Pampering Discarded Heroines Triggers My 10,000x Rebate System
Chapter 26: Garrett SterlingFor five suffocating seconds, not a single person in the 30th-floor recruitment hall dared to breathe.
The hundreds of applicants, proctors, and armed security guards stood frozen like stone statues, their eyes glued to Director Mikay bowing before the young man in the simple charcoal henley.
Chief Examiner Bradley’s brain completely short-circuited.
His face drained of every drop of blood until his skin was as white as chalk. His pupils dilated in pure, paralyzing horror.
’Ch-Chairman?!’
Bradley’s knees lost all strength. He collapsed hard on the marble floor, clawing desperately at the edge of his desk to keep from passing out.
"N-No... no, no, no..." Bradley stammered hysterically, cold sweat pouring down his face like a waterfall. "D-Director Mikay... you... you must be mistaken! He... he’s wearing street clothes! He’s just an F-Rank applicant!"
Julian Croft stood by the desk, his platinum armor rattling as he shook. He quickly stepped back into the crowd and pulled down his visor to hide his face.
Evren didn’t even spare Julian a glance. He looked down at the trembling examiner on the floor with a cold gaze.
"Examiner Bradley," Evren spoke calmly. "Just a moment ago, you stated on official security recording that in Apex Guild, a fifty-thousand-dollar cash bribe buys a guaranteed seat, while honest hunters who bleed for their families are thrown in the garbage. You also claimed that even if Chairman Evren stood before you, he would have to bow his head and give you face."
Bradley gasped for air, slamming his forehead against the floor in a desperate panic.
"Chairman Evren! Spare me! I was blind! I didn’t know it was you!" Bradley wept, snot and tears smearing against the polished tiles. "I’ll return the money! I’ll do whatever you want! Please don’t destroy my license!"
Evren turned to Mikay.
"Terminate Bradley and all complicit proctors immediately," Evren instructed. "Confiscate the fifty-thousand-dollar bribe envelope from his coat pocket and hand the footage directly to the Guild Bureau Marshals for Class-A extortion, corruption, and permanent blacklisting from the Awakener Registry."
"Understood, Chairman!" Mikay responded, signaling the elite Apex Security commanders to slap mana-cuffs onto Bradley’s wrists and drag the sobbing examiner away.
Evren then glanced toward the trembling young master in platinum armor.
"As for Julian Croft... disqualify his application immediately and ban Croft Mining from every commercial supply contract with Apex Conglomerate."
Julian let out a choked gasp, slumping against a marble pillar in utter ruin.
Evren walked over to Tobias.
Bending down, Evren picked up Tobias’s crumpled application from the floor, smoothed it out against his palm, and pulled a sleek black-and-gold fountain pen from his pocket.
Evren handed the pen to the stunned young hunter.
"You fought with honor, Tobias, and you achieved Grade A physical impact through your own blood and sweat," Evren said with a genuine smile. "Sign here. You are officially Recruit Number One of the Apex Guild Vanguard."
Tobias stared at the golden pen, then looked up at Evren with wide, tear-filled eyes.
"C-Chairman..." Tobias’s voice cracked with overwhelming emotion. "My sister’s medical treatment..."
"Her medical bills will be covered one hundred percent by the guild’s comprehensive healthcare trust," Evren assured him gently. "Train hard, hunter. Apex Guild protects its own."
Tears of gratitude streamed down Tobias’s cheeks as he signed the contract with trembling hands, bowing deeply to Evren.
The entire recruitment hall erupted into loud cheers.
The applicants cheered and applauded, clearly impressed by the young Chairman. Evren then named a trustworthy, experienced proctor as Interim Chief Evaluator to make sure the testing process remained fair for everyone.
As the cheers echoed across the floor, Mikay stepped closer to Evren with a serious expression.
"Chairman, while you were down here, an emergency arose on the fortieth floor," Mikay whispered. "Garrett Sterling and the Sterling Clan corporate legal team forced their way into the executive boardroom."
Evren raised an eyebrow. "Garrett Sterling?"
"Yes, sir. They brought an expedited municipal custody petition and an asset injunction warrant. They are claiming Miss Amber is a legally incompetent ward of the Sterling Clan, demanding her immediate custody, and claiming rights to a fifty percent equity stake in all Apex assets!"
A chilling smile touched Evren’s lips.
"They threw Amber out to die like trash, and now that she’s living in the Imperial Crest Manor on Victoria Hill, they come crawling with lawyers?"
Evren turned toward the private elevator. "Let’s go greet our guests."
—
40th Floor Executive Boardroom.
Sitting arrogantly at the head of the long mahogany conference table was Garrett Sterling, puffing on an expensive Cuban cigar with thick smoke billowing around his silver hair.
Beside him sat four senior corporate lawyers in matching bespoke suits; their briefcases were open, with their legal stamps clearly on display..
When the double doors opened and Evren stepped inside followed by Mikay, Garrett didn’t even bother to stand up. He leaned back in his chair, tapping the ash from his cigar onto the table with a smug, mocking sneer.
Beside his ashtray sat a manila intelligence folder with a surveillance photo of Evren in his former DashExpress courier jacket.
