Keisha’s POV

By the time the meal was finally served, everyone had settled comfortably around the dining table. Becca and the maids brought out enough food to make it obvious Callum had taken his instruction of preparing a feast seriously, and I couldn’t help laughing when I looked at the amount of food in front of us.

I picked up my fork and glanced at Lyra. "He really went all the way for this."

Daniel smiled beside her. "I think your uncle was just being protective."

I looked at him. "Protective is putting it mildly. You should have seen his face when he first looked at you."

Daniel chuckled. "I noticed."

Callum, sitting at the head of the table, looked over at him. "Did you?"

Daniel straightened slightly before smiling. "Yes, sir."

I burst out laughing, while Lyra covered her mouth to hide hers. "Don’t mind him," Lyra said, shaking her head. "He’s been like this since he met me."

Callum lifted his glass. "I haven’t said anything."

"You don’t need to," I replied, still smiling. "Your face says enough."

Dane laughed quietly from the other side of the table and Callum looked at him. "You have something to say?"

Dane immediately focused on his food. "No, Alpha."

That only made me laugh harder.

The conversation continued like that for most of the meal. I asked Klein several questions about where he’d been all these years, but he kept some of his answers deliberately vague, saying he’d tell me more when we had enough time to talk properly. I didn’t press him in front of everyone, especially because Callum’s attention seemed to remain fixed on him whenever he spoke.

After we finished eating, Callum invited the men to the cellar with him and Dane. I watched them leave together before Lyra touched my arm. "Come upstairs with me."

I followed her into the room, closing the door behind us before turning toward her. "Now tell me everything."

Lyra laughed. "Everything about what?"

I walked toward the bed and sat down carefully.. "Daniel. Don’t give me that innocent face. You brought a man into Callum’s house, introduced him as your boyfriend and we never talked about him before a week ago."

She dropped onto the bed beside me. "You make it sound so serious."

"It was serious. Come on."

She laughed and I stared at her. "Wait. You’re actually thinking about marriage?"

Lyra’s smile softened. "We’ve talked about it."

"Talked about it how?"

"We’ve talked about what we’d want, where we’d live, what we’d do after we’re married and what kind of ceremony we’d have. Nothing is fixed yet, but yes, we’ve started planning." She said.

I blinked at her. "How did you two even get here so quickly? You barely told me you were dating him."

She sighed. "I didn’t want to tell you until I knew it was serious."

I shifted closer. "Then tell me how you met."

Lyra tucked her hair behind her ear. "We met through a friend. At first, I didn’t even like him that much. He was annoying."

"Annoying?"

"Very." She admitted.

I laughed. "So how did you end up falling in love with him?"

She smiled to herself. "He kept showing up. Whenever I needed someone, he was there. He didn’t rush me into anything, and eventually I realized I was looking for reasons to see him."

I stared at her smile. "You really love him."

"I do." There was something so certain in the way she said it that I smiled. "I’m happy for you."

"Thank you."

I reached for her hand and squeezed it. "Now I have another question."

She immediately groaned. "I knew there was another one."

I laughed. "Dane."

Her expression changed slightly. "What about him?"

My expression softened. "You know exactly what I’m asking."

She looked down at our joined hands. "I’ve already moved on."

"And if I wanted to be with him?"

She looked at me and smiled. "I’d support you. You know I already do."

I raised my eyebrows. "Since you’re getting married, we should probably have this conversation. You know— since you two were together."

She sighed and leaned back against the headboard. "I guess you’re right. I was angry for a long time, but not because he was a terrible person."

I waited and she continued after a moment. "I was actually the one who wanted to end things first."

I hadn’t expected that. "What?"

Lyra nodded. "I had fallen out of love with him."

I stayed quiet and she looked toward the window. "I didn’t know how to say it without hurting him, so I kept avoiding the conversation. Then one day I ran into someone I used to have a crush on. We talked for a while, and I kissed him."

I frowned. "You kissed another man while you were still with Dane?"

She nodded. "I knew Dane was watching."

I stared at her. "Lyra."

"I know." She rubbed her face. "It was stupid. I wanted him to see it because I wanted him to understand that I was done without having to say it myself. I was angry, confused and honestly behaving like an idiot."

"And he saw?"

She nodded. "He did."

With a frown, I adjusted in my seat. "What happened?"

Her expression turned sober. "He was furious. We argued, and I finally told him I wanted to break up."

I shook my head slowly. "Then why did you make everyone believe he was the one who left you?"

Lyra’s eyes lowered. "Because when I actually walked away, I realized I didn’t feel as relieved as I thought I would."

I softened. "Oh."

"I was devastated," she admitted. "I had convinced myself I didn’t love him anymore, but after we ended, everything felt wrong. I missed him. I missed having him around. I missed knowing that he was mine, and I hated myself for it because I’d been the one who pushed him away."

She swallowed. "Instead of admitting that I had made a mistake, I became bitter. It was easier to tell myself that Dane had hurt me than to admit that I had hurt him first."

I reached over and squeezed her hand. "I’m sorry."

She smiled and nudged my shoulder. "You like Dane, stop worrying about me."

Right.

Lyra smiled at me. "Besides, if you’re going to be with him, you’d better make sure you don’t treat him like I did."

I laughed. "I won’t."

She pointed at me. "And don’t tell him I told you all of this."

I laughed again and crossed my fingers. "Your secret is safe with me."
