That sword strike was utterly brilliant, like a bolt from the blue, leaving no trace of its path.
Even the mightiest of experts would have a moment of mental vulnerability when their emotions were in turmoil, creating the perfect opening for an attack.
The Great Witch Master’s power was indeed shockingly immense, but even the strongest make mistakes!
Clearly, the Great Witch Master’s rage and arrogance were his greatest mistakes.
Facing this brilliant sword strike, the Great Witch Master’s lips curled into a disdainful sneer. With a wave of his hand, a colossal, blood-drenched hand rose to meet the purple Sword Qi.
KABOOM!
A deafening roar erupted, like a clap of thunder shaking the heavens and the earth.
The powerful force rippled out to the ground, instantly creating countless fissures. Like a colossal spiderweb, the cracks spread rapidly in all directions. The castle complex, hundreds of meters away, trembled violently, and numerous walls began to crack.
More than a dozen of the humans were struck by the shockwave. They vomited blood, grievously injured, and all scrambled back in utter terror.
But the Great Witch Master had no time to spare for the humans. Just as he met the Sword Qi, a wisp of Spiritual Power, countless times finer than a human hair, shot like a sharp arrow, viciously piercing his Sea of Consciousness!
All this happened in the blink of an eye, at the very instant the Great Witch Master’s emotions were at their most volatile, at the peak of his fury!
BOOM!
A violent storm instantly erupted within the Great Witch Master’s Sea of Consciousness!
He extinguished Qin Li’s Spiritual Attack, but in that same instant, the Great Witch Master was struck by a splitting headache. He let out a mad, furious roar and viciously blasted a palm strike toward where he believed Qin Li was hiding.
The colossal, blood-drenched hand caused space to twist and warp as it viciously slapped at the empty air. The space there was shattered by the blow. With a thunderous boom, that section of space collapsed, crushing the earth below and creating a massive crater dozens of meters wide and seventy or eighty meters deep!
However, four more arrows of Spiritual Power shot viciously into the Great Witch Master’s Sea of Consciousness. The Great Witch Master roared in madness as the tyrannical Spiritual Power within his own mind savagely lashed out at Qin Li’s.
Qin Li’s Spiritual Power in the Great Witch Master’s Sea of Consciousness was like a lone boat in a tempest. Yet, like a single stick that can muddy an entire pond, its sole purpose was to wreak havoc. The Great Witch Master couldn’t help but clutch his head, focusing all his energy on eradicating Qin Li’s Spiritual Power. He roared as the tyrannical aura around him exploded outward.
The returning Spirit Beasts in their Transformation forms didn’t dare get anywhere near him.
One that ventured slightly too close was obliterated into a bloody pulp by one of the Great Witch Master’s massive hand seals. The other Spirit Beasts all recoiled in horror, retreating into the distance.
Once a Spiritual Power attack found its mark, even a supreme expert like the Great Witch Master had no way to defend against it. All he could do was unleash his full power to prevent his enemy from seizing the opportunity to strike again.
Finally, the Great Witch Master let out a bloodcurdling shriek. His body blurred into an afterimage and vanished into the night sky.
The few Spirit Beasts in Transformation form, standing in the distance, stared at each other in bewilderment. Before they could react, Qin Li... appeared!
Against the Great Witch Master, Qin Li admitted he had no other options beyond that one lucky attack. But against these Spirit Beasts, all at the Earth Venerable and Celestial Venerable realms, Qin Li would show no such courtesy!
Dazzling slashes of purple Sword Qi tore through the tranquil night sky, mercilessly cutting down toward the Spirit Beasts.
The handful of Spirit Beasts finally snapped to their senses and immediately surrounded Qin Li, preparing to kill him together. It had to be said, their power was enough to make even Qin Li’s heart race.
However, Qin Li’s agile movements and overwhelming combat techniques had already sealed the fate of these Spirit Beasts.
WHOOSH! Qin Li shot in front of a Spirit Beast in Transformation form and threw a vicious punch. His fist, glowing with a thick layer of purple light, slammed into the beast’s hideous face, smashing it to a pulp!
With a backhanded thrust, he stabbed his sword into another Spirit Beast’s Dantian, piercing its Inner Core. The Spirit Beast was killed by Qin Li before it could even cry out.
Without even turning to face a Spirit Beast charging from behind, Qin Li bent forward and shot a leg back in a vicious kick. CRACK! The kick snapped the charging beast’s leg. He yanked the Blood-Drinking Sword from the other beast’s Dantian, spun around, and with a single slash, cleaved the beast with the broken leg in two.
In an instant, three powerful Spirit Beasts were slain. The other three shrieked in terror, turned, and fled for their lives.
If even the Great Witch Master had fled, how could they possibly be a match for this human? It had been a rush of blood to the head, thinking they could kill Qin Li to curry favor with the Great Witch Master. The slaughter of three of their own in an instant was a bloody lesson that finally jolted them to their senses.
This human was someone that not even the Great Witch Master dared to provoke!
