Only I Can Use Every Power System

Chapter 53: Cha.53 Stuck Like Mice (1)

"We are killers, but we’re also a bunch of miserable animals, who constantly live in pain and madness."

Qasim remained silent, staring at Broxi.

His anger hadn’t disappeared, but those words...

"Can you help us, Broxi?"

Valen finally broke the silence.

Broxi slowly raised his head.

"I will do what I can... What do you need?"

Valen then explained everything.

He told Broxi about the expedition, the flesh cocoons, the monsters that came out of them, the barrier that sealed their way back, and what happened to the other teams.

The old man listened without interrupting.

Qasim, however, was still processing everything he had heard from the old man.

He still felt an incredible amount of anger toward him and toward the Scientists.

But...

Living in constant pain and madness, huh...

"Are you okay, Qasim?"

Levia’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts.

She had stepped closer to him, looking concerned.

Qasim shook his head slightly.

"Sorry. I don’t know what got into me. I’m fine now, don’t worry."

"It’s okay, Qasim. We all understand, really."

"Thank you."

"I see..." Broxi said after hearing their story.

He rubbed his beard for a moment.

"I’m afraid to say this, but..."

He looked at them.

"You are already trapped in a time loop."

Zyra’s expression immediately hardened.

"This is impossible. We haven’t crossed the limit of chambers required to activate such an effect."

"I’m afraid your calculations are incomplete, young girl."

Broxi gave a tired smile.

"This place does indeed activate the time effect after a certain number of chambers have been crossed."

He raised one finger.

"But that doesn’t count only you."

The old man notice the confusion on their faces.

"What I mean is... as long as someone passes that number while you are inside, the effect will activate."

Zyra narrowed her eyes.

"But we came here alone. No one from outside this group has entered."

Broxi looked toward her.

"Maybe not yet."

"What do you mean by that?"

"I mean someone entered right after you did."

He slowly pointed toward the tunnel behind them.

"As long as someone enters on the same day as you and then passes the required number of chambers, the time effect will activate."

Selena frowned.

"I don’t understand."

"Well, think about it like this."

Broxi pointed toward Valen.

"Let’s say you are Point A, and there is another person who is Point B."

He then pointed toward another random direction.

"Point A enters in the morning and walks slowly through the chambers."

He raised another finger.

"Point B enters in the afternoon, but moves much faster and passes the required number of chambers."

Broxi looked around the group.

"That activates the time paradox."

His expression became serious.

"Which means that even if the time effect is activated later, it will still affect Point A... as long as it happened on the same day."

Everyone stared at him.

"That’s insane!"

Selena crossed her arms.

"Are you not just some crazy old bastard?"

Broxi blinked.

"Oh, I hope I am wrong."

He then looked at Selena more carefully.

"Also, aren’t you an elf? I’m pretty sure you’re older than me despite your young appearance."

Selena’s eyebrow twitched.

"Haha..."

She slowly smiled.

"Let’s just kill him."

"Selena!"

Aluna immediately called her name.

The other elves quickly moved to stop her before she could do anything.

Meanwhile, the others were still thinking about Broxi’s explanation.

Valen finally spoke.

"Assuming what he said is correct..."

His expression became serious.

"Who is the person that entered after us?"

Zyra thought for a moment.

"Normally, no one is allowed to enter the dungeon after the expedition has started."

She paused.

"But if there is important news that the leader needs to know, it is possible for a soldier to enter afterward."

Valen’s eyes widened slightly.

"I see..."

He looked toward Zyra.

"So a Goblin soldier entered after us to deliver some important news to you."

"That’s possible."

Valen then looked back at Broxi.

"Does that mean we can meet that soldier here?"

"Yes."

Broxi shrugged.

"In fact, anyone who becomes trapped inside can eventually appear together."

He paused.

"Well... it’s very rare, I suppose."

A weak smile appeared on his face.

"You’re actually the only people I’ve met in a very long time."

Valen frowned.

"By the way, Broxi..."

He looked at the old man.

"When did you enter this dungeon?"

Broxi thought for a moment.

He closed his eyes, searching through his old memories.

"The second of July."

Everyone froze.

"The second of July?"

Valen repeated.

"That’s almost two months ago."

His eyes slowly returned to Broxi.

"And you look like you’ve been here for sixty years."

Broxi gave a small laugh.

"Well, that’s because time here doesn’t work normally."

"Sometimes it’s the same as outside."

"Sometimes it’s slower."

"And sometimes it’s faster."

Valen finally asked the question that had been bothering him.

"Do you have any idea how to get out of here?"

Despite asking it, Valen didn’t have much hope that the old man would know.

After all...

Broxi had been trapped inside this place for almost two months.

Or from his perspective sixty years.

To their surprise, Broxi smiled.

"Actually..."

Everyone looked at him.

"I do have a theory about how we can escape."

Broxi slowly stood up using his rock staff.

"While I was exploring, I discovered that walking through certain combinations of chambers can trigger a strange time effect."

"What kind of effect?"

"It changes your age depending on the direction you take."

He paused.

"Think about it like this."

Broxi pointed toward the tunnel ahead.

"If you walk deeper toward the core of the dungeon, you age faster."

Then he pointed behind them.

"But if you move far away from the core, you return toward the age you were when you first entered the dungeon."

Doran raised an eyebrow.

"So you’re saying that as long as we aren’t aging, we’re heading toward the exit?"

"Exactly."

"Alright, great."

Doran stepped forward.

"How do we do that?"

Broxi’s smile disappeared.

"That’s the complicated part."

"Of course it is." Doran commented

"We first need to find a specific combination of chambers."

Broxi began explaining.

"Once we find it, we have to follow the path it creates. The problem is that the dungeon’s tunnels are connected to the core."

He looked at them.

"That means you are guaranteed to walk deeper before finding a turn that leads you back out."

"The question is how far we can walk before dying of old age."

This discovery was disappointing.

But at least it is something.

Valen then remembered something else.

"Now, another important question."

His eyes became sharp.

"What are the weaknesses of those monsters?"

The old man lowered his head.

"To be honest..."

He took a breath.

"They are almost perfect."

"They are intelligent enough to act on their own."

Broxi’s fingers tightened around his staff.

"But at the same time, they were created to follow the orders of the Scientists no matter what."

He looked at them.

"Their main ability is energy absorption."

"They can absorb the damage they receive and convert it into energy."

His face became grim.

"And that energy strengthens them."

Levia’s eyes widened.

"So..."

"As long as you don’t kill one in a single attack..."

Aluna continue her sentence.

"It will keep getting stronger."

Doran slowly looked toward Valen.

"He is one of the Scientists. He created them in the first place."

He looked toward Broxi.

"So they should listen to you, right?"

Broxi didn’t answer immediately.

"Well..."

Doran immediately raised his hands.

"Oh, don’t say that."

Broxi sighed.

"I did face the monster once, when I was still in my... mad state..."

He looked down.

"It followed my orders."

"But as I slowly became more aware of what I had done..."

His expression became bitter.

"It’s as if it realized that the power controlling my mind was gone."

"And then?"

"It attacked me."

Broxi touched his missing arm.

"I barely survived thanks to one of the space chambers."

"I see..."

Valen narrowed his eyes.

Broxi then asked them.

"By the way, why you keep say ’they’... I only brought one cocoon."

"You mean you don’t know there are more?"

Broxi’s eyes widened.

"M-more?"

His voice trembled for the first time.

"That thing created copies of itself?!"

"Oh God..."

"We are so fucking done for."
