Chapter 1253: Chapter 686: 2

But it has to be said that Lance’s remark of "fairness" caused Amanda and the others to abandon their pursuit, giving Audrey a break from Amanda’s sarcastic accusations.

Oddly enough, Amanda, whom Audrey finds even more distasteful, attracted most of the hatred, even though it was Lance who threatened her, she now thinks the Lord is a good person.

Her understanding is that whoever stands on her side is a good person, and since the Lord stopped Amanda from attacking her, he’s speaking on her behalf. There’s nothing wrong with this logic, right?

The real reason for this mindset is that she needs the Lord’s "protection" to survive Amanda’s constant "attacks," so the Lord can’t be a bad person.

This inexplicable relationship was defined by Audrey herself, but Lance has never cared about such things.

His gaze only focuses ahead.

The team continued down the corridor, but shortly after, they stumbled upon a very eerie scene, making everyone instantly alert.

It was a group of cultists, roughly retaining human form, but their flesh had mutated severely, with only a few rags covering them, leaving much of their bodies exposed.

Their bodies looked like a common sight under extreme mutation, as if their skin had peeled off, muscles dissolved and rotted, even exposing bones, and thick blood vessels twisted around their physiques like ropes.

What’s even stranger is the large tumors attached to them, composed of flesh, blood vessels, and black eyeballs twisted together, merging with the flesh as if they were part of the body.

These frenzied beings had no hair, their faces bore hollow eyes and bizarre, maniacal smiles.

At this moment, they kneeled on the ground, hands clasped and raised high, as if in pilgrimage, facing the depths of the dungeon.

Frenzied Cultist!

Not all cultists can become Heretic Priests; these are devout enough but haven’t completely mastered the great blessing power, wandering the dungeon and tirelessly engaging in pilgrimage day after day.

What’s inexplicable is that the team’s arrival didn’t even disturb them?

Or rather, it’s that they simply don’t care about Lance and his group.

There’s no sign they’re going to rise and attack, they’re just continuing their worship as if nothing else matters in the world.

These Frenzied Cultists appeared to number around a dozen, blocking the corridor, and Lance wouldn’t show any politeness.

"Take them out!"

Lance rushed forward first, swinging his blade and directly decapitating one of the Frenzied Cultists, swiftly executing the sacrifice without allowing any chance to eliminate it.

Exterminate!

To make up for her previous hesitation, Audrey quickly followed Lance into the attack.

Though she’s a woman, she strikes with fierce brutality, swinging an iron pickaxe straight at a Frenzied Cultist’s head, the tip entering through the top and smashing a hefty piece of the skull.

With such force, anyone might have thought she was hitting Amanda.

The commotion finally startled the Frenzied Cultists, yet strangely they showed no intention of retaliation, instead standing up, raising their arms towards Lance and the others and emitting eerie, spine-chilling laughter.

This creepy scene instinctively made Audrey want to back away, retreating a few steps and shouting, "Damn it! What’s this thing?"

The absurdity increased when some cultists began biting their own arms, actually tearing off chunks of flesh into their mouths, blood oozing from their corners alongside frantic laughter.

Flesh fusion!

The bizarre power seemed to stir the blood mist, then Audrey noticed the cultist whose head she broke with the pick hadn’t died.

With visible speed, flesh proliferated over the wound blown by the pick, filling in before shakingly standing back up, twisting their bodies like seaweed with the same eerie laughter as the others.

This scene was unable to frighten a true warrior; Boudica and Amanda also rushed into battle.

While the Frenzied Cultists raised their arms and forcefully clasped them together, a peculiar power linked them.

Wall of flesh!

Ax and spear hacked against those Cultists, creating exaggerated wounds, with sharp whips ripping wounds causing incessant bleeding.

However, these wounds didn’t appear on the target but transferred to those involved in the Protection Ritual.

Though completely incapable of counterattacking, those blocking the way would feed their companions by biting off their own flesh.

To them, flesh wounds seemed nonexistent, swiftly recovering and still standing, blocking the path like an impenetrable wall of flesh guarding their deity.

"Focus on one, use Corpse Decomposition Spore; their tumors are the weakness."

Unfortunately for them, their enemy is Lance, who quickly identified the weakness of the Frenzied Cultists in the brief exchange.

He cleaved one tumor apart per strike, following with sacrifice, directly slaying them whether guarded or not.

Victory is based on informational advantage, knowing your enemies leads to innumerable ways to win.

After hearing Lance, Amanda threw her Flying Dagger, precisely targeting the tumor full of black eyeballs, the force of the strike weakening their resilient bodies.

Boudica needed no command to understand what to do, smearing spores on the ax and spear, then fiercely attacking the target marked by Flying Dagger, cutting with the spore-tainted blade without allowing any chance for restoration.
