Chapter 907: Chapter 907: Absolute Dominance, Double Kill
RUMBLE—!
In an instant, the terrifying sonic boom enveloped Haunger. The ground beneath him shattered into powder, and surrounding buildings collapsed. It was a devastating blow; Haunger was blasted backward as if hit by a physical shockwave, the very top layer of the earth being stripped away along with him.
The intense air pressure cleared everything in front of Aeridar, carving out a wasteland a hundred meters long and dozens of meters wide in a heartbeat.
As the thick, yellow dust swirled, Haunger lay amidst the ruins, bleeding from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. His clothes were reduced to rags, and half his body was buried under piles of masonry. Only the faint, ragged sound of his breathing proved he was still clinging to life.
Whir—!
Suddenly, the air whistled as a shadow loomed over Aeridar. He looked up to see a boulder the size of a house hurtling toward his head.
With a calm expression, he raised his hand and made a flicking motion with his palm. A blade of compressed air sliced upward. With a faint pssh, the massive stone was neatly halved.
BOOM! BOOM!
The two halves of the boulder crashed into the earth on either side of Aeridar, kicking up twin plumes of dust.
"Is this all you have left?"
Aeridar’s face darkened with displeasure. He looked toward Bara, nearly a hundred meters away, and said irritably, "If you’re going to throw things, at least follow Garp’s lead and toss a giant iron ball. This? This is pathetic."
Finished speaking, Aeridar crouched down and thrust his hand into a deep fissure at his feet.
"UP!"
With a thunderous roar, Aeridar heaved upward. His monstrous strength erupted, and he physically tore a massive section of the earth right out of the ground.
The slab was over twenty meters thick, the top third a foundation of masonry and the rest a massive block of soil and bedrock. Aeridar launched this hundred-square-meter island of earth into the sky, sending it screaming toward Bara.
"Hiss—! You’ve got to be joking!"
Bara sucked in a breath of cold air, staring in horror as the massive slab blotted out the sun.
BOOM—!
"Together, now!"
Suddenly, a shockwave erupted from behind Bara as a figure shot forward like a bolt from a crossbow. Sabo blurred past him, catching a gust of wind as he leaped high into the air.
Snapping out of his shock, Bara gripped his metal warhammer and followed suit.
"Dragon’s Claw!!!"
Sabo’s fingers curved into a claw, coated in obsidian-black Armament Haki. He lunged, his "Dragon’s Claw" tearing through the atmosphere with a piercing howl.
"Mountain Smash!!!"
Bara gripped his warhammer with both hands, swinging it in a massive overhead arc. The air in front of the hammer compressed visibly as it roared toward the oncoming slab.
CRASH!RUMBLE—!
Two titanic forces collided. The massive plate of earth, which had looked large enough to cover the sky, was instantly webbed with millions of cracks before exploding. Soil and rock rained down in every direction like a meteor shower.
A violent shockwave rippled outward, kicking up a column of dust that reached the heavens.
RUMBLE!
As soon as Sabo and Bara touched the ground, the earth began to vibrate violently. The terrain around them rose in high surges like ocean waves, carrying tons of masonry and soil until they formed three gargantuan, lion-headed beasts.
ROAR—!ROAR—!
One after another, the earthen lions let out silent, vibrating roars as they surged across the battlefield, closing the distance to surround their prey.
"Damn it! It’s the Float-Float Fruit’s power!" Sabo shouted, his voice tight with alarm.
"What the hell are these things?! Get back!"
Bara watched as a twenty-meter-tall lion lunged at him with its maw wide open. Panicked, he swung his warhammer, unleashing a shockwave of air.
BOOM!
The giant lion’s head exploded into a spray of dirt and stone.
"Lion’s Threat: Imperial Earth Bind!"
Standing suspended in mid-air, Aeridar extended his hand and slowly closed his fist.
Immediately, seven or eight massive earthen lions converged with a deafening roar, forming a colossal, prison-like enclosure. Tons of earth and stone collapsed toward the center, blotting out the sunlight as they sought to bury Sabo and Bara alive.
"Move!"
Sabo’s expression was grim. He pulled his hands back to his waist and leaped upward.
"Dragon Claw Style: Dragon’s Breath!!!"
Sabo unleashed a gutteral roar, thrusting his black, metallic claws into the very air.
KABOOM—!
Like the breath of a divine dragon, a shockwave of concentrated energy rippled through the air. The impact was cataclysmic, blasting a twenty-meter-wide hole through the towering wall of earth.
Seizing the opening, Sabo used a Geppo-like technique to rocket through the gap just as the massive hole began to heal, filled by the surging earth.
"NO—!"
Bara tried to follow, but he was a fraction of a second too slow. He could only watch in despair as the massive gap was sealed by tons of shifting soil.
Bara swung his warhammer frantically, unleashing a powerful air wave that punched a five-meter-wide tunnel through the thick wall. However, the moment he dove into the tunnel, the seven remaining lions fully converged. The earth crushed inward from all sides, and the narrow tunnel collapsed instantly, burying Bara deep within the mound.
RUMBLE...
Millions of tons of earth and stone continued to compress inward. Within breaths, the mass sank back into the ground, leaving behind a leveled, silent wasteland as if nothing had ever happened.
Had this not been the center of Dressrosa, once crowded with architecture, the sudden appearance of this desolate plain would have been eerie beyond words.
Huff... huff...
Sabo panted heavily, looking back at the wasteland with lingering fear. He knew Bara wasn’t coming back out.
The wide-scale destruction of the Float-Float Fruit was simply too terrifying. Without overwhelming physical power to break through, anyone caught under the weight of tens of thousands of tons of earth would be ground into nothingness.
In the air, Aeridar glanced at the Birdcage, which had already shrunk by half. He frowned slightly and muttered to himself, "I need to pick up the pace."
SWISH—!
Suddenly, a blue-white arc of sword energy shot from the distance. Aeridar’s brow twitched as he tilted his body to dodge.
"Take my blade!"
With a crazed, gutteral roar, Haunger, covered in blood and looking half-insane, charged forward. He leaped into the air, thrusting his estoc toward Aeridar.
CLANG!
Aeridar’s eyes narrowed. He reached out and caught the blade in his bare hand.
However, he felt a sharp sting. The incredibly refined sword aura sliced into his palm; blood ran down the length of the blade, dripping into the air.
"How about you take one of my punches instead?"
Aeridar’s voice was frigid. He shifted his grip and brought his hand down like a blade against Haunger’s shoulder.
SHLICE—!
The obsidian-black hand-blade, vibrating at high frequency, was sharper than any forged steel. It sheared through Haunger’s right shoulder, severing his sword arm completely. Blood erupted from the wound like a fountain, spraying across the sky.
"AAAAAHHH!"
Haunger screamed, beginning his terminal fall toward the ground.
"Die."
With a cold mutter, Aeridar flicked his fingers, firing off several compressed air bullets.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Haunger’s chest erupted in blossoms of red as if he’d been hit by a firing squad. The high-powered air bullets tore straight through his body.
THUD.
Haunger’s body slammed into the dirt, kicking up a small cloud of dust.
And so, the master swordsman of the Aubrey Kingdom, a world-renowned Grandmaster, the 11th successor of the Cran Estoc Style, "Flash Blade" Gergiel Haunger, fell in Dressrosa!
Slain at the hands of the Lord of the Neutral Zone, Warlord of the Sea, and Captain of the Chris Pirates, "Golden Ring" Aeridar.
