Chloe Reed shot to her feet, pointing at the man outside the window. "Gra—!"

"What’s wrong? What’s going on?!" Fiona Linton was startled by her reaction and quickly got up to look.

By the time Chloe Reed rushed outside and looked up again, the figure she’d seen was nowhere in sight.

She looked all around. The streets were bustling with traffic and crowds, but she couldn’t find a trace of that figure.

’What was going on?’

’Was I hallucinating in broad daylight?’

"Chloe, why did you suddenly run out like that?" Fiona Linton followed her out, looking completely baffled.

Chloe Reed’s lips pressed into a thin line. She checked the spot where she had seen the man one more time, then took Fiona Linton’s hand and walked back inside.

After sitting down, she took out her phone and began to type. A cold, electronic female voice sounded out, "I just saw someone who looked a lot like Julian Grant."

Fiona Linton blinked in confusion. "Isn’t Julian Grant Walker Grant’s older brother who passed away?"

During her time living at Jardinelle, she had already figured out the relationships in the Grant family.

Chloe Reed nodded, letting out a soft sigh before she continued to type, "Yeah, he passed away. I must have been seeing things."

Just then, Annie York came over with two milk teas, placed them on their table, and sat down. "Why did you suddenly rush out just now? Did something happen?"

Chloe Reed shook her head and typed, "No, I just thought I saw someone I knew, but my eyes were playing tricks on me. I was mistaken."

Annie York nodded and smiled shyly, her eyes shining as she looked at her. "Chloe, it’s my birthday the day after tomorrow. I’m planning on cooking a simple meal at home. Would you be able to come?"

The hope in her eyes was unmistakable.

Chloe Reed was a little surprised, then nodded as her fingers flew across the keyboard. "I’ll definitely be there. Send me your address."

Annie York was delighted. "Okay, I’ll send it to you right now. Chloe, I’m so happy you can come."

Chloe Reed’s lips curved into a gentle smile.

At that moment, a customer arrived, and Annie York got up to tend to them. Fiona Linton took a couple of sips of her milk tea. "This is pretty good. I like it."

Chloe Reed picked up her milk tea and gestured toward the door, signaling that they should leave.

Fiona Linton nodded, and the two of them got up and left together.

They shopped until evening, when Fiona Linton’s phone rang. She pulled it out, glanced at the screen, and raised an eyebrow. "Heh, it’s Grant the Scumbag."

Chloe Reed looked over just in time to see her answer the call. "Hello? What is it?"

Walker Grant’s voice came through, flat and toneless. "Put me on speaker."

Fiona Linton scoffed. "This is my phone. Why should I do what you tell me to?"

Walker Grant’s tone was nonchalant. "Five hundred thousand."

Fiona Linton: "...Immediately!"

’Damn capitalist!’

’Always using money to tempt me into doing his bidding!’

She cursed him internally while putting the phone on speaker and raising her eyebrows at Chloe Reed.

"Yes?"

Chloe Reed uttered a single syllable. With practice, it was even more fluent than before.

Walker Grant’s tone immediately softened. "Chloe, are you coming home for dinner tonight?"

Listening from the side, Fiona Linton curled her lip, silently mouthing Walker Grant’s words before recoiling as if she’d grossed herself out.

"No."

Chloe Reed replied with that single word, then hung up.

Fiona Linton clicked her tongue. "He’s so clingy. It’s completely unbearable."
