Chapter 359: Hell Difficulty Monster, Using Time Stop

It took them around 20 minutes to find some empty fields since almost every one was occupied, a testament to how popular this facility was and how many players wanted to use it.

"Hello~" a female lizard smiled warmly at them, her voice cheerful and welcoming, "What can I do for you today~"

"Want to train," Leon replied bluntly, not interested in small talk or pleasantries, wanting to get straight to the point.

"Oh, which difficulty would you like to try?" she asked cheerfully, pulling out a sheet of paper.

"...?" Seeing him confused, the lady pulled out a sheet of paper reserved for new citizens, on it was all the available difficulties listed in clear text.

"Easy, Standard, Hard, Hell, Impossible?" Leon read aloud, his eyes scanning the options.

"The strength and level of the monsters will change based on the difficulty you select," the lady explained patiently, "Every difficulty has hundreds of monsters in its database, so it’s unpredictable and every fight will allow you to get better at adapting to different situations!"

Leon was actually very surprised by the way this was set up, it truly sounded too good to be true for a training facility, but he was eager to test it out.

He selected [Hell] without any hesitation, then paid the 5,000 Eternal Coins fee per attempt, and entered the field through a shimmering barrier that separated him from the outside world.

Celeste and Emilia were both looking at him through the transparent barrier from outside the field, their faces filled with anticipation and curiosity about how he would perform.

And then, a notification appeared before him as the system activated and prepared to summon his opponent.

Ding!

[Player detected.]

[Difficulty: Hell.]

[Summoning one of the monsters from the "Hell" database...]

[Recommended Level: 95.]

Leon didn’t even budge at any of the information that appeared before him, his expression completely calm and ready for whatever was about to come his way.

This was also the perfect opportunity to test out his [Time Stop] in real-time conditions without having to go outside the kingdom.

Fwoosh!

The monster that materialized in front of Leon was a [Devilish Horse], a large creature wreathed in crimson flames that licked at the air around it, its hooves scorching the ground beneath them with each restless movement.

Its eyes glowed with a dark, malevolent aura as it slid its heels against the ground repeatedly, the motion sending sparks flying in every direction as it prepared to charge.

It was clearly eager to trample the intruder who had dared to enter its domain.

’Level 95...’ Leon thought, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the creature before him.

That was the highest level Leon had ever fought in this life, as the previous maximum he had faced was level 90 for the minutes-monster boss.

But still, he somehow didn’t feel nervous at all despite the gap in levels, taking his stance and letting his instincts guide him, his body relaxed and ready for whatever came next.

---

[Devilish Horse (Mana Monster)]

[Level: 95]

[Talent: None.]

[Combat Power: 7,000,000]

[Details: A "Hell" difficulty monster extracted from the imperial kingdom’s large database, summoned using mana.]

---

The horse rushed forward at full speed without any warning, its hooves pounding against the ground like thunder, the field around him and Leon setting ablaze as its flames spread across the grass and stone.

Even Celeste and Emilia were slightly shocked by the display, because though they fought "Hell" difficulty monsters regularly during their month of training, this one seemed especially violent and aggressive compared to the ones they had faced.

"Does your friend know what he’s doing?" the lady at the desk asked with genuine concern, her scaly brow furrowed, "Its usually safe since the monsters disappear if an injury is too dangerous, but there have been many cases of death from overconfidence..."

Hearing that, Celeste and Emilia both smiled confidently, their eyes fixed on Leon as he prepared to face the charging beast, "Yeah, he’ll be fine, don’t worry about him."

Right as the horse was about to reach Leon and slam its entire body into him with devastating force, the flames around its form roaring with intensity, he made his move.

Time Stop!

Leon focused on the power of his supreme time affinity, the threads of time surrounding him pulsing violently as he channeled his will into the forbidden spell, the energy building within him like a gathering storm.

And with a powerful shockwave, much like the time overseer had done during their battle, the entire world except for Leon turned grey and still, every particle of dust and every flicker of flame frozen in place.

"Wow..." Leon let out as he looked around for a split second, taking in the surreal sight of everything around him completely motionless.

Everything around him had stopped, whether it was the many different players and monsters fighting in other fields, Emilia and Celeste who were now frozen with expressions of concern on their faces, or even the devilish horse in front of Leon, its massive form hanging in mid-charge.

Leon didn’t really have the time to wonder about it much though, as he could feel the threads of time trying to return to normal, the spell’s grip on reality weakening with each passing moment.

In fact, after not even a fraction of a second since time stopped, the spell already started to wear off as time began to creep back into motion, the grey world slowly regaining its color.

Seeing this, Leon immediately acted, his body moving on pure instinct as he launched himself out of the way of the horse’s attack just in time.

He couldn’t attack while time was stopped, that was one of the limitations of the spell, but much like the time overseer had done to him, if he swung his sword during the frozen moment then the attack would hit as time returned, making it an effective strategy.

And indeed, right as time came back and the horse resumed its run, the world snapping back into full motion, Leon’s sword was already in motion.

SLASH!

He swung his sword with all his might, hitting the horse’s body perfectly and cutting it cleanly in half with one decisive swing that split the creature.

It fell to the ground in two pieces, dead, before beginning to disintegrate into blue particles of mana that scattered across the field like glowing dust.

Ding!

[You have defeated "Devilish Horse (Hell)" in one attack, incredible!]

As soon as he read this notification though, Leon fell to his knees and began to breathe heavily, the strain of using the forbidden spell catching up to him all at once.

After using the forbidden spell, it felt like the threads of time were binding Leon’s every movement as "punishment", wrapping around his limbs and making even the simplest actions feel like moving through thick mud.

’Holy shit, how does the time overseer even manage to use it hundreds of times with only a small break once he gets exhausted?’ Leon wondered, the sheer difference in their capabilities staggering to think about.

Leon felt like it would take him at least an hour to recover and use it again at full strength, but that would still mean being exhausted and drained from the effort, a significant limitation.

He slowly got up, trying to swing his sword around to test his mobility, then sighed with relief when he found that he could still move relatively well despite the fatigue.

"H-Holy hell, what was that?" Emilia shouted as Leon approached, her eyes wide with shock, "Y-You teleported or something!"

"Haha," Leon grinned as he scratched the back of his head, "Little trick I learned at the [Time Tower]."

"You stopped time?!" Celeste immediately guessed, her voice filled with awe, "Wow, that must be... insane! No wonder you killed that thing so fast!"

"Is that why you’re out of breath?" Emilia asked with concern, noticing his labored breathing.

"Punishment," Leon simply replied, not wanting to dwell on it much longer, "I guess it was easy though with that ability, could probably attempt the [Impossible] difficulty if I wanted to push myself."

"Oh, no sir, I don’t recommend it," the lady shook her head vigorously, her expression turning serious, "You may be... extremely strong, but far too many die from the monsters in the impossible database, they’re all level 100 and incredibly aggressive."

Leon looked at her with a confused expression, as if asking her if she hadn’t seen what he just did and how easily he had handled the hell difficulty monster.

But to be honest, Leon hadn’t fought any level 100 monster in this life either, so perhaps he had forgotten about how strong they actually were compared to other creatures.

He didn’t truly believe he couldn’t take one though, as he may struggle and have to use his abilities carefully, but he was confident he wouldn’t lose outright.

But before he attempted that more difficult challenge, he had something else in mind.

"How about you two show me what you can do after a month of training," Leon asked with a warm smile, "Need to assess how much stronger you’ve become and what new abilities you’ve picked up."

Hearing that, the two girls suddenly became excited and nodded enthusiastically, both selecting the [Hell] difficulty monster and entering their respective fields with renewed energy and determination.
