Seeing this, the maid felt utterly speechless. She couldn’t understand why Iris Yates was still unsatisfied when Mr. Gallagher doted on her so much and gave her the best of everything. She wondered why Iris always defied him and insisted on doing such dirty work. It seemed the woman was simply not destined to enjoy a life of wealth and luxury!

Although the maid grumbled extensively in her heart, she didn’t dare show any disrespect on her face. She turned and left the pet room, washing her hands of the matter entirely.

After Iris scooped Mimi’s litter box, she washed her hands and replenished the cat’s food and water. She then cradled Mimi in her lap to trim its nails. Mimi was incredibly well-behaved and obedient, not fussing at all during the trim, and even gave off a happy PURR in her arms.

The corners of Iris’s lips remained turned up. She stroked the adorable Mimi gently, feeling like she finally had something to look forward to in life.

After breakfast, she stepped out of the castle and strolled around the outer gardens. Her gaze soon fell upon the small grove of trees again.

She wondered what kind of secret could possibly be hidden in there.

She walked toward it once more, but this time, several bodyguards blocked the only path.

"I’m sorry, Ms. Yates, but you cannot enter this area," one of the bodyguards said. "Mr. Gallagher has specifically instructed us that if you insist on going in, we are authorized to forcefully lock you in your room."

Hearing this, Iris’s expression darkened.

She knew there had to be a secret! And it was a secret she wasn’t allowed to know! Otherwise, they wouldn’t be guarding against her like this. Looking at the distant grove, her curiosity reached its peak. She absolutely had to find out what was inside.

It seemed she would have to create a little accident!

Iris didn’t try to force her way in. She simply turned around and left, causing the bodyguards to heave immediate sighs of relief. How could they ever dare to lay a hand on Mr. Gallagher’s woman? If they so much as touched her, they would lose their lives! They were merely trying to scare her, but fortunately, the intimidation had worked.

Iris returned to the castle. As she played with Mimi in her arms, she pondered how she could get into that grove. Her gaze casually swept over the fireplace, and her eyes suddenly lit up.

Nyx gradually shrouded the island. The massive castle shone exceptionally bright, looking as exquisitely beautiful as a scene from a fairy tale.

Iris locked her bedroom door tightly. She gathered the curtains, bedsheets, duvet covers, clothes, and an array of other flammable items into a pile in the center of the room. Taking out a lighter, she set them ablaze.

The flames gradually expanded. The carpet in the room was also highly flammable. She stood a short distance away, watching the scene unfold with a strange gleam flickering in her eyes. She slipped on the maid uniform she had prepared earlier, messed up her hair, and hid in the corner.

The fire grew larger and larger, triggering the room’s smoke detector. A sharp, ear-piercing alarm rang out through the entire castle.

It wasn’t long before someone discovered the fire. People rushed over to extinguish it, only to find the door locked from the inside.

"Hurry, go find the key! Ms. Yates is still inside!"

"We have to save her! If anything happens to her, Mr. Gallagher will definitely throw us into the ocean to feed the sharks!"

THUD! THUD!

People were violently slamming against the door while others frantically shouted Iris’s name. In just that short span of time, the room had already become heavily engulfed in thick smoke.

The solid door was simply too sturdy; no matter how hard they kicked or rammed it, it wouldn’t budge. They finally managed to find the key and unlock it. The moment the door swung open, the flames burst outward. The bodyguards standing at the very front were knocked back by the fiery blast, their faces instantly blackened by the soot.

Dodging the surging fire, they hastily rushed inside and began searching for Iris.
