One Piece: Getting Stronger by Writing a Diary
Chapter 561 - 728 – I’ve Decided to Join"Arton, please let Hina pleasure you."
"Other than doing this, Hina truly cannot think of any way to repay you."
"Hina doesn't know how to cook, sing, or dance like you suggested."
Kneeling in front of Arton, Hina spoke with utmost sincerity. After finishing, she tried even harder to reach for his waist, straining her head forward as well.
Arton's expression turned conflicted.
Was this really the Hina he knew? Why was she being so stubborn when trying to thank someone?
After considering it carefully, however, Hina's actions did fit her established personality.
A strong-willed woman like Hina would never be willing to owe someone a favor.
To Hina herself, her only value was Hina herself.
As intelligent as she was, she must have understood that too.
Considering the demand Spandam had previously made of her, it was understandable that Hina would choose to thank him with her body.
Even so, Arton still could not accept it.
"Unless you're willing to become a member of my Flameblade Pirates from now on, I can't accept you behaving this way."
"You may not realize this, Hina, but once you truly become mine, I won't be able to let you leave."
Arton tightened his grip with both hands and lifted Hina up, speaking to her with exceptional solemnity.
"You want me to become a member of the Flameblade Pirates?"
Hina blinked, somewhat puzzled.
"That's right." Arton nodded gravely. "Once the distance between you and me becomes negative—even once, no matter how it happens—I will never let you leave again."
"Once you leave Enies Lobby, the Marines and the World Government will inevitably hunt you down."
"This may upset you, but I still have to say it: you're too weak."
"With your abilities, a little bad luck is all it would take for the Marines or the World Government to capture you."
"If the distance between us ever becomes negative, I won't want to see you captured by the World Government."
"Even less would I want Spandam's earlier threat to actually happen to you."
"So, to give you greater freedom in deciding whether to leave my ship or remain aboard it, you don't need to thank me in such an extreme way."
Arton's words carried a somewhat bitter, earnest tone.
Hina understood him perfectly. As for what he meant by their "distance becoming negative," she had read enough manga drawn by Arton himself to grasp the concept.
"Because you don't want to see me captured again after we've grown that close?"
"Arton, you really are a gentle man."
Hina was deeply moved.
"So you still—Wait, why are you kneeling again?"
Arton wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at her helplessly.
"Because Hina has thought it through. Hina has decided to join your pirate crew, Arton."
Hina reached out with both hands, firmly clasped Arton's hands, and spoke with a serious expression.
"Huh?"
Arton had been about to lift her again, but after hearing her response, he froze on the spot.
...
"You heard correctly, Arton. No—perhaps Hina should call you Captain Arton now."
"Captain Arton, you'll accept Hina, won't you?"
"Hina has nowhere else to go now. Since you saved Hina, please take responsibility."
Hina smiled warmly at him.
She already had a favorable impression of Arton, and his earlier words had made her feel even more warmly toward him.
Hina also understood that although Arton enjoyed drawing some rather strange manga in which the heroines were sent flying, the Arton standing before her was a gentle and dependable man.
In that case, why would she have any reason not to join him?
She had nowhere to return to and nowhere else to go anyway.
She might as well remain by Arton's side, just like Tashigi and Ain.
Perhaps, as Tashigi had once said, she could still uphold justice while staying beside Arton.
She might no longer be able to arrest pirates as directly as she had when she was a Marine, but at Arton's side, she could at least act against Marines who violated justice, World Government officials who betrayed justice, and even wield a weapon of true justice against the Celestial Dragons.
The thought that she might one day defeat—or even kill—a Celestial Dragon just as Arton and Tashigi had done filled Hina with excitement.
After everything she had endured during her imprisonment, not even the slightest trace of goodwill toward the Celestial Dragons remained in her heart.
If she could use her own power against them, Hina would be more than willing.
"Taking responsibility? Isn't that a little sudden?"
Arton scratched the back of his head, sweating slightly.
"It isn't sudden. With your intelligence, Arton, you must have realized that apart from joining you, Hina doesn't have many other options."
"When you came to rescue Hina, you must have considered that she might join you for reasons beyond the bond between you."
Hina smiled.
"I won't deny that."
Arton smiled as well.
Even without the possibility of Hina joining his crew, Arton would still have rescued her for the sake of their bond.
However, he could not deny that part of the reason he had come was because he knew she might join the Flameblade Pirates.
"In that case, please allow Hina to make you feel good first."
"Hina has already agreed to join you. You can't go back on your word."
Hina smiled.
"Urk!"
The corner of Arton's mouth twitched. He had never imagined his earlier speech would end up trapping him instead.
Now that matters had reached this point, he truly had no way to stop Hina. All he could do was stare as she opened her mouth toward him.
"Wait!"
Ain suddenly spoke up.
"What is it?"
Arton looked at her in confusion.
...
"Do you want to join me?"
Hina turned toward Ain and asked her as well.
"No. This is your moment, Miss Hina."
Ain shook her head.
She would have plenty of opportunities to talk and spend time with Arton afterward. Since that was the case, she could allow Hina to have this chance with him entirely to herself.
Furthermore, allowing Hina and Arton to interact properly now would strengthen Hina's resolve to join the Flameblade Pirates. Ain naturally had no intention of stealing her time.
"I simply think that such a wonderful scene shouldn't have an eyesore present."
"Please wait a moment while I throw this repulsive piece of garbage away."
Ain pointed at Spandam as she spoke.
