was really related to that same source of trouble, then he might be able to ask for help from the diviner that the lord had planned to invite.

As he neared the mansion, his expression suddenly became a little unnatural.

"What...?" He looked blankly ahead before his face contorted into a shade of deep fury.

He roared at the top of his lungs, "BASTARD! WHO ARE YOU!?"

He vanished from his spot and appeared directly inside his room.

His expression could not be any worse at this point.

The room that once was filled with relics and luxury was now empty and cold, devoid of even a single article.

But that was not the source of his pain.

He looked in front of him, at the spot where there used to be a mirror.

Something he cherished more than anything in this world.

But now, it was gone.

"T-The Glasseed... how, it’s gone..." His voice trembled violently, and his hands shook.

He could not believe his own eyes.

The pain he was feeling was far greater than anything else—even worse than his missing son.

After all, this was related to his own future, his own life, his own advancement to the next level.

His hope was... gone?

The pain and anger were too much. He smashed the floor beneath him, his dark espera overflowing.

He looked behind him. The slave human woman was no longer there either. He could not sense the other slaves as well. His mansion was desolate.

He felt as if he had lost everything.

His eyes were bloodshot, his mind reduced to a single, all-consuming imperative: KILL.

His entire being was consumed by rage.

He no longer felt pain. He heard no words. He remembered nothing except flashes: a child’s laugh, a glowing mirror, blood on white stone. These fragments ignited fresh waves of fury, but they didn’t restore him.

They only fed the fire.

He could no longer speak. His voice, when he did vocalize, came out as a guttural roar that echoed with the cracking of bones and distant screams.

In fact, what he was currently experiencing was backlash. Just like humans, demons also faced several difficulties while practicing with dark espera.

Dark espera was inherently a violent energy in essence. It was malicious and represented the negative aspect of the world in a raw form.

If it went out of control, or the practitioner was not able to manage it properly—letting it consume them—it was disastrous to life.

Demons were primarily different from humans too. Letting dark espera take over not only amplified their violent tendencies but also allowed them to unite with their true savage forms.

Once it began, there was no stopping it. It was considered a final destination of sorts for demons in their journey. There was no coming back.

And more importantly, any scope of further advancement in their level was finished after this transformation, meaning they were forever crippled if they managed to survive—which was just as difficult.

His true form was revealed as his body enlarged monstrously, destroying the ceiling of the mansion. His horns grew in length, and his expression became more and more demonic.

He became a giant demon controlled by rage. A giant as tall as a building with grotesque face and body, his body was now the color of ash gray and his hair were gone, instead his head was filled with giant veins. He truly resembled a demon at this moment.

This would not have happened if he had kept himself in control, but he had always been a hot-tempered demon from the beginning, which made it even easier for him to fall into his end transformation.

The giant leaped and rushed madly towards the direction of the city.
