"So... did I win?"
For a moment, the entire arena was silent.
The old goblin referee looked at the young goblin lying on the ground, then at Qasim standing above him.
"Human boy wins!"
The announcement was followed by a wave of murmurs from the surrounding goblins.
"I will fight him next!"
Another goblin stepped forward.
This one was older than the previous one, with an even larger body and thicker muscles.
Qasim looked at him and smiled slightly.
The referee raised his hand.
"START!"
The goblin immediately charged toward him.
Qasim did the same thing as before.
He waited until the goblin was close enough, then jumped into the air.
The goblin followed him.
But before he could even understand what was happening, Qasim twisted his body in mid-air, used a small burst of wind magic to change his direction, and kicked him directly in the face.
The goblin crashed onto the ground.
Qasim landed.
The referee raised his hand.
"Human boy wins!"
Qasim stared at the defeated goblin.
Another goblin stepped forward.
"I challenge him!"
Qasim sighed.
"Alright."
The fight started.
And once again Qasim won.
Three victories in a row.
The goblins around the arena began whispering among themselves.
"He defeated three already."
"Should we challenge him?"
"I’m not sure..."
The regular goblins were beginning to hesitate.
Qasim noticed it too.
"Well, I guess that’s it."
But then a figure stepped forward.
This time, it was a goblin girl.
She had the same powerful build as the previous challengers, but something about her immediately felt different.
Qasim’s expression became serious.
"This one won’t be as easy."
The referee raised his hand.
"START!"
The goblin girl didn’t move.
Instead, she stood completely still.
Then...
Crack.
A strange sound came from her body.
Qasim’s eyes widened.
Bones began growing from her arms.
Then her shoulders.
Her back.
Her legs.
Within seconds, additional bones were covering different parts of her body, forming something that looked almost like natural armor.
Qasim could have attacked her while she was preparing.
But he wanted to see where this would go.
Ten seconds later, the goblin girl was completely covered in bone armor.
Then she charged.
Qasim jumped.
The girl jumped too.
He immediately used wind magic to push himself sideways.
She tried to kick him, but her kick passed through the air where his body had been.
Qasim didn’t waste the opportunity.
He gathered fire ball and mixed it with several electric waves.
BOOM!
The explosion swallowed the goblin girl.
But she came out of it and landed on her feet before she charged at him.
She was much better than the previous three fighters, but her fighting style was still relatively simple.
Punch, Kick, Charge and repeat.
Qasim stomped his foot.
Water instantly froze beneath her feet.
Her balance disappeared.
The Qasim jumped and kicked her with both legs.
BOOM!
The goblin girl was sent flying out of the arena.
The goblins stared.
"The human boy defeated Cirix, one of Zyra’s students?"
The girl then stood up and grabbed his hand.
Her face was filled with excitement.
"That was amazing, human boy!"
Qasim blinked.
"You’re really good enough to spar with my teacher!"
The girl turned around.
"Come on master Zyra! He’s good!"
Several goblins immediately turned their heads.
A gobline woman was sitting on a nearby rock.
She wore heavy armor and a helmet that covered most of her face.
She slowly stood up.
The surrounding goblins immediately moved aside, creating a path for her.
She walked toward the arena.
When she entered, she stopped in front of Qasim.
She stared at him.
Or at least, Qasim assumed she was staring at him because he couldn’t see her eyes beneath the helmet.
"I will challenge this human boy."
The referee nodded.
"START!"
In the next secand she disappeared.
Qasim’s eyes widened.
She was fast.
Before he could properly react—
BOOM!
Her fist slammed into his stomach.
Qasim was pushed backward.
"Ghh..."
The hit hurt a lot.
But it wasn’t enough to seriously injure him.
Qasim quickly recovered and raised his hand.
Electricity surrounded his fingers.
He combined it with water and fired the spell directly at her.
The attack struck her armor.
Qasim expected her body to become paralyzed.
After all, she was wearing metal armor.
But nothing happened.
She simply stood there.
Qasim stared.
The woman tilted her head slightly.
"Interesting human boy..."
She disappeared again.
Qasim barely managed to react.
He raised an earth pillar.
BOOM!
Her fist smashed into it.
Qasim immediately covered his body with wind and water.
The two elements spun around him, forming a small tornado.
It worked as both a defensive barrier and an offensive layer.
Qasim tried to create some distance.
He wanted enough space to cast another spell.
But Zyra didn’t give him the chance.
She followed him immediately with punches.
The pressure was too much and the tornado began to weaken.
"Come on..."
Another punch came.
Qasim tried to redirect it but the tornado shattered instantly.
The attack broke through.
BOOM!
Qasim was struck directly and sent flying.
His body crossed the arena before landing outside the ring.
His’s head start spinning as be slowly raised himself.
The amount of power Zyra had left him wounded if she is Hilal-Awal.
But before he could ask, she suddenly raised her voice.
"EVERY MAHIK GOBLIN HERE SHOULD CONSIDER THIS BOY STRONGER THAN THEMSELVES!"
The arena went silent.
Then the goblins began looking at Qasim differently.
The doubt was gone and replaced by respect.
Qasim heard a voice behind him so he turned around.
Aluna was sitting calmly on her chair.
"This is Zyra, she is one of the leaders of the expedition teams. Think of her as something similar to a Black Seed team leader."
Aluna smiled slightly.
"She is a Hilal-Awal."
Before Qasim could say anything, footsteps approached.
It was Zyra.
But she didn’t stop in front of Qasim.
She walked directly toward Aluna.
Then she lowered her head slightly.
"Lady Aluna."
Her voice was respectful.
"This warrior knows that you are far stronger than herself."
She paused.
"But it would be an honor to have one fight with you."
Aluna let out a small laugh.
"Very well."
Qasim watched them walk toward the arena.
Then he heard a voice beside him.
"My master Aluna is on her third step, Tarbi-Awal."
Qasim almost jumped.
He turned around.
Selena was standing beside him.
Her eyes were sparkling with admiration as she continued.
"She is beautiful, strong, so elegant, experienced, and she has lived far longer than us and—"
Qasim stopped listening.
His attention was already on the arena.
Zyra stood in front of Aluna.
The referee raised his hand.
"START!"
Zyra immediately moved.
Qasim watched carefully.
He was interested to see what kind of power Aluna uses.
Suddenly, something appeared beside Aluna.
Qasim’s eyes widened.
A strange creature emerged.
It didn’t look like any animal he had ever seen.
Its shape was strange.
Its presence felt even stranger.
It was almost as if the creature didn’t belong to this world.
Another one appeared, then another.
"Wait..."
He suddenly remembered something.
Aluna was an elf.
His heart began beating faster.
"Is this... Perhaps... Finna?"
