Kindness and cruelty. Two parallels.
Luke couldn’t figure out the connection yet, but there had to be one.
That is why the earlier, the better. Of what good is he as a summoner if he can’t take his summons to their best?
After telling her his plan, Seraphina showed enthusiasm to cooperate.
Her enthusiasm made Luke realize that she didn’t want to fight as he assumed. Seraphina just wanted to be involved in his activities.
Whether it was fighting monsters or not fighting monsters, she just wanted to follow his instructions and lend a hand where needed.
And this time, he was giving her something cool to do. She could observe humans up close, maybe interact with them, and learn how their relationships worked—which satisfies Condition 1 of her Potential.
"For kindness, look at people helping strangers, parents with their children, and friends helping each other. For cruelty, watch bullies, people who abuse those weaker than them, and people who betray or exploit others.
I know you won’t see everything in this park. But it’s a start."
Serpahina nodded and began walking away, but Luke stopped her for some adjustments.
She couldn’t go around the park looking like that, barefoot and dressed like an angel, while spying on people with a face that would attract attention everywhere she went. Someone would notice her before she even had a chance to observe them.
"Seraphina. What do you have to say for yourself?"
Seraphina scratched her head as she thought about how to hide her alien appearance, and then she got an idea, saying, "Yes. I can turn into a butterfly, and no one would know."
"That’s great, Seraphina, but choose a bird instead," Luke said. "Someone might decide to catch a butterfly, but no one bothers birds."
Seraphina nodded, looked at a bird, and then transformed into it. She fluttered around Luke for a while like a golden fig branch before flying to the nearest people, ready to see if an act of kindness or cruelty was taking place.
Fortunately, Seraphina didn’t have to search for long as she encountered a woman having a picnic with her children.
Everything looked normal at first as the children played around the blanket, but two children were sharing a toy when the woman separated them, gave the toy to one child, and slapped the other child’s hand when he tried to take it back.
The child was the woman’s stepson, and she treated him differently from the others, giving more kindness to her own children while being harsher to the one who wasn’t hers.
Seraphina felt sad as she watched from the tree, and she didn’t need anyone to tell her that it was cruelty she witnessed. So, she fluttered away to the next people, but she wasn’t sure she was ready for everything she might see.
Luke got busy immediately after Seraphina left.
His Soul was at C-rank now, so their Tether wouldn’t break since they were in the same vicinity. It was a reasonable distance.
To get to the monsters underneath the park, Luke did not follow the origin point because the origin point was very exposed to the public. So, he used a footbridge, but walked under the footbridge instead of crossing it.
This opened him to a passage running beneath the park, and he walked to the origin point until the sounds of the people above became distant.
〖Beware! You have found a Blue Monster Zone: Hidden Drainage Passage!〗
Luke was aware this would be an easy zone because the Comprehensive Index showed only two phases, seventy monsters in total, and a Hobgoblin as the final boss—nothing compared to the nightmares he had fought before.
However, Luke wanted to be cautious nevertheless because the location of this zone was jeopardising.
Since it was underneath a park, making too much noise would panic the public, and inflicting damage could endanger lives above this passage.
"Your lucky day, you hideous goblins," Luke said as he stopped walking. "I’ll take it easy on you."
The goblins were surprised that someone had found their hideout, so they attacked him to ensure he’d be the first and last to.
All Luke had to do was punch. He didn’t need a skill from his armors to slay goblins!
With his Hell Ape Gauntlet and his spear, he laid waste to the first group that rushed at him.
Swinging his spear sideways, Luke ripped another goblin while parrying an axe that was going for his shoulder. For the goblin that was close to getting him, he pushed his fingers into its skin and pulled out its intestines like they were just tailor’s thread.
Luke killed another goblin that tried to attack him from behind by turning around and driving his spear through its skull before pulling the weapon free and stabbing the next one in the throat.
When two more rushed him together, he punched one into the other and followed with another spear thrust that pierced both of them, leaving the remaining goblins to scatter because they realized that their numbers meant nothing against him.
"They’re barely worth the Flame..."
"Hey, come back here!" Luke muttered as he chased them down.
He killed the fleeing monsters one after another, keeping his attacks focused on his spear and gauntlet because his stronger armor abilities would create too much destruction in such a confined space.
There was no reason to damage the underground structure or let the people above hear explosions and crashing rocks when his physical strength was more than enough.
The first phase ended after thirty-four goblins were defeated, and Luke advanced, finding the second group camping in a bigger chamber.
One goblin had escaped Luke and came to warn these ones about the intruder. So, when Luke arrived, they were standing with their crude weapons, waiting for him.
Luke let his eyes comb their numbers and the pitiful camp they made under the park.
It was so filthy that he had to use his sabatons to glide over it.
His feat of gliding told the goblins all they had to know. Today was their end.
"Arfuejsifhi!" they cried, attacking fruitlessly.
Soon, all became Flame because Luke showed no grace.
The final monsters were stronger than the ones from the first phase, but still not enough to make Luke use anything beyond his basic gear, and he killed the last few with quick punches and spear thrusts before the system confirmed that only the boss remained.
Luke entered the boss chamber and found the Hobgoblin waiting with a large club in its hands.
As expected, its body was bigger than the other goblins, and its muscles were thick enough to spell danger. It could even talk fluently, but Luke didn’t take it seriously.
The Hobgoblin sought its pride in the fight, only to meet a silent boss chamber and a spear already in its chest.
Luke pulled the weapon free and watched the monster collapse onto the ground.
No pride for it. Just an early grave.

Luke looked at the notification before glancing at the ceiling because his token notifications followed after.
