Grant's POV

Elsewhere...

The chase was already halfway down I-94 when I caught up—sirens wailing, cops boxed out, a yellow school bus barreling through traffic like a runaway tank.

Inside: thirty screaming fourth graders, faces pressed against the glass. Outside: a beat-up Chevy van trying to ram them off the road. And me? Hovering overhead like a golden exclamation point.

"Field trips," I muttered, diving. "Always field trips."

Heat vision sliced through the van's tires—rubber burst, sparks flew, the whole heap skidded sideways into the guardrail. One problem down.

The bus? Still swerving.

I dropped in front of it, boots slamming asphalt hard enough to crater. The bus grille screeched against my chestplate, metal folding like tinfoil. Momentum fought me—forty tons of panic, steel, and squealing brakes. My boots carved trenches in the road. Sweat stung my eyes.

Finally: silence. The bus jolted to a stop, kids tumbling out of seats like popcorn.

Through the windshield, I caught her gaze—the supervising teacher. Early thirties. Hair a mess from screaming at kids. Hands trembling against her seatbelt. But her eyes? Locked on me.

Another save. Another miracle. Another day being the All-Star.

And then it hit—the pulse. The familiar ache that always followed full-power strain. That cursed side effect of heroism: adrenaline mixing with something lower, hungrier. My body buzzing like live wire, my chest heaving. The glow under my skin brighter than it should be.

"All-Star," she whispered as I pried the emergency exit open. Her voice shaky, but not with fear. Gratitude. Awe. Something else.

"You... you saved them. You saved me."

I offered the line, the one every camera eats up: "It's what I do, ma'am."

She bit her lip. "There has to be some way I can repay you."

And here's the tragedy of being Grant Sterling, All-Star: when people offer, I should say no. Smile, shake hands, pose for the photo. Keep the myth intact.

But the pulse doesn't care about myths. The pulse demands release.

Her hand lingered on mine just a moment too long as I helped her down. Her breath hitched. Mine did too.

The kids were still cheering, already climbing out, flooding into the arms of relieved cops. No one looking. No cameras trained this way yet. Just shadows under the overpass, humming with possibility.

From there, she leaned forward, her hand coming up to cup my cheek as she pressed a gentle kiss to your lips.

"My hero," she whispered. I had to return the favor. I placed my hand on her waist, they kiss felt like moments. Just a minute later, I picked her up by the thighs, hormones kicking in.

"All-Star!" she yelled, though I wasn't sure if it was shock or excitement.

"I'm sorry, I-"

"No! No!" she cut me off, still flustered. "I just wasn't expecting this side of you."

The pulse crashed in me again. With little to no time, I whispered, "Well, may I have the honor in showing you, ma'am?"

Her eyes widened.  Her heartbeat was something of an earthquake. Suddenly, there was a darkness in her eyes and grin. The addictive kind that made giving into temptation the only logical thing in the world. Her sultry voice whispered "Well, how could I possibly say no to... the hero that saved the day?"

She's got a point.

Within seconds, I blasted through the roof of the bus and flew us to the nearest skyscraper rooftop.

She wrapped her arms around my neck the way people cling to the last rung of a ladder. Her breath came hot and fast. For a second I could taste diesel and coffee and something sweeter—fear turned into something dangerous and delicious. Up here, away from flashing lights and phones and forty tiny witnesses, the world narrowed to the two of us and the hum behind my ribs.

We didn't talk about it. We didn't have to. She kissed me again—quick, hungry, like she wanted to prove something to herself—and when I answered it felt less like a public figure taking a bow and more like a man who'd been taught to hold back finally letting go. I should have stopped. I wanted to stop. But the pulse is a living thing in me; it wasn't a choice so much as a weather event rolling through my body. It demanded release and, God help me, I obeyed.

"All-Star..." she whispered. Her impatience matched my pulse's, sliding her hands down my crotch. I slid mine under her skirt, from her thigh to her behind. "Mmhmm... how's my ass?"

"Firm," I moaned. "Better with your skirt off."

She titled her head, "That can be arranged." Then stepped back and turned away from me. Slowly bending over, lowering her skirt, giving me a clear view of everything. "See anything you like, All-Star?"

The pulse kicked repeatedly over the show she was putting on. "Two things, yes." I hovered closer to her. So did she, turning towards me. "This'll get messy."

She giggled, then leaned closer to whisper, "Listen here, Golden-Boy. I know that somewhere between your legs is a caged kaiju, wanting to roam and level planets. And today, it's going to destroy two planets behind me and you are getting to pleasure in watching them burn in front of you." Leaning closer.

"And if they that kaiju leaves a mark?"

She groaned, "Then it's its territory."

For a second, I swore the skyline bent around us. Neon lights blurred, the city becoming nothing but shadow and fire. My hand trembled against her waist, not from weakness, but from the storm clawing to be let out.

My focus goes back to her. There she was, on her knees, tracing her fingers in circles around my crotch.

"Well then-"

Before I could finish the sentence, she quickly pulled down my pants, setting the 'kaiju' free. She looked flushed just from the sight of it, panting on it hard.

"Oh God, it's so fucking big," she moaned, wrapping her hands around it. All the teasing was destroying me. My pulse couldn't wait any longer. Within seconds, I grabbed her by the hair and invaded her mouth, going deep down her throat. My pulse took control of my hips, thrusting it back and forth in record speed, while holding her head steady.

Her eyes widened, taking it all in hard and raw. She couldn't speak, she shouldn't. I'll she could and should do hold still while my kaiju brings destruction. My pulse urged me to go faster, so I let go of all control, allowing it to do as it pleased. Until I looked into her face and saw a canvas of a mess: tears running down and ruining her eyelashes, her nose running, her mouth foaming, her lipstick covered and dripping in her saliva. The gags? The choking? Also hard to miss. Immediately, I pulled back, letting her breathe.

"W-why... Why... Did... You stop?" she asked, then coughed.

"You're choking. And your makeup is half ruined." I lifted her chin.

She wasn't having it. She jumped on it again, pumping it with both hands.

"Just shut up and put that gorgeous monster in my fucking sloppy tunnel!" She forced herself back in, both her hands and... Well, mouth into play. Impressive.

"I... uuggh... might... hurt-"

"Yes!" she cut me off. "Fucking hurt me some more."

I widened my eyes, scared, yet aroused. Whether at someone showing me how my dark side could be used for a cause, or just a damsel-in-distress taking charge and not the hero.

"Remember what I said last time," she continued. "This kaiju is as starving as I am and we gonna feed each other. So stop pretending you're above all else and fucking invade every inch of me like I'm your fucking property to damage."

My heart was racing. I felt my face cracking a wide hungry grin. The pulse is now the becoming. 'Say less,' I thought, forcing the 'kaiju' back into her... (cough) 'sloppy tunnel'. I thrusted my pelvis, harder, faster. At the moment, I couldn't be bothered care if they practice was safe, I had a pulse that needs to be taken care of. And I'm someone willingly letting me use her as the pulse's outlet.

Suddenly, the 'kaiju' arrived, flooding the tunnel with a wave load. I moaned, still arriving with a tsunami. Then the third. Then the fourth. Then the fifth.

Slowly, I pulled away from the tunnel, letting out a sigh of relief. I looked at her, she was holding the load with her cheek, then swallowed. She let out a sigh of refreshed, then coughed out residue.
