OutBreak Survival
Chapter 153: Purchasing Roxanne and Priestess. Explaining enchantment payment. You lower your voice slightly, letting the telepathy web carries your words to anyone interested. "Roxanne is a name I was surprised to hear. She should have the ability to survive a zombie apocalypse... presuming she has basic awareness to protect herself and nobody who can identify her has the ability to purchase her."
Rika glances up, one eyebrow raised. C.C. shifts in the captain's chair, attention fully captured.
"Mugen however will be a different case entirely," you continue, pulling a simple silver band from your inventory. "Think of him not as an amazingly dexterous swordsman and more of a starved monkey with a sword. He's as likely to poorly try flirting with you all as demand we feed him since he's one of the dimensional travelers we're working to help."
Violet's expression remains neutral, but her posture shifts slightly - recognition of potential behavioral challenge.
"Smart enough to walk through a town," you explain while channeling mana into the ring, watching the metal take on a faint golden shimmer. "Not smart enough to keep in a group, especially one made up of so many pretty women."
The enchantment settles - mana generation, sustenance, cleanliness, vigor, aging reversal, aura ward. Simple but comprehensive. Eternal Ring complete.
Yoruichi laughs from her perch atop the tactical display. "So we're meeting a horny idiot and a traumatized girl. This should be interesting."
The command center door opens. Asia enters first, still wearing her modified nun's habit with the short skirt, followed immediately by Rin in her black and red uniform. Mikasa steps through behind them, red scarf absent, survey corps jacket open. Maria appears in the doorway a heartbeat later, violet eyes already assessing the situation.
"You mentioned someone traumatized?" Asia asks directly, moving toward your side.
"Priestess, likely a Goblin Slayer variant," you confirm. "Blonde hair, white-and-gold robes, severe trauma. Barely speaks. Platinum-Three has her at the compound we're about to go meet her in."
Maria's expression shifts into calculation. "And Roxanne?"
"Isekai Meikyuu, a standard harem-adventure fantasy" you answer. "Floppy dog ears. Supposedly till wearing her original slave collar, though it's practically just a dog collar, that world used their system for enslavement. the collars were purely social standing, if I remember right. Cooperative would fit her mentality, especially if she's from pre-series."
Rin crosses her arms, leaning against the navigation console. "So we're rescuing dimensional travelers from an underground slave market. You're planning to enchant the slaver's facilities as payment?"
"Priority access to future captures," you clarify. "First refusal before other buyers. Transparent intelligence sharing."
Albedo stands from her position near the wall, black plate armor materializing across her body in smooth segments - gorget, pauldrons, cuirass, gauntlets, greaves. Her wings fold tight against her back as the final pieces lock into place. "I'm ready."
You close your eyes, casting Scry toward the coordinates Platinum-Three provided. The vision resolves immediately - three-story hotel surrounded by modified chain-link fence, guards positioned along the perimeter watching highway approaches, armored vehicles parked inside the compound.
"Gate," you announce. The shimmering portal tears open directly in front of the warehouse's main entrance. Through the opening you can see guards scrambling into defensive positions, weapons raised toward the sudden magical aperture.
Albedo steps through first without hesitation, armored boots striking concrete with deliberate weight. Her golden eyes sweep the compound, assessing threats with predatory precision.
You follow behind her after a moment, stepping through into afternoon heat. The compound before you - three-story hotel converted into fortified operations center, chain-link fence topped with razor wire, guards positioned along the perimeter with rifles lowered but ready.
Albedo moves beside you in full black plate armor, golden eyes sweeping the compound with predatory assessment. Behind her, Musashi strolls casually despite the armed guards watching, silver-pink hair catching afternoon sunlight. Yoruichi follows with minimal robe flowing loose around her frame, purple hair tied back. Mikasa's red scarf is absent but her Survey Corps jacket remains open, expression neutral. Maria walks in her tight top and skirt, violet eyes tracking guard positions. Asia follows in her modified nun's habit, hands clasped. Rin keeps her school uniform pristine, posture relaxed but alert. Rika maintains tactical vest and professional bearing. C.C. brings up the rear in her a white shirt and black pants, expression characteristically bored.
The Gate collapses behind your group with a soft hiss of air pressure.
Guards scramble into defensive positions - rifles raised, safeties flicking off with metallic clicks. Twelve men total, spread across rooftop and ground level.
"Stand down!" A woman's voice cuts through the tension from the warehouse's second-floor balcony. Southern drawl thick and commanding. "That's The Enchanter. Lower your goddamn weapons before you embarrass yourselves."
Rifles drop immediately. Guards exchange nervous glances, recognition spreading.
You lead your group toward the main entrance - glass double doors with reinforced frames. The lobby beyond shows functional military efficiency: metal desks, radio equipment, weapon racks, supply crates stacked against walls.