As they ran, another of the hideous Spirit Beasts in Transformation form was cut down by a sword strike. The rest scattered in utter terror. One of them, in a blind panic, charged toward the crowd of humans.
These Spirit Beasts in Transformation form typically stayed by the Great Witch Master’s side and were heavily influenced by the Be. As the most cunning creature among their kind, the Be was naturally full of tricks and had often used hostages to force humans into submission.
In fact, to this day, all these Spirit Beasts employed the same tactic: threatening the humans with the lives of their families. If anyone disobeyed, their family would be executed.
So, a flash of inspiration struck the Spirit Beast. As if suddenly enlightened, it rushed into the crowd and roared at the pursuing Qin Li, "Stop! Or I’ll kill this person! I want to negotiate!"
The hideous Spirit Beast casually grabbed an old man by the hair, holding him as a shield, and roared viciously.
Qin Li did indeed stop. Seeing this, the other fleeing Spirit Beasts all rushed back into the crowd. Each one viciously grabbed a human hostage, baring their teeth and threatening Qin Li.
Qin Li smiled coldly. "Who’s in charge here? What do you want to negotiate?"
"I am!"
"I’m in charge!"
"I’m the third greatest warrior under the Great Witch Master! I’ll be in charge!"
Seven or eight Spirit Beasts began to clamor, each wanting to take the lead. In the end, the "third greatest" one took charge—a Spirit Beast with rabbit ears, a face full of long white fur, and a rabbit’s mouth.
Qin Li looked at the hideous creature and almost laughed out loud. ’This is clearly a rabbit,’ he thought. ’Since when did rabbits get so violent?’
Qin Li knew, of course, that the creatures of this world were vastly different from those on Earth. Many beasts that resembled Earth’s animals had temperaments that were worlds apart.
"What do you want to negotiate, Rabbit?" Qin Li asked, looking at the ugly Spirit Beast dispassionately.
"Rabbit?" The hideous creature looked confused. It turned blankly to the other Spirit Beasts and asked, "What are we negotiating?"
"Idiot! We demand the human let us go, or we kill the hostages!" shouted a frog-like Spirit Beast in Transformation form, its eyes bulging and its pupils huge.
The rabbit Spirit Beast repeated, "Right! You have to let us go, or we’ll kill all these humans!"
"Is that so?" A strange smile played on Qin Li’s lips as he asked lightly.
"Yes, yes!" The seven or eight Spirit Beasts nodded vigorously from amidst the crowd.
Suddenly, the rabbit Spirit Beast shrieked. Its already red eyes turned a frightening scarlet, and it lashed out, slapping the Spirit Beast beside it.
Caught off guard, the other Spirit Beast had half its arm slapped off. It screamed in pain. In that same moment, a flash of purple Sword Qi lopped off the rabbit Spirit Beast’s head.
Qin Li cursed inwardly. ’A pity.’ His control over the Spirit Beast with his Spiritual Power was still lacking. He had nearly lost control completely, causing the rabbit Spirit Beast to go berserk and start killing.
"Does anyone else want to negotiate with me?" Qin Li’s eyes gleamed with a chilling light as he stared coldly at the remaining Spirit Beasts.
The Spirit Beasts were terrified. They looked at each other, their limited intelligence struggling to comprehend why this human had no regard for the hostages in their grasp.
Just then, several powerful human Martial Artists within the crowd suddenly attacked. In an instant, five Spirit Beasts were slain!
However, because these human Martial Artists had attacked so rashly, three of the hostages held by the Spirit Beasts were killed, and two others were severely injured.
Nevertheless, this was humanity’s greatest victory since the Spirit Beasts had conquered their homeland and enslaved them. So, despite the sorrow of some, most people let out roars of fury that had been suppressed in their hearts for countless years.
Their roars shook the heavens!
The last two Spirit Beasts stood trembling amidst the crowd, utterly bewildered. They were beaten to death by the furious mob.
Qin Li did not intervene. He knew these people had been suppressed for far too long, to the point of becoming numb and apathetic. If they didn’t get to vent their rage, many would go insane or even die from the sheer weight of their pent-up agony.
Only after the two powerful Spirit Beasts in Transformation form had been torn to shreds, with not a single complete piece left to be found, did someone begin to cry. Soon, more and more people were shedding hot tears.
Even the man whose face was a bloody pulp, the one who had roared that a man bleeds but never weeps, could not stop hot tears from welling in his eyes. Everyone turned to face one direction—toward Qin Li—and knelt.
In the dark of night, the bonfire blazed, radiating waves of heat.
The scene was breathtaking.
No one spoke. Tears streamed down every face, and their gazes, fixed on Qin Li, were filled with boundless gratitude.
In their moment of near-total despair, Qin Li had descended like a god from the heavens. He had not only driven off the Great Witch Master but had also slain so many tyrannical Spirit Beasts in their Transformation forms, rescuing them from the depths of their suffering.
It was no exaggeration to say that Qin Li had given them all a second chance at life. He was worthy of their kneeling.
