Chapter 1258: Chapter 688: 4_2

The axe blade with Corpse Decomposition Spore will drain the last bit of life without a blood pack; those festering wounds are truly unbecoming.

The battle is over, and everyone’s condition is still acceptable, thanks to Lance’s multiple Blesses.

Only Amanda, who was affected by sorcery earlier, is not in good shape. That anomaly, even Bless, finds hard to eliminate; it’s psychological pressure.

"At the time, I felt like something was watching me, then my brain felt a sharp pain, and my emotions spiraled out of control..."

Amanda briefly explained the situation, such words could help others roughly understand the harm they’ve suffered; prepared for such an attack or not makes a big difference.

"It’s alright, holding steadfast to your beliefs can resist the evil’s corruption."

Lance comforted with some mystical words.

But there are indeed many cases like this; during the investigation of those soldiers, quite a few successfully resisted the sorcery.

The power of human will is something no one has fully unlocked yet.

After slightly adjusting the team, they ventured deeper; though the surroundings vary, it’s mostly twisted statues or bizarre creations.

Unchanging are the flowing blood and the wandering cultists.

No matter the combination, it’s hard to escape the few types encountered before.

Under Lance’s lead, they quickly adapted to the combat rhythm; though not easy, the risk was tactically controlled within a certain range.

On sight of enemies, it’s always first to eliminate Sect of Ascension Witches among spellcasters, then it’s Frenzied Cultists, those blood pack guards, while Sect of Ascension Priests and Heretic Priests with better melee ability are easier to solve.

Because these are usually blocked by Lance and Boudica, providing output space for the other two.

Following this tempo, they can handle most situations, but they overlooked some extreme cases.

Until they encountered three Heretic Priests, and the battle was imminent.

The swift speed was hard for the average person to match; more troublesome was these entities having no clear weaknesses, and their attacks were exceptionally fierce with a strange power.

Amanda and Audrey were very agile, even if unable to win, they could still tangle.

But for Boudica, facing them was very dangerous, during the clash, the deep stab pierced her body, heart and lungs ripped by bone spurs.

One hit was critical, directly near death, what kind of concept is that?

If Lance’s Flesh Reconstruction had been any later, she’d be gone.

Yet such severe injuries demanded his diversion to control the flesh healing the grotesque wounds, resulting in himself being injured by another priest.

The spine bone spur aimed at his head was dodged by a head tilt, but swung down intensely; the tip as a bone blade sliced his clothes from shoulder to chest, leaving a mark.

In such a chaotic scene, Lance immediately shouted.

"Wang Cai!"

In the red haze, Wang Cai’s appearance became more pronounced, directly tearing through that space, appearing as if riding clouds and mist, embraced by the red fog.

Without hesitation, it rushed towards the priests ahead, gaining time for Lance.

In the past, Wang Cai easily crushed them, for it could tear souls, ignored the physical armor, causing true damage.

And besides spellcasters, few among the enemies had means to harm it.

Yet these priests clearly weren’t among them, wielding soul-ripping weapons all over.

Facing Wang Cai’s pouncing bite, the priest swung and the tendrils knocked it away.

This feeling didn’t instill fear in Wang Cai; instead, it ignited the wildness etched in its soul that would persist beyond the flesh.

In the next approach, the priest flung the tendrils again; Wang Cai initially didn’t react as it thought no contact would occur, but now it bit with Wolf Fang, the forceful motion even dragged the priest.

Having not felt such solid contact for a long time, it heightened Wang Cai’s excitement...

On the other side, Lance focused on Boudica’s wound, with heart and lungs regenerating, flesh mending, the near-death Boudica suddenly coughed heavily, expelling large amounts of shredded meat and blood.

During the restoration, Amanda desperately kept the priest who injured Boudica from delivering another blow.

Audrey was also forced to handle a priest’s pulling, fortunately, Lance, freed, joined the battle with a blade.

Pierced with several flying daggers and torn with whip marks left, the priest’s actions slowed due to this weakening, facing Lance now would be fatal.

Others find it difficult to kill the priests, as these creatures have no definite weakness, and also possess the regenerative abilities of cultists; to eliminate them, one must deplete their vitality.

But Lance doesn’t require such a method, a few cuts to knock out their consciousness is enough, and the void will assist him with the rest.

The Void Devourer arrives, resists futile.

Amanda was injured trying to stop the priest as well, the sharp tentacle whip directly tearing her clothes, a large swath of flesh on her shoulder ripped, bleeding profusely, rendering an arm useless, accompanied by damage to the chest; too excessive sometimes affects combat.

Witnessing this, Lance’s expression involuntarily tensed, fury rising in his heart.

Damn it, you attack even this! Any humanity left?

"It’s okay, it’s okay..." Lance reassured while performing Flesh Reconstruction.

Such simple injuries, not involving internal organs, were relatively easy to heal, leaving no scars.

But the battle hadn’t subsided, Lance could only turn to Audrey to deal with another.

Against such formidable creatures, even if she didn’t need to protect another, she was still injured, until Lance intervened and quickly cut down the priest, rescuing her.

"Are you okay?"

Lance inquired, Audrey was about to speak but felt the rapid regrowth and healing of her tentacle-scraped arm, pain quickly relieved; observing the recovered wound, she even suspected she might have imagined it just now.

"Hold this." Lance tossed something to her.

She’s surprised to find it was the Touching Gold Talisman, one of her most crucial items that had been taken previously, now returned.

"Don’t overthink, just borrowing it for you to use; inadequate strength here could be fatal."

Seeing her joyous appearance, Lance added a simple explanation to dispel her unrealistic thoughts.

In response, Audrey could only silently wear it; regardless, this equipment’s power gave her more confidence to survive.

On another front, Wang Cai’s battle also concluded, the priest was brutally torn into pieces, showcasing savagery.

Amusingly, Wang Cai’s spiritual body similarly lacked a weakness, priests’ most potent "One Yang Finger" poked it, could smash the wolf head, but the next second would gather again, merely losing some spiritual body.

But who’s backing Wang Cai?

Would he care?

With the battle ending, everyone displayed exhaustion accumlated from fighting their way; not a simple Bless could release.

Even Lance showed signs not quite right, stable yet heavy expressions revealing.

"Endure a bit longer, we’ll rest ahead."

The team continued for a while, crossing the portal into a room, relieved that there were no enemies inside, despite the grotesque statues, they were ignored for now.

Lance took out various items for camp, as the fire ignited, a strange feeling of safety nearly instinctual spread among them.

Everyone sat around the campfire, looking even more fatigued upon relaxing, even the usually energetic Boudica sat on a stool, hands gripping her axe, listlessly urging.

"Boss, is it ready yet..."

"Almost there, hang on."

Though their energy was depleted, Lance didn’t just settle for some dried food; everything else could be skimped on, but food had to be provided.

[Lord’s feast -30 pressure!]
