Chapter 1279: Chapter 699: Undercurrents Surging
The Limping Walker, chosen by the ancestor to suppress those far surpassing Legendary strength, indicates the immense power contained within.
The precious knowledge recorded on the scroll requires a lot of time and research to transform, but its more practical aspect is the ability to strengthen the holder’s capabilities.
If Lance uses this equipment to perform Flesh Reconstruction, he can consume less Spiritual Essence and achieve better results.
The enhancement is approximately forty percent, which is quite impressive even for single-target effects.
If applied to large-scale treatment like for an army, it becomes even more terrifying, meaning that originally spending one hundred units of Spiritual Essence could save one hundred people, now one hundred units save twenty-five more.
The same applies to using Enchanting Voice to motivate them, as the impact becomes significantly stronger.
However, the equipment’s ability is limited to spell type, and cannot purely strengthen all aspects of spellcasting; it is likely related to the recorded aspects of life and soul.
But these limitations are insignificant compared to its powerful effects, no wonder it’s considered precious.
Next comes the exquisite map, which when spread out makes Lance’s eyes light up, his joy unmistakable.
As for why Lance values it so much?
Because unlike most of the reconnaissance hand-drawn and pieced-together maps he currently has, this is a real map centered on Hamlet, encompassing a large surrounding region.
"Hmph! No wonder they’re eyeing Hamlet, these fellows likely want to reopen another prosperous trade route that vanished with Hamlet’s decline."
Lance mutters to himself with a displeased look while gazing at the map.
Hamlet is surrounded by enemies on three sides and also serves as a land junction for several regions.
To the north of Hamlet, beyond the Old City Ruins, lies the edge of the Misty Mountains, at the intersection of the Permafrost Tundra and Yellow Sand Desert.
The Old City Ruins served a similar role to Bastia as a war fortress, growing stronger and forming a monopoly at the junction of three regions and the connection point between two continents.
It was precisely because of this monopoly on land trade that Hamlet was so prosperous back then.
Unfortunately, Hamlet has now been divided by various feudal lords, leaving only a small territory.
"Our family has fallen into decline..."
Looking at Hamlet on the map, Lance can’t help but sigh; if such a territory had been handed to him, what significance would the ancestor have?
However, he quickly abandons unrealistic thoughts, as having less means not needing to juggle the interests of nobility and lacking those unhelpful allies.
Lance reassesses the map, critically important now as Hamlet is surrounded by enemies, since although the noble armed forces are not powerful, they are vexing.
Especially in Bastia, where most is mountainous, and they’ve occupied the area for years, posing a hassle for the Hamlet’s Army unfamiliar with the terrain.
But now this map can effectively solve that issue, detailing the mountains, rivers, barren wilderness, and dense forests, as if compressing the entire regional environment into it.
That is exactly why Lance carefully examines the annexed territories neighboring Hamlet.
The ancestor bullies me, you all bully me too, let’s see if you can stomach it...
The look in his eyes becomes increasingly dangerous, knowing he must eliminate these guys to restore Hamlet’s former reach.
But this cannot be rushed; the primary enemy for now is still the ancestor.
Like the scroll, the map has a powerful function aside from its basic use — reconnaissance.
An ability that sounds abstract, but it is because this map is not just a map; it contains powerful Supernatural Power.
Equipping it greatly enhances the holder’s perception, beyond mere intuition — a mysterious prowess, but that’s the allure of Supernatural Power, isn’t it?
This enhancement, if Lance employs Bloodhound Tracking, ensures he detects everything within a certain range.
Once you locate the enemy while remaining undetected, it results in a one-sided slaughter, making it a truly terrifying ability.
Two pieces of equipment have brought him immense surprises, but what’s left is somewhat useless.
The bizarre-shaped candle itself offers nothing noteworthy to research, and as Supernatural equipment, the power seems related to light.
Simply put, it greatly amplifies in light-filled environments like the [Sunlight Cloak], but provides no boost in darkness.
But who fights holding a candle?
It resembles more a special Magic Wand, similar to Alhazred’s Skull Candleholder, but with few pure spellcasters in Hamlet, Lance cannot utilize it.
Nevertheless, the appearance of this equipment confirms one thing for Lance: [Light] is merely one of many Supernatural Powers, since the candle’s tentacled base is clearly abnormal, yet it still can draw power from light.
It suffices to show that Holy Light and Holy Flame are just lies fabricated by the Church monopolizing this supernatural path.
If the ancestor can create it, there’s no reason Lance can’t, with the [Sunlight Cloak] being a research object, key to breaking the church’s monopoly.
It’s as if these equipments are mere gear in the eyes of ordinary Transcendents, but for Lance, they serve a deeper function.
