Only I Can Use Every Power System

Chapter 33: Cha.33 Night of Slaughter

Qasim tried to move.

Nothing.

His body refused to obey.

The masked man slowly raised the blade.

For a split second, panic swallowed his thoughts.

Then instinct took over.

His lips moved on their own.

The assassin didn’t think much of it.

Just the final whisper of a terrified child.

Then—

Blue light burst from Qasim’s body.

The assassin’s eyes widened.

Too late.

A beam of light exploded forward, striking him square in the stomach.

The impact launched him across the room before he slammed into the opposite wall.

The man’s body slid to the floor.

Motionless.

Qasim remained frozen on the bed.

Only his eyes could move.

He stared at the corpse.

The smell of burnt flesh spread instantly.

The entire stomach had been burned open, leaving behind a charred hole.

"...Dead."

Relief filled his chest.

*If my Light Rune killed him this easily... then he’s probably a human.*

*If he was a beastkin or just a human with powers...*

Qasim didn’t want to imagine the result.

But another thought quickly replaced that relief.

*The poison...*

Back in the village, that poison barely affected him.

Yet this one had paralyzed his body.

*When...?*

Then it hit him.

*The dinner...*

Someone had poisoned the food.

That realization frightened him far more than the assassin.

A few seconds later, feeling slowly returned to his body.

Qasim immediately sat up.

He wasn’t foolish enough to chase whoever planned this.

Sending an ordinary assassin wasn’t what scared him.

Creating a poison capable of paralyzing someone like him...

That was terrifying.

A faint crackling noise suddenly came from the corpse.

"...?"

After searching the body, he found a small red crystal.

It pulsed every few seconds while emitting quiet static.

Qasim frowned.

It looked strangely familiar.

"...Like a walkie-talkie?"

His heart suddenly grew heavy.

*Maybe... an entire organization is behind this.*

"Or..." He whispered thinking of a worst possibly.

He rushed outside.

The academy corridor was silent.

One of the nearby room doors stood open.

Qasim slowly walked inside.

A student lay on the bed with a knife buried deep inside his chest.

Blood had soaked the sheets beneath him.

His lifeless eyes stared blankly at the ceiling.

"...No..."

Qasim stepped back.

Then ran toward another room.

Another corpse.

Another room.

Another.

More blood.

More bodies.

The realization struck him.

"They aren’t after me...They’re after all of us."

A chill ran through his entire body.

This wasn’t an assassination.

It was a massacre.

Just then...

He heard footsteps.

Far ahead, someone staggered against the wall while clutching his side.

Blood dripped onto the floor behind him.

It was one of the two Beastkin students from yesterday.

"Shit... Are you okay?"

Qasim immediately regretted the question.

*Of course he isn’t okay.*

Without lifting his head, the Beastkin forced a weak smile.

"I... I’m hurt... but I won’t die..."

"...Not yet, at least."

"Where’s the infirmary?"

The Beastkin finally looked up.

Golden eyes.

Brown hair.

An owl.

"Oh...You’re the new student."

"More bad luck for me, I guess."

"Stop joking around and answer already!"

"The end... of the hall, then left."

Qasim quickly supported him, helping him walk.

He wasn’t sure if he was doing it correctly.

Nobody had ever taught him.

But he tried his best.

After several long minutes, they finally reached the academy infirmary.

Inside...

The atmosphere was suffocating.

Some students cried quietly.

Others stared blankly at the floor.

Several lay unconscious while the academy healers desperately treated them.

Qasim recognized many of them.

Almost everyone was injured.

The only students who still looked capable of fighting were himself...

Timon.

The muscular red-haired student.

Chadi.

A skinny young man with long black hair covering his eyes, apparently an alchemist.

Verm.

The strongest female student in second year, with blonde hair and green eyes.

Zerni.

The dwarf.

Short, heavily built, with long brown hair and matching brown eyes.

Including Qasim...

Only five students remained unharmed.

Timon walked toward him.

"We need to talk."

"Sure, let me help him first."

Qasim carefully lowered the Beastkin onto one of the empty beds.

Timon frowned.

"The half-beast?"

"Let it die."

Qasim slowly looked back at him.

"There isn’t time for your racism."

"Either help this student or we don’t talk."

For the first time that day...

Timon looked genuinely surprised.

Being called out by someone younger than him clearly annoyed him.

"You little brat..."

He stepped forward.

Before he could grab Qasim...

Verm moved between them.

"Enough."

"You’re clearly the one in the wrong here."

She gently pushed Timon back before taking the medical supplies herself.

"I’ll handle his wound."

Only after making sure the owl beastkin was receiving treatment did she gather everyone.

"So... I just want to confirm something."

"Did everyone get attacked the same way?"

She looked around.

"I woke up because an assassin entered my room."

"I grabbed my sword and killed him."

Timon snorted.

"I was doing push-ups."

"He opened the door."

"On punch was enough to kill him."

"What a pathetic amateur."

His eyes wandered toward the injured students.

"Even amateurs managed to kill this many useless nobles."

"Pathetic."

Chadi start playing with his hair as he speaks.

"I always leave sleeping powder in front of my door."

"My assassin stepped on it."

"He fell asleep then I killed him."

Zerni crossed his arms.

"I was working on an alchemy tool."

"He entered... So I tested it on him."

Qasim hesitated.

Should he hide Nahr’keth?

...

No.

This is a very serious situation no time to hide anything.

"I woke up paralyzed."

"There was an assassin standing over me."

"I killed him with a light beam attack."

Verm blinked.

"I think I saw you using magic, his did you kill him while you were paralyzed?"

"I use both magic and Nahr’keth."

"Oh...I see."

That was it.

No one seemed particularly surprised.

Only Timon clicked his tongue.

"Useless."

Verm ignored him.

"Our priority is simple."

"We find the teachers."

"Then the principal."

"Of course if we find the principal first that will be great."

"The students here should remain inside."

"It’s the safest place."

Everyone nodded.

As they prepared to leave...

A weak voice called out.

"W-We..."

"We’re going to be saved..."

"...Right?"

It came from one of the injured students.

The entire infirmary looked toward Verm.

She smiled.

A calm, reassuring smile.

The kind that made people believe everything would be alright.

"We will."

"I promise."

The student slowly nodded before closing his eyes again.

Right after that the owl beastkin approached Qasim.

"I will go with you."

"Huh? You are injured."

Qasim seriously start questioning if this student has some mental issue.

"Don’t worry... Here take a look."

Qasim saw the wounded place rapidly healing."

"Beastkin has increase healing factor so you don’t have to worry... Please I want to help."

Qasim don’t know what to say but he just accept his help.

"Thank you... By the way my name is Kevin, nice to meet you."
