Only I am Venerable

Chapter 355 - 352: Venomous Tongue!

To be honest, these people had never really paid much attention to a sect like the Paradise Celestial Palace. At best, it was just a minor offshoot that had branched off from their own sect years ago. They didn’t even care about the Mysterious Land where the Paradise Celestial Palace was located.

In the eyes of truly powerful sects and families, a Mysterious Land was no big deal. It was simply a place with more abundant Spiritual Qi, and a greater number of Spiritual Objects and Heavenly and Earthly Treasures.

In fact, they hadn’t even fully explored the Mysterious Land they inhabited, so how could they find the time or energy to investigate others?

Only major clans and great powers like Profound Island were so insatiably greedy, vainly attempting to unify the world and have all nations pay them tribute.

But no matter how little they cared for the Paradise Celestial Palace, it was, after all, a sect with countless ties to their own. How could they just stand by and watch as it was tragically annihilated?

So, this group searched painstakingly within the ruins of the Paradise Celestial Palace. Using a unique mark known only to their fellow sect members, they actually managed to find a clue. An Elder, killed by Qin Li, had left behind a mysterious symbol just before dying—a symbol that only members of the Paradise Celestial Palace could understand.

In truth, the symbol was just a name. But in the Cyan Dragon Kingdom, this name was so extraordinary that they didn’t even need to investigate. After staying for just a short while, they heard this legendary name from people of all walks of life: Qin Li!

And so, this group of disciples from a major sect in the Mysterious Land of the Western Celestial Lake Kingdom emerged from the Paradise Celestial Palace’s territory. They came to the Imperial City Cyan Dragon City, met with Emperor Zhao Xinghai, and directly demanded a nationwide manhunt for Qin Li.

Zhao Xinghai was naturally unwilling. Setting aside how he came to the throne, the mere fact that his sister, Zhao Qianqian, was with Qin Li—and had likely already become his woman—was enough reason for him not to want to make things difficult. Not to mention, Qin Li’s unfathomable abilities made Zhao Xinghai less than optimistic about this group’s plan for revenge.

So, Zhao Xinghai tried to tactfully dissuade them, claiming that Qin Li had left the Cyan Dragon Kingdom many years ago and his whereabouts were unknown.

Of course, these people didn’t believe him, nor would they accept this outcome. They had traveled thousands of miles, yet they hadn’t been of much help to the Cyan Dragon Kingdom. On top of that, the very sect their own elders had asked about had been wiped out. If they couldn’t do something to establish their authority, wouldn’t they be looked down upon?

Thus, they threatened Zhao Xinghai. If Qin Li wasn’t around, then the people connected to him must be, right? They would capture everyone close to him and see if he still refused to show himself!

In the end, the weak can’t overcome the strong. Forced by these people, Zhao Xinghai ordered the arrest of Hu and his family. He hadn’t intended to harm Hu’s family—he knew of Hu’s relationship with Qin Li, and who would willingly play the villain for no reason?

Unexpectedly, however, a traitor’s words provided the strongest proof that Qin Li had annihilated the Paradise Celestial Palace. Enraged, the group flew into a fury. The middle-aged man who had just confronted Qin Li took it upon himself to massacre Hu’s entire clan!

Despite their lofty status as transcendent masters from a Mysterious Land, they committed the atrocity of slaughtering common people. That day, rivers of blood flowed through Yellow Sand City! Over a hundred members of Hu’s clan, from the eldest to the youngest, were killed. Not even the cats and dogs were spared!

The one who informed on them was Bu Tong!

His son, Bu Jingfeng, had left and never returned. Coupled with Bu Tong’s own relatively high status, it wasn’t difficult for him to learn about this group’s origins and their recent activities.

When Bu Tong heard that the entire Paradise Celestial Palace had been wiped out, he flew into a rage and went to inform on Qin Li, cementing the "crimes" pinned on him.

Inside the barrier Qin Li had created, Hu recounted the events with tears streaming down his face, speaking as quickly as he could. A cold, dense killing intent shot from Qin Li’s eyes. It had to be said, from the moment he arrived in this world until now, this was the first time he had ever been provoked into such a murderous rage!

For all the people he had killed in the past, though he had been uncontrollably furious at the time, none of it compared to this. His very soul felt like it was convulsing in agony!

"It’s my fault... I’m the one who brought this upon your family!" Qin Li was silent for a long moment before he said slowly, "Brother, I’m sorry. This is my fault! I swear I will get revenge for you!"

Hu gripped Qin Li’s hand, his eyes filled with tears as he said in anguish, "This isn’t your fault, Brother. People of the Martial World live dangerous lives. I, Hu, have made countless enemies over the years; they just never had the power to get revenge. What I hate... what I hate is that these people took it out on my family! My mother was over eighty years old. She lived her whole life cautiously and never did a single bad thing! Yet they disemboweled her, slaughtering her on the spot. And my child... my child was only a few years old! Who could they have possibly offended? That murderer sliced off their head with a single blow! I hate them so much!"

As Hu spoke, he was so overcome with grief that he nearly fainted.

At this moment, Zhao Xinghai’s imperial carriage arrived. Qin Li now had a general understanding of the situation from Hu’s account, so he had no intention of acknowledging the emperor. Seething with killing intent, he locked his gaze on the middle-aged man opposite him and the group of men and women, young and old, behind him.

