"Interesting..."
Qasim decided to stay and watch.
After some time, he witnessed the battle that had happened between his group and the monsters.
He watched old Valen, Levia, Yasmin, Zyra, and the elves fight alongside his past self.
Eventually, the battle ended.
His past self moved toward the next chamber.
Only then did Qasim finally leave his hiding spot.
He returned to the strange cocoon.
He looked at it more carefully now.
"What exactly are you?"
It was becoming clear to him that the monsters were protecting this thing.
But why?
Before he could think of an answer—
The cocoon suddenly exploded.
A disgusting liquid splashed across Qasim and covered the entire chamber with its horrible smell.
But none of that mattered.
Qasim felt a chill run through his entire body.
Something was attached to him.
His eyes widened.
It was the strange baby-shaped creature.
Purple roots were emerging from its left side and had begun forcing themselves into his body.
"Fuck! Get off me!"
Qasim grabbed the creature and tried desperately to tear it away.
Nothing worked.
The creature was forcibly merging itself with him like a parasite.
Qasim tried using magic.
But the moment he hurt the creature, pain shot through his own body as well.
His face became pale.
His heart dropped.
"Don’t tell me..."
He stared at the creature.
"It’s already becoming a part of me..."
Then he remembered the time effect.
"The time effect!"
His eyes widened.
"If I go further back... I should be able to get rid of it!"
Qasim immediately rushed toward the next chamber.
But when he looked at himself, the parasite was still there.
"Damn it!"
He rushed into the next chamber.
Then another.
And another.
But nothing changed.
The creature remained attached to him and instead of removing it, the thing looks it’s fused with his body now and it quite hard to tell the difference.
"This disgusting thing..."
Qasim gritted his teeth.
"I’ll leave it to Valen. He can remove it."
He looked around, finally realizing something.
"Where even am I now?"
It took him a moment to understand.
He was now about two chambers before the moment when Aluna had first stored Broxi.
Qasim looked down.
A mana crystal was lying beside him.
He picked it up and stared at it with an exhausted smile.
"I’ve been picking these crystals for so long now..."
He looked at the crystal in his hand.
"It’s almost done. Just a few more chambers and then—"
Qasim suddenly stopped.
He heard something.
At first, the noise was faint.
But it quickly became louder.
Qasim looked around.
The sound was coming from the same place.
His eyes moved toward the wall beside him.
It was shaking.
Cracks began spreading across its surface.
"This is not good..."
Qasim immediately started running while keeping his eyes on the wall.
Then—
CRASH!
The wall shattered.
A wave of monsters came crawling out.
"Fuck!"
Qasim felt chills run through his body.
He knew this scene.
He had seen it before.
But this time, he was the one being hunted.
Qasim ran for his life.
The monsters chased after him with terrifying speed, their movements filled with pure aggression.
He wasn’t fast enough.
Several of them managed to catch up.
Qasim desperately dodged their attacks, but every strike came dangerously close to killing him.
His clothes were torn apart.
Scratches appeared across his body.
He barely managed to reach the next chamber.
Qasim looked behind him.
The monsters hadn’t followed.
Instead, they began breaking through the walls.
He didn’t stop to think about it.
He kept running.
Chamber after chamber.
His body was exhausted, his breathing was heavy, and the constant pressure was becoming unbearable.
Then he heard familiar voices.
Qasim slowed down.
He recognized the chamber.
It was the same chamber where his group had spent a long time searching for a mana crystal.
He lowered his speed and tried to calm his breathing.
A light appeared ahead.
Qasim carefully approached it.
There they were.
Valen was talking with Aluna and Zyra.
Qasim immediately realized that this was another moment from his past.
He knew he couldn’t interfere.
Changing something here could create a paradox.
But then he remembered something.
They were going to find a mana crystal eventually anyway.
So perhaps helping them now wouldn’t change anything important.
"Since they’ll find one eventually..."
Qasim tightened his grip around the crystal.
"I guess it’s not a problem to speed things up."
He stepped out of the tunnel.
Valen immediately noticed him.
"Boy! What happened to you?"
Qasim didn’t answer.
He simply walked over and placed the crystal into Valen’s hand.
"You can count on me."
Then he immediately turned around and rushed into another tunnel.