The doors swing open before you reach them. A woman emerges - late forties, weathered skin suggesting years of outdoor work, graying brown hair pulled into practical ponytail, jeans and leather jacket worn but maintained. Calculating gray eyes assess your group with professional interest.
"Enchanter," she greets, southern accent softening into polite welcome. "Sandra Vasquez. Call me Sandy if you like - everyone does. Platinum-Three's just business designation." She extends her hand toward you, grip firm when you accept. "Wasn't expectin' the full entourage, but I appreciate the theater. Your ladies are certainly makin' an impression."
"The theatre is part of the intention, but I assure you my guards are as efficient as they are beautiful. It's a pleasure to meet you Sandra." You respond as her gaze lingers on Albedo's armor, then Musashi's relaxed confidence, before returning to you.
"Got your three ready for inspection like promised. Figured we'd start with Roxanne - she's the easiest introduction. Cooperative, aware of her situation, understands the transaction. Girl's been workin' kitchen duty since we picked her up, hasn't caused a single problem."
Sandra gestures toward the interior. "Priestess is gonna need careful handlin' - severe trauma like I mentioned. Got her in a quiet room upstairs, mildly sedated to keep her calm. And Mugen's currently eatin' breakfast in the guard barracks after pullin' perimeter patrol overnight. Hungry bastard, but he earns his meals."
She steps aside, holding the door open. "Which one you want first?"
"Starting with Roxanne is a good choice if she matches the character I know," you tell Sandra, gesturing toward the interior. "Then we can go to the top floor so I can enchant the location before heading to meet Priestess without having to move her. Your description suggests Mugen is as I expect, so I'll be handling him a bit differently."
Sandra nods, leading your group through the lobby into a converted dining hall. Tables pushed against walls create open floorspace. Guards watch from doorways with rifles slung over shoulders.
"Maya!" Sandra calls toward the kitchen entrance. "Bring Roxanne out."
A teenage girl in worn jeans appears, nodding before disappearing back through swinging doors.
Albedo shifts beside you, armored boots clicking against tile. Musashi leans against a support pillar with casual interest. Yoruichi grins from her position near the windows. Maria's violet eyes track movements with analytical precision.
The kitchen doors swing open again. A young woman steps through wearing a standard black-and-white maid uniform - white apron over black dress, white headband in blonde-brown hair. Dog ears protrude from beneath the fabric, floppy and alert. Her tail sways behind her as she walks forward with natural grace.
You appreciate immediately what Sandra meant about clean merchandise. No bruising, no signs of abuse. The uniform fits properly - though you recognize the subtle wrongness of how the fabric sits across her chest. The apron covers as expected, but the dress beneath has shifted into distinct pockets conforming to her breasts rather than draping naturally. Her world's clothing mechanics still applying despite dimensional displacement.
Roxanne stops three paces away, lowering her gaze respectfully. Hands folded at her waist. Posture perfect.
Your group appraises her silently. Robin's expression shows recognition - cultural understanding of servitude crossing dimensional boundaries. Rika maintains professional neutrality. C.C. observes with detached interest.
"Roxanne," you begin directly, keeping your voice calm and clear. "While I'm not able to use the rules from your homeworld, I have chosen to purchase you. Will you accept me as your master?"
Her dog ears perk forward. Reddish-brown eyes lift to meet yours briefly before dropping again - trained deference warring with genuine assessment.
"Yes, Master," she answers without hesitation, voice soft but steady. "This one accepts."
Sandra exhales quietly beside you. "Clean transaction. She's been cooperative since we picked her up - never caused problems, never tried running. Works kitchen duty without complaint."
Roxanne's tail waves slightly at the praise before stilling. Still awaiting further instruction.
You step forward, closing the distance between yourself and Roxanne. Your hand lifts to cup her cheek - warm skin beneath your palm, floppy dog ears twitching slightly at the contact. Her reddish-brown eyes widen momentarily before lowering again in trained deference.
"We'll talk more when we're home," you tell her gently. "For now, please walk beside C.C. - the bored-looking girl with long green hair."
Roxanne's tail swishes once. "Yes, Master." She turns, spotting C.C. leaning against the wall near the kitchen entrance, and moves to stand beside her without hesitation.
C.C. glances sideways at the dog-eared girl. "Welcome to the collection," she says dryly.
You turn back toward Sandra, who watches the exchange with professional assessment. "Next stop, top floor, thankfully it's only two flights of stairs." you announce.
Sandra gestures toward the lobby. "Elevators are this way. We've been limiting usage to preserve power, but they're functional."
"That won't be needed anymore," you reply, following her through the dining hall exit. "I need to choose an average size screen to use as a display for the enchantment, preferably one that a guest won't stumble onto."
The elevator ride takes thirty seconds - industrial mechanism grinding upward with mechanical reliability. Sandra stands beside you, hands in jacket pockets, calculating gray eyes watching the floor numbers tick higher.
