Chapter 392: Alphox’s Aura Pulse, The Mountain’s Crater["Alphox" has learned the skill "Aura Pulse"]
[Aura Pulse: Sends a pulse of aura 500-meters around the user, every single being hit by the pulse will be visible.]
The two assassins’ figures now revealed and exposed to Leon’s vision, they continued to launch more daggers to attempt to overwhelm him and the pet dragon while they still could, hoping to eliminate their targets before their advantage completely disappeared.
They seemed to have no idea that he could see where they were now, and even where they moved to after each attack, their positions clearly marked in his vision.
Fwoosh!
Leon rushed forward toward where one of the assassins was, his body moving with deadly intent and precision.
"Hah, this idiot still doesn’t realize we constantly move—" the assassin started to say, confident in their ability to evade.
SLASH!
But Leon still followed the assassin even though he moved, tracking his position perfectly, and swung his sword at him while he was still moving through the air.
Instantly, the assassin’s body was cut apart, killing him before he could even react or make a sound, his body falling to the ground in two pieces.
His companion’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief, and a tremor of fear rushed through his body as Leon turned his gaze exactly where he was standing, staring directly at him.
"You...?" the assassin stammered, his voice trembling with sudden terror.
Cataclysmic Fireball!
Leon summoned his fireball and launched it toward where the assassin was, the massive sphere of flames roaring through the air toward its target.
And even though the assassin tried to move out of the way and escape, Leon anticipated his movement perfectly.
SLASH!
Leon cut him apart too, officially ending their run of the event and eliminating them from the competition.
Tick! Tick!
[61 participants remain.]
But as soon as he was done with this unexpected interruption, Leon didn’t relax at all, instead he felt like he had wasted some precious minutes that could have been spent gathering more mana points and rushed toward where Emilia pointed even faster than before.
None of his undead skeletons had died yet, so he was quite sure that she was okay and safe, slowly regenerating her mana and recovering from her exhaustion.
And after a while of running through the treacherous terrain, Leon actually reached the spot that Emilia had told him about, and his eyes widened at the sight before him.
Right in the middle of the [Treacherous Mountains], where no player who wasn’t prepared dared to come, was a giant crater that seemed to plunge deep into the earth itself.
And in that crater lay dozens upon dozens of monsters from varying difficulties, all of them trapped together in a chaotic mass of bodies and claws.
The crater was actually extremely deep, so much so that anyone who fell inside would have a hard time leaving without some form of flight or climbing ability.
Perhaps that’s why all these monsters were stuck here: they fell in at some point and were unable to leave, trapped in this natural prison.
Leon could see them toss each other around as their bodies piled on top of one another, a writhing mass of monsters fighting for dominance.
And if a player fell into that place, if they didn’t have the ability to fly or a skill to escape, it was pretty much game over for them.
’Amazing,’ Leon thought with a wide grin, ’But that also means... that I’ll be able to get a LOT of Mana Points from this place.’
Of course, Leon had to think about a way to exit after he was done, because there was no way he’d stay stuck there for the rest of the event and miss out on other opportunities.
"Kaaaaa~" Alphox raised his wings, suggesting that perhaps they could fly out together, but Leon scratched his chin thoughtfully.
"Heh... are you strong enough to carry me?" Leon grinned as he looked at the dragon, amused by the offer.
"Kaaaaooo!" Alphox nodded his head enthusiastically, confident in his abilities.
"Don’t worry, you won’t need to, I have a few ways to escape it," Leon spoke, his mind already planning, "Lets focus on killing these things first."
Cataclysmic Fireball!
He summoned the massive fireball with his staff and unleashed it into the crater below, the sphere of flames descending with incredible force.
It lost some of its power as the distance was actually pretty high, the flames dissipating slightly, but even then, the sheer amount of monsters was large enough for him to hit and kill a few of them easily.
BOOM!
A massive explosion erupted, and Leon received the notifications of his kills.
Ding!
[You have defeated "Mana Boar (Mana Monster)"]
[You have defeated "Treacherous Sheep (Mana Monster)"]
[You have defeated...]
The monsters he killed turned into particles, and their mana points entered Leon’s mana storer jar, filling it with glowing energy.
He actually continued like this for a quite a while, simply firing his spells from above, or at least those that had the range to reach the bottom of the crater.
His shadow bullets for example, due to his SSS-Rank darkness sub-talent, didn’t lose power no matter how far he threw them, maintaining their deadly force.
They hit many monsters and killed them while they could do nothing to defend themselves from the onslaught from above.
But of course, it was mostly the "hell" difficulty monsters who kept dying to that strategy, as the "impossible" difficulty ones were indeed more massive and resilient, but still strong enough to dodge it all when they noticed the attacks coming.
After around an hour of continuous bombardment from above, and 117 Mana Points gained from the kills, Leon looked back down, and saw only twelve monsters remained in there, each of them from the impossible difficulty.
"Welp, I guess just attacking from above won’t work anymore," Leon smiled, stretching his arms, "Its time to attack them head on and finish this."
And just like that, he jumped down into the crater, ready to take on all these monsters to secure first place.
