Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor

Chapter 118: Adrian’s Return To The Academy

Adrian entered his car and told the driver to take him to the academy. The driver began driving through the city, while Adrian looked outside the window at the skyscrapers, neighborhoods, roads, and other infrastructure that would one day become his own. Everything out there was Kingsley territory, and as the next heir, he would control it all one day, but for now, it was still his father’s.

How much longer did his father have to live anyway?

Adrian couldn’t wait, but he knew he had to be patient.

There were a lot of things he had to learn before he could take his father’s place, so rushing things would make him look like he was unworthy of this position.

Adrian looked at the ring on his finger. It was silver, ornated, and had sparkling gems around the girth.

It was a Diamond-tier ring with a disclosed system.

A disclosed system means Adrian couldn’t see anything on the ring’s status except its tier: Diamond.

The ability of the ring would remain unknown until the user activates it. But since it’s Diamond-tier, anyone would be careful because it could be for the better or for the worse.

This ring had been passed down from one Kingsley heir to the next.

The Kingsleys kept it as a family heirloom because its mystery was part of its charm. Nobody knew what power it held until it was activated. Ambiguity itself was a form of power.

Now, it belonged to Adrian, not Luke, who was the original heir.

Adrian adjusted the ring with swagger as the academy’s gates came into view, and the car rolled inside.

In the school, everyone noticed the expensive car entering the compound. It was sleek and quiet like a spider, with the word KINGSLEY written where the license plate should have been.

Many juniors were confused.

Wasn’t this Adrian Kingsley’s car?

But Adrian Kingsley was suspended, wasn’t he?

The same car didn’t park in the parking lot, but continued to drive until it reached the biggest statue in the academy, the statue of Montclair’s founder.

Meanwhile, five students were sitting at the base of the statue. They were Jax, Leo, Mark, Chloe, and Miquelon. When they saw the approaching car, they stood up while the door opened and Adrian stepped out.

His uniform was impeccable, and every angle defined royalty. Seeing Adrian confident again brought smiles to Miquelon and co., because it reminded them of the last time they were together.

After all, all of them had been suspended together, but now they were reunited.

"So what do we do now?" Chloe asked. "We’re far behind everyone else on the leaderboard. Do we even have a chance, or are we going to be eliminated?"

"Don’t worry, Chloe. We’ll be right back in the competition by the end of today," Adrian said. "All we have to do is get our drones and find some zones. We have our 100x multiplier checked."

Miquelon stretched and yawned.

"Damn, it feels good to be back. I hope the ladies didn’t miss me. I can’t believe I got the same punishment as you guys. All I did was cast a spell, and now I’ve lost my punctuality streak. Who do you guys think will win Early Bird this term?"

"Is that what you’re thinking about right now?" Chloe asked. "That failure, Luke, is at the top of the Trials with half a million points, and you’re worried about Early Bird?"

"Actually, he spent his points, so he’s at 250k now, but I get what you mean."

"Do you think he’s in the academy now?" Jax asked. "If he is, should we confront him? He broke my ribs, and I mean to make him answer for that."

"Whether he’s here or not, we’re not here for him," Adrian said as he started walking toward the management building. "For now, at least."

*********

Adrian and his team were the last students expected to be in this building. This place is a dignified agency and home to the workplace of a hundred staff responsible for the success of the academy. It shouldn’t be sullied by their presence.

Wherever hallway they found themselves in, staff stared at them suspiciously and whispered behind their backs.

"Is that not Adrian Kingsley? I thought he was suspended after almost killing his half-brother?"

A female clerk was gossiping about them while acting as if she was updating staff rosters. Her colleague gossiped with her too.

"Yes, even those underlings following him. They shouldn’t be in the academy."

"Haven’t you heard?" another colleague whispered. "The Duchess came to the academy and lifted their suspension! That’s part of the reason Ms. Claris was put on leave!"

"Gasp" x2

The shock couldn’t be suppressed. Hearing that the Duchess herself had come to the academy to rescue her son sparked different reactions and narratives. But the most popular narrative was: corruption.

Many workers say that the Kingsleys couldn’t bear their son being excluded from the Trials, so they intervened to bring him back.

And since Principal Claris wouldn’t stand for such hogwash, they removed her from her seat temporarily, eliminating anything that hindered them.

"How shameless!" one worker cussed, but he ensured he was quiet. Saying something of that fashion when the heir to the city walked past could have his tongue.

Shortly, Adrian’s group arrived at the secretary’s office and asked to see the Vice Principal.

The secretary was Brenda, originally Claris’s secretary. She was unaware that Adrian’s suspension had been lifted, so he was still on the blacklist of students she shouldn’t attend to.

By the rules, she should call security to drag out these teenagers and arrange a memo for extra punishment.

But Adrian didn’t let her.

For her sake. Not his.

"Just call the VP, Miss Brenda," Adrian said, his hand on her hand on the security telephone.

Out of fear, Brenda called the Vice Principal on the other telephone and informed him about Adrian and his group who wanted to see him.

To her surprise, the Vice Principal answered her earnestly as if he’d been waiting for their arrival.

"Yes, Adrian Kingsley? Let him in with his friends. And Brenda, I forgot to tell you. Claris is gone for now, and so is her authority. Any decision she made remains in effect until I say otherwise, and I tell you now that Adrian and his friends are no longer suspended. Understood?"

Brenda swallowed, saying, "Yes, sir."

Adrian and his team laughed at her mockingly for trying to be a hero as they walked to the VP’s office.

While Brenda watched them go, she knew something wrong was going on from the inside-out of the academy, starting from when the Duchess set foot in this building.