Third floor opens onto a carpeted hallway. Sandra leads left toward the end unit. "Security office is down here. Biggest suite is the corner apartment, but the office has better equipment for what you're describing."
She unlocks the security office door - small room filled with monitor banks, recording equipment, radio gear stacked on metal shelves. Multiple large flat-screens dominate the walls, showing four-way splits of compound cameras.
"This'll work," you confirm, stepping inside. You place your hand flat against a smaller screen, likely once used for individual viewing, channeling mana through the network. Golden light spreads outward from your palm - cascading across the screen, bleeding into walls, expanding through ceiling and floor simultaneously.
The glow intensifies, washing through every surface of the hotel. You feel the enchantment web expanding - foundation to rooftop, every room, every corridor, every structural element, through the grounds out to the defensive walls.
Sandra steps closer, eyes tracking the magical luminescence. "What exactly are you doing?"
"Standard package," you explain, maintaining focus as the enchantment settles. "Energy conversion turns electrical power into mana. Repair systems will fix structural damage gradually. Refuel enchantments generate diesel and gasoline. Cleanliness keeps surfaces and inhabitants clean automatically. Thermostasis maintains comfortable temperatures. Sustenance removes the need for food and water for anyone inside. Vigor speeds natural healing and removes fatigue. Aging reversal keeps the body from aging-"
Sandra's expression shifts sharply. "Wait. Aging reversal?"
You nod, watching the golden glow fade as the enchantment completes. "Reverses biological aging one-to-one. Maintains biological stasis. You'll stop getting older. Everyone inside will."
Her mouth opens slightly. Closes. Opens again. "You're telling me... everyone in this building just stopped aging?"
"Technically still aging, you're just also reverse-aging at the same rate. Hence the name." you confirm simply.
Sandra staggers backward half a step, hand bracing against the doorframe. "Jesus Christ."
The enchantments settle fully - Interface established, network connection active. The facility now generates mana, protects occupants, maintains infrastructure.
Sandra stares at you with something approaching religious awe.
You step toward the door, Sandra falling into stride beside you. "I don't use the age-stasis as a selling point," you explain while descending the stairwell. "It's only active while on the location. Leave the building and you'll continue aging. Better to describe it as location convenience instead of announcing eternal youth on the condition of being trapped."
Sandra nods slowly, processing. "Smart framing. Keeps expectations realistic."
You reach the second-floor landing, continuing down the hallway. "One of our later services will be for actual age reduction. On my side it's just multiplying the mana cost - three hundred sixty-six mana for a day instead of one. Pulls a year off your age daily until the client is where they want to be."
Sandra stops walking entirely. "Wait. You're saying-"
"Youth." you confirm without slowing.
"Jesus Christ," Sandra breathes, scrambling to catch up. "That's-"
You reach an occupied room before she finishes. The door stands slightly ajar, young women visible through the gap inside. You push it open slowly, Asia stepping through beside you.
Five women occupy the space - four sitting on cots against the walls, one lying down with blonde hair splayed across a thin pillow. White-and-gold robes wrinkled from extended wear. Young face slack with chemical sedation. Eyes tracking sluggishly toward the opening door.
One of the seated women - early twenties, brown ponytail, tired eyes - notices your attention and speaks. "She's on midazolam, low dose. Two milligrams every six hours. Last dose was ninety minutes ago."
Asia moves forward, kneeling beside the cot. "Priestess?" Her voice soft, concerned. "Can you hear me?"
The blonde girl's eyes drift toward Asia's face. Lips part slightly. "...yes."
"Don't remove the drugs yet," you warn Asia quietly. "It's done for her own protection."
Asia's expression tightens but she nods, shifting back to give you space.
You kneel slowly, bringing yourself level with Priestess's unfocused gaze. "I've taken the steps to purchase you," you say clearly, enunciating each word. "I'm going to teleport you to my home. We will explain more soon."
Her eyes widen slightly - fear breaking through sedation. "No... please..."
You stand, "Spectral Hand." The translucent appendage materializes beside you, golden light coalescing into recognizable fingers.
The four watching women jerk backward. Sandra's breath catches audibly.
The spectral hand drifts forward, touching Priestess's shoulder gently. She flinches but doesn't scream.
"Teleport." you murmur.
Priestess vanishes. The cot beneath her suddenly empty.
The brown-haired woman who spoke earlier stares at the vacant space. "What the fuck."
You turn toward Asia, the Spectral Hand returning. "Your turn."
Asia stands quickly, staff clutched tight. The spectral hand touches her shoulder.
"Teleport." She disappears.
Sandra releases a shaky exhale behind you. "That's... that's how you move people?"
"When needed, it's a bit more limited than the Gate, though better situationally." you confirm, dismissing the translucent hand, ignoring as it fades.
The four remaining women stare at you with expressions ranging from shock to dawning terror.
"Mugen's in the guard barracks," Sandra says finally, voice steadier than her expression. "Ground floor."
