Chapter 195: Chapter

Wenzhe didn’t wait for another second. He crossed the room in a blur of motion, his hand shooting out to shove Nine hard against the chest with enough force to send him tumbling backward off the bed.

Yueqing panicked, lunging forward to grab Wenzhe’s wrist and stop him, but Wenzhe looked like an absolute predator ready to tear Nine apart limb by limb. She scrambled off the bed, planting herself directly between them with her arms thrown out to block him from reaching Nine.

"Stop! It doesn’t look like what you think!" Yueqing cried out, her heart hammering against her ribs.

Wenzhe snapped, his chest heaving as he glared down at her. "Then what does it look like?!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls with raw fury. "You are sitting in your private chambers, weeping into the arms of a fresh-faced guard who acts like he owns the place! Tell me what else I am supposed to think!"

[If I tell you that he isn’t even a real human, you won’t believe me... How am I supposed to stop this,] Yueqing’s thoughts went ablaze in sheer panic as she scrambled for an excuse.

Hearing the frantic echo of her internal panic, Wenzhe abruptly froze. The terrifying, murderous aura around him stuttered, his eyes narrowing as he stared down at her face.

"...Not real?" Wenzhe repeated, the words tasting strange on his tongue as a flicker of profound confusion cut through his rage.

Wenzhe didn’t say a word. His hands shot out, gripping her waist with absolute authority. Before she could process what was happening, he hoisted her straight up into the air and deposited her firmly onto the center of the bed.

He leaned in close, caging her in with both arms braced against the mattress, his dark eyes burning straight into hers. There was no warmth in his gaze, only a heavy, unyielding warning.

"Stop playing with fire, Yueqing," Wenzhe murmured, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous growl that left zero room for argument. "I am not joking with you."

Yueqing’s breath hitched in her throat as she stared up at him, the raw intensity in his eyes making her chest tighten.

"I’m not playing with anything," she whispered defensively, though her hands instinctively came up to rest against his chest, feeling the heavy, steady thud of his heartbeat. "He was just... listening to me talk. You didn’t even give us a second to breathe before you came storming in like a thundercloud."

Wenzhe’s jaw tightened, a muscle ticking in his cheek. He didn’t budge an inch.

"A guard has no business holding my wife in his arms," Wenzhe retorted sharply, his voice dropping even lower. "And you have no business letting stray dogs into your quarters while you are still recovering."

He reached up, his large calloused hand gently catching her chin, forcing her to hold his gaze. His thumb brushed just beneath her eye, where the faint, lingering trace of her tears still sat. The anger in his expression faltered for a fraction of a second.

"If I ever find him touching you again," Wenzhe whispered, every single word laced with a lethal, absolute promise, "I will throw him out of this estate myself. Do you understand me?"

Yueqing slapped his hand away and jerked her chin out of his grip, her own temper flaring up to match his. "I don’t need your permission to breathe, Wenzhe, and—"

Wenzhe didn’t let her finish.

"You aren’t going to answer me, huh?" he muttered darkly.

Before she could blink, he swooped down and covered her lips with his, kissing her aggressively.

Yueqing pushed him away with all her strength, gasping for air. "Stop it! Don’t do that, I am still recovering from last night," she snapped, glaring at him as she rubbed her sore lips.

Wenzhe stopped immediately. He looked at her flushed, annoyed face, let out a soft sigh, and sat straight up on the edge of the mattress. Yueqing quickly sat up straight as well, pulling the blanket around herself and crossing her arms with a heavy pout.

Wenzhe watched her for a moment, his fierce anger completely gone. He softened his expression, tilting his head slightly as he looked down at her.

"Are you still hurting?" he asked quietly, his voice finally losing its sharp edge.

Yueqing shot him an annoyed glare, rubbing her sore waist through the blanket. "Yes, it hurts, and you didn’t take pity on me at all, it’s not fair," she snapped, her voice thick with lingering frustration. "You are so annoying. One minute you act like you hate me, and the next minute you’re just kissing me out of nowhere. What exactly is wrong with you?"

Wenzhe went completely still, his jaw tightening as he looked down at her with a cold, unreadable expression.

"I do hate you," Wenzhe said flatly, his voice hard and distant. "I don’t love you anymore. But you are my wife, so I will kiss you whenever I want."

Hearing those words, Yueqing raised a single brow, sheer disbelief and irritation flashing across her face. Oh, is that so?

Without wasting another second, she gathered every ounce of her remaining strength, turned on her side, and planted both feet square against his back. With a hard shove born of pure disgust, she kicked him straight off the edge of the bed.

Wenzhe let out a sharp gasp as he tumbled headfirst onto the floor, hitting the hard wooden planks with a heavy thud and wincing in pain.

"Get out!" Yueqing yelled, grabbing the plush pillow from behind her and hurling it straight at his head.

The pillow caught him square in the shoulder as he pushed himself up from the floor, wincing and rubbing his back. Wenzhe glared up at her, catching the second pillow she threw right out of the air before it could hit his face.

"Have you lost your mind?" Wenzhe growled, tossing the pillow aside as he stood up, towering over the bed.

"No, I haven’t!" Yueqing shot back, pointing angrily toward the door. "You want to stand there and talk garbage about hating me while acting like a possessive maniac? Well, your wife is officially evicting you from her room for the rest of the day. Get out!"