"Well, well... the delivery boy finally shows up," Garrett chuckled, blowing a thick plume of smoke toward Evren. "My investigators pulled your complete file, kid. A five-dollar food courier who got lucky with a few investments. Did you really think an upstart peasant could outsmart high-society aristocracy?"
Garrett tapped a thick stack of legal documents on the table.
"Amber is a blood daughter of the Sterling Clan. Under municipal guardianship laws, a paralyzed, incapacitated individual remains under the legal custody of her family estate. You tricked a crippled woman into leaving our care."
Garrett leaned forward.
"Sign over physical custody of Amber to us immediately, along with a fifty percent equity stake in Apex Logistics and your Victoria Hill estate as compensation for unlawful detention. Otherwise, our legal team will freeze every commercial account under Apex Conglomerate in municipal court for the next ten years!"
The four lawyers smiled smugly, sliding the pre-drafted surrender contract across the table.
Evren didn’t look at the contract.
He pulled out a chair at the opposite end of the table, sat down calmly, and rested his forearms against the table.
"Finished?" Evren asked in an icy, level tone.
Garrett frowned, unsettled by Evren’s complete lack of panic. "Don’t act tough, kid. You don’t have the legal standing to fight the Sterling Clan!"
Evren gestured to Mikay.
Mikay stepped forward, slamming three gold-embossed leather folders onto the center of the table with a resounding THUD.
"First," Evren said smoothly, opening the first folder. "This is an authenticated affidavit signed and biometrically sealed by Miss Amber Sterling yesterday afternoon. It declares a permanent, irrevocable severance of all blood ties, clan claims, and estate obligations to the Sterling family. Miss Amber is of legal age, mentally sound, and completely independent."
Garrett sneered. "A court will throw that out! She’s a paralyzed cripple!"
"Second," Evren opened the second folder, displaying a stamped medical certificate stamped by the Central Medical Bureau. "This is Miss Amber’s certified recovery report. Her spinal necrosis is dissolving, her nervous system is actively regenerating, and she has already regained full feeling and movement in her lower body. In the eyes of the law, she is fully competent."
Garrett’s cigar nearly slipped from his fingers. His face twitched in disbelief. "R-Regenerating?! That’s impossible!"
"And third..."
Evren opened the third folder, revealing a thick stack of red-stamped financial bank ledgers.
Evren looked straight into Garrett’s widening eyes.
"This is the confidential debt ledger for Sterling Guild Holdings. Your clan is currently three months delinquent on $20,000,000.00 in commercial bank notes held by Apex National Bank and the central consortium."
Evren leaned forward, releasing a terrifying flash of his S-Rank aura, making the air in the boardroom to turn icy and still.
"I have nearly two hundred million dollars in liquid cash sitting in my personal account right now," Evren whispered. "If I buy out your delinquent bank notes this afternoon, I will execute an immediate foreclosure. I will seize your family mansion, auction every vehicle your family owns, freeze your children’s trust funds, and leave you begging in the exact same am way you did Amber."
Garrett’s face turned completely ashen.
His cigar dropped from his trembling fingers, burning a hole directly through the mahogany table.
The four corporate lawyers looked at the debt ledgers, their smug arrogance instantly shattering into pure terror.
"M-Mr. Sterling..." the lead lawyer stammered, frantically packing his briefcase. "This... this is an enforceable debt liquidation! He can bankrupt the entire clan before sunset."
"Take your garbage papers," Evren pointed toward the double doors. "And get the hell out of my building. If I ever see a single member of the Sterling Clan within five miles of Amber or Victoria Hill again... I will destroy your entire bloodline."
Garrett scrambled out of his chair so fast it flipped backward onto the floor.
Clutching his chest in panic, Garrett and his four terrified lawyers sprinted out of the boardroom like frightened rats, slamming the door shut behind them.
The boardroom fell into complete silence.
DING!
A blinding flash of radiant golden light erupted before Evren’s eyes as the System UI chimed:

Evren stared at the glowing golden recipe, feeling an electric surge of excitement race through his veins.
The final cure for Amber. The medicine that would allow her to stand, walk, run, and fight by his side at full power.
Evren turned to Mikay. "Mikay."
"Yes, boss!" Mikay answered, standing at attention.
"Pull up the Guild Bureau’s central dimensional registry. Check if there’s an active rift registered under the name ’Solar Flare Caverns’ in Sector Three. If there isn’t, then keep an eye out and inform me immediately."
Mikay quickly typed the query into the Bureau’s live database on his tablet, his eyes widening slightly as the results loaded on screen.
"Actually, Chairman... there is one," Mikay reported promptly. "The Solar Flare Caverns opened forty-eight hours ago. Two regional guilds attempted a twenty-man joint expedition yesterday, but their vanguard was incinerated at the magma gates and forced to retreat. The Bureau just flagged the rift as an active danger zone and opened an emergency high-priority clearing contract for any certified A-Rank or S-Rank organization."
A confident smile spread across Evren’s lips.
"File an emergency solo raid clearance under Apex Guild immediately," Evren commanded, grabbing his dark coat. "I’m heading to Sector Three."
