One Piece: Getting Stronger by Writing a Diary

Chapter 578 - 762 – Something Feels a Little Off

"Did you spot any enemies?"

Arton asked.

"I did spot several Marine warships, but don't worry. They haven't discovered us."

"Besides, their sailing route is different from ours."

"As long as we make a slight detour, we'll be able to avoid them."

Tashigi adjusted her glasses and forced herself to calm down before answering Arton's question.

However, after sampling the drink in her cup, she still felt vaguely melancholy.

Without realizing it, her gaze once again drifted toward Arton's pants.

Arton naturally noticed where she was looking, but he did not say much about it.

He chuckled and asked, "Will those Marine warships affect our journey to Water 7?"

"They will," Tashigi replied firmly. "To avoid being discovered by them, we'll need to take a small detour, which will indeed delay our arrival at Water 7."

"A slight delay doesn't matter. I'm not in any rush to replace the ship."

For Arton, the important thing was reaching Water 7 safely, not causing a huge commotion and attracting the Marines' and World Government's elite forces.

Although Arton was not afraid of them, that did not mean he underestimated their strength.

He knew perfectly well that even though he was powerful now, there were still some members of his crew who were not particularly strong.

Raki and Hina, who had yet to receive templates, were especially worth mentioning.

Thinking of Hina, Arton unconsciously looked toward the woman he had placed on the floor earlier.

Unexpectedly, she had already rolled over and was now lying on her side, facing him.

At the sight, Arton could not help swallowing.

He had to admit that Hina was exceptionally alluring right now.

"I understand, Captain."

"I'll let everyone know if it becomes necessary so they can steer the ship farther away from the Marine warships."

Tashigi spoke solemnly.

"Then I'll leave it to you, Tashigi."

"Keep observing the surrounding area. I'll help Hina sober up."

Arton smiled and walked toward Hina.

Earlier, under the influence of Uta's Devil Fruit powers, Arton had fought Hina thoroughly.

That naturally left him curious about how much combat strength the real Hina possessed.

Since she was unconsciously assuming a fighting stance now, Arton did not mind testing her.

Tashigi's eyes widened, her mouth forming a small O.

She watched Hina endure Arton's thrusting technique with envy, wishing she could take Hina's place.

However, after remembering the mission Arton had entrusted to her, she could only turn around and continue observing the sea with her excellent eyesight and Observation Haki.

Even so, her ears unconsciously perked up as she listened to the sounds of Arton and Hina's sparring behind her.

Without realizing it, Tashigi entered a state of combat readiness as well.

Unfortunately, there was no opponent available for her at the moment.

She could only wait silently for Hina to lose.

Before long, however, Tashigi noticed something wrong.

Hina was drunk, which meant she could not replace Tashigi on lookout duty.

If Tashigi joined Arton in sparring too, wouldn't that leave no one watching the sea?

As the soldier responsible for lookout duty, Tashigi naturally did not want to see the sea left unmonitored.

If Marines truly discovered their trail while she and Arton were sparring, Tashigi would feel that everything was her fault.

No matter what happened, she did not want to allow such a situation to occur.

Left with no other choice, Tashigi could only abandon the idea of sparring with Arton.

Even though she had already entered a state of combat readiness after hearing the intense sounds of Arton and Hina's match, she had no idea how much time passed before the noises behind her finally stopped.

Just as Tashigi thought she could finally breathe a sigh of relief, Hina's somewhat weak voice rang out.

"I'm so thirsty, Captain. Could you give me a glass of rich fruit juice?"

"Fruit juice?" Arton glanced at the tray beside Tashigi. "Unfortunately, Tashigi has already finished it."

Tashigi: "…"

Couldn't he leave any for her?

In such a scorching environment, she needed plenty of hydration too.

Tashigi sighed, wondering whether she should ask Arton to temporarily take over her duties while she went down to the observation room to bring up something to eat and drink. Before she could decide, Hina's voice rang out again.

"It's fine. I'm sure you still have even richer juice on you, Captain."

Hearing that, Tashigi saw Hina begin drawing juice from Arton with all her strength.

The sight made Tashigi heave a deep sigh and temporarily abandon the idea of going downstairs for refreshments.

After an unknown amount of time, just as Tashigi felt she had reached her limit, Hina finally let out a satisfied sound. Arton's voice then came from beside Tashigi.

"Tashigi, I need someone to spar with. Can you accompany me?"

"B-But I still have work to do."

Tashigi pursed her lips.

"Don't worry. I'll just stand behind you."

Arton raised a hand and patted her shoulder.

Tashigi immediately understood what he meant.

Without realizing it, she placed both hands on the windowsill in front of her.

"Very well. Let's begin. Oh, and don't forget to keep observing the situation at sea."

Arton said.

Tashigi nodded, about to say something reassuring when a tremendous impact suddenly struck her heart.

For a moment, she could not utter a single word.

Not only that, but she found it increasingly difficult to continue observing the sea.

"N-No… I absolutely can't forget my mission."

Tashigi gritted her teeth, unconsciously clenching both hands as she stared wide-eyed at the sea, desperately reminding herself not to neglect her duty.

Behind her, Arton smiled faintly, feeling even more satisfied with the responsible Tashigi.

Farther back, Hina had eaten and drunk her fill. Her stomach pleasantly full, she watched Tashigi grit her teeth while continuing to monitor the sea and could not help sighing in admiration.

"Sorry, Tashigi. I'm really not in very good condition right now."

"I might only be able to help you properly later."

Hina muttered to herself before finally succumbing to exhaustion and falling into a deep sleep.