"Is that really Duke Qin? Sigh, why must you do this?" Zhao Xinghai’s voice drifted over before he even appeared. With these words, he slowly stepped out of his carriage, his gaze complicated as he looked at the handsome young man before him.

He then turned to the middle-aged man who had blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. After a moment’s hesitation, he said, "Elder Hong... look, could we perhaps... reconsider this matter? Maybe there’s been some kind of misunderstanding..."

"Misunderstanding, my ass! You dog of an emperor, I know how you got your throne! Wasn’t it because that little bastard Qin Li killed your brother that you got to be emperor? That little bastard killed my son, my only son... Reconsider? Reconsider your mother!"

A woman who looked like a madwoman rushed out from the crowd, pointing at Zhao Xinghai and screaming hysterically.

Behind her, a terrified Bu Tong rushed out and slapped his wife across the face. He then turned to the crowd and said awkwardly, "This woman is insane! Your Majesty, please don’t take offense..."

Qin Li’s eyebrow twitched. His gaze fell upon Bu Yunyan’s biological father, and his feelings... were indeed complicated. Hu hadn’t mentioned the name Bu Tong in his story, because Hu didn’t know that it was Bu Tong’s betrayal that had led to the slaughter of his clan.

But now, this woman had jumped out herself, daring to point at the emperor and hurl abuse. And the group of immensely powerful Tributors looked completely unfazed, as if this was nothing out of the ordinary. Anyone with even a sliver of sense could probably figure out what was going on.

Zhao Xinghai’s gaze fell on Bu Tong, his tone turning bone-chillingly cold. "Vice Principal Bu... You have some nerve!"

"Heh, Bu Tong, don’t be afraid! With me protecting you, let’s see who in this world dares to lay a finger on you!" the middle-aged man Zhao Xinghai had called Elder Hong sneered as he watched the scene unfold.

"Junior Brother Hong, is this Qin Li? He’s the one who injured you?" A clear, crisp voice spoke up. A young woman who looked to be only seventeen or eighteen slowly walked over, but her words were astonishing.

A young girl was actually calling a man in his forties ’Junior Brother’, and what’s more, Elder Hong wore an expression that suggested it was perfectly natural.

Elder Hong nodded, saying with some shame, "This junior brother was incompetent. The man is indeed quite skilled!"

The young woman wore a long, dark green dress that trailed on the ground as she slowly approached. She wasn’t exceptionally beautiful, but her eyes seemed to possess a soul-stealing power. Even Elder Hong kept his head lowered when speaking to her, not daring to meet her gaze, as if a single glance would be enough for her to snatch his very soul!

The young woman’s face was somewhat pale, giving her a sickly appearance, but combined with her eyes, it only added to her mystique!

A few onlookers in the distance accidentally met her eyes and immediately looked as if they had lost their souls. They began walking toward her with vacant stares, visibly aroused and drooling, completely oblivious to their own safety.

"Trash!" The young woman snorted coldly. With a wave of her delicate hand, the heads of the three or four men who had walked out suddenly rolled to the ground, splattering blood everywhere!

BOOM!

The crowd of onlookers instantly erupted in terrified screams. Faced with such a demonic woman, who would dare to stick around and watch the show? One wrong move, and they could lose their lives!

A chill ran down Zhao Xinghai’s spine as he watched. He shouted, "Let the common people leave!"

The soldiers on the side opened up a path. This crowd, many of whom were still holding rotten eggs and spoiled vegetables, had moments ago been lamenting their lost chance to throw them at Hu. Now, they only wished their parents had given them two more legs as they fled for their lives.

This was also why Qin Li didn’t intervene to stop the young woman from killing them. ’The pitiful often have their own hateful qualities,’ he thought. ’These people didn’t necessarily deserve to die, but they certainly didn’t deserve his sympathy!’

"Hee hee hee! How interesting. Hey, handsome, why... don’t you dare look at me? Do you think... I’m beautiful?" the young woman giggled coquettishly, her eyes shamelessly fixed on Qin Li.

"Slut! Just as expected from the same lineage as those lewd degenerates from the Paradise Celestial Palace! Truly despicable!" Leng Yao, who rarely expressed her anger with words, finally couldn’t hold back and spoke coldly as she watched the young woman.

The young woman’s expression instantly turned ugly. She hadn’t expected that these people in front of her all seemed immune to her Celestial Demon Soul Hooking Technique! Little did she know that whether it was Leng Yao, Qin Li, or She She, their Spiritual Power far surpassed her own! How could they possibly be bewitched by her Secret Technique?

Qin Li’s eyes fell on the green-robed woman’s ample, half-exposed chest, and he curled his lip in disgust. "You, beautiful? Are you blind or just stupid? What gives you the right to call yourself beautiful? I’ve seen shameless people before, but never a woman as shameless as you. Open your damn eyes and take a good look at yourself! Look at that chest you’ve pushed up, go on and feel that flat ass of yours, then look at that doughy, bun-like face... How dare you call yourself beautiful? If I were you, I would’ve found a tree and hanged myself long ago!" (To be continued. If you want to know what happens next, please log in to www.qidian.com.
