Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor

Chapter 97: TA| Wanted Criminal [III]

IN THE TRUMP ESTATE...

While Luke was in the Bureau’s HQ, Scarlett returned home angry.

Once her ride stopped, she stepped out and searched for the hunters who had separated Luke from the rest of them. But they were gone. So, she turned her anger to the hunters who escorted her, asking for their names as if she was going to do something bad to them.

"My lady, it was a matter of—"

Scarlett pushed the speaker aside without even looking at him and walked into the mansion.

After spending the whole day fighting monsters and now watching Luke taken away, the last thing she wanted was an explanation.

Some servants hurried after her as she climbed the steps very quickly to report to her father. She was so angry about Luke’s capture that she didn’t want to listen to anyone, including the servants trying to tell her that the President wasn’t around.

Scarlett found out by finding an empty office.

"...Where is Father?" she asked.

"He hasn’t returned yet, my lady," a servant answered.

"Then who’s in the estate I can speak to?"

"Your aunt, Lady Brienne."

...

Scarlett met her aunt as quickly as she could.

Brienne was a ravishing, seductive woman. She had golden hair, and she always dressed in red. When she saw her niece, she smiled because she was relieved.

"There you are. Your father almost turned the city upside down looking for you. When they said you hadn’t returned after curfew, he asked me to watch over the search until he returned from his embassy."

Scarlett didn’t care about those details; all she cared about were the outcomes they brought. And Luke behind bars was one of them.

"The hunters you sent abducted my classmate, Luke Kingsely. What do you have to say about that?"

Brienne, sipping wine, dropped the glass in wonder.

"You’ve just come back safely, and that’s the first thing you tell me?" she asked.

"He’s my teammate in the Trials, and they took him to the Bureau," Scarlett replied, her face hard with frustration and also soiled with dirt. "They separated him from us, and they lied about taking us back to the academy."

Brienne stared at Scarlett for a while because she didn’t believe the rumors were true. How could her niece care that much about the Kingsleys’ ex-heir? Wasn’t that boy supposed to be out of her life the day he awakened a piece of metal?

Brienne was a woman with a mind that only knew power, which was why she thought this way.

When her niece awakened a phoenix, she wasn’t just happy like the other family members. She was proud.

Brienne was a Lv. 150 Elder-grade summoner, while her brother, the President, was an Ancient-grade summoner. Scarlett’s late mother had also been an Ancient-grade summoner, and her uncle was an Elder-grade summoner.

Their summons were beasts like a Manticore, Sphinx, Wyvern, Basilisk, and now Scarlett had added a Phoenix to this elite family.

With all this prestige running in their veins, why should she limit herself by marrying a failure who summoned a metal glove? Brienne wanted the best for her niece.

"Luke Kingsley, is it?" she said, rising to her feet as her red robes graced the rug. "Scarlett dear, I’m more interested in the fact you’re standing here unharmed, but I also have to tell you that boy is no longer your concern.

He has no beast. He’s a failure. Whatever trouble he’s involved in has nothing to do with you."

Brienne walked and tried to touch Scarlett after such a dangerous day, but Scarlett refused to be embraced.

If she had known her own aunt would be so inert about this and also call Luke a failure, then she shouldn’t have asked for help in the first place. There was no need to continue the conversation or explain that Luke wasn’t a failure, so she turned and walked away, leaving her aunt calling her name in vain.

If nobody in the estate wanted to help Luke, then she would find a way to deal with the matter herself.

...

Scarlett got to her room and called Vivian.

Vivian was also searching for a way to help Luke, but she was helpless. She was in enemy territory, and the Bureau wasn’t somewhere she could walk to and make demands.

Scarlett was no less worried, but she had a plan this time. Since her family wouldn’t help, she’d use another. So, she asked Vivian for Lucy’s number.

When Lucy’s tender voice answered, Scarlett was relieved because it was very late. It seemed everyone was awake, thinking about everything that had happened.

Meanwhile—

〖Current Era: Invertebrates〗

〖Your Astral Tortoiseling has evolved to Shell Slug!〗

〖Primitive Snail | Trilobite | Horseshoe | Sea Scorpion | Primitive Crab〗

〖Current Form: Primitive Crab〗

〖Elapsed Time: 101,000,000 Years〗

〖Congratulations! Your Astral Tortoiseling has acquired the skill: Harden!〗

Luke was about to doze off when the notifications woke him again. He rubbed his eyes twice because he thought he was seeing things, but the time didn’t change. 100M years...

"I hope he hasn’t gone mad. That must be the purpose of the skill, Eternal Sanity."

No one can live over a hundred million years and remain mentally stable. That skill helped Amigo ignore what didn’t matter and focus only on cultivating, no matter how much time passed.

Luke wondered what that would do to Amigo’s personality when he returned.

Surely a life across one hundred million years had to change someone.

Would Amigo have a patient personality? Calm and collected? Would he stop caring about trivial things? Would he lose his cuteness that Luke cherished?

Luke also checked the new skill.

〖Skill: Harden〗

〖Description: Recreates the shells and exoskeletons of past evolutions to adapt its defense against different threats.〗

This defense skill was more than what the eyes saw.

Amigo had lived as multiple forms, and every form had a different type of shell or exoskeleton. Harden allowed him to recreate whichever one best suited the threat he was facing.

Luke couldn’t help admitting that his turtle was becoming something else, and he was looking forward to continuing their adventures in the workshop.

His thoughts ended when High General Oswald walked back into the interrogation room.

This time, Oswald didn’t look angry or frustrated, he looked satisfied and notorious. What could he know that Luke didn’t?

"You’re being bailed," the general said. "You’re free to go."

Luke couldn’t hide his surprise. Bailed? Free to go? Then why did the man look so pleased about it?

He stood up and followed the High General out of the interrogation room, but he was concerned about where he was going.

"May I ask who posted my bail?"

Luke expected Oswald to ignore him, but the man grinned for a change, saying, "Trust me... you’d have preferred staying here."

Suddenly, being released didn’t sound nice to Luke.
