Pampering Discarded Heroines Triggers My 10,000x Rebate System
Chapter 29: A Dead End?The six Magma Golems struck at the same time.
Their massive rock fists came crashing down from all four sides of the isolated basalt pillar, aiming to turn Evren into red paste.
Evren reacted almost immediately by pushing off with explosive force, leaping eight feet straight up into the air just as the stone fists collided.
BOOM!
The impact of the six fists smashed the top layer of the pillar into flying gravel and sharp obsidian shrapnel.
Mid-air, Evren twisted his body and landed squarely on the stony shoulder of the nearest Golem. He gripped the Frost-Bane Cleaver with both hands, channeling his raw mana straight into the leather-wrapped hilt.
The blue Wyvern Core embedded in the crossguard flared with bright, cold light as Evren drove the blade straight down into the Golem’s rocky neck.
A wave of sub-zero frost shot through the creature’s molten veins. The glowing orange cracks in its body turned dull and gray as its internal flame core froze solid.
The ten-foot stone giant broke apart into pieces of cold gravel, dropping an A-Rank Golem Core into the air. Evren caught the glowing core in his left palm and shoved it deep into his pocket.
Before he could drop to the stone below, the second Golem swung its arm like a battering ram.
SMACK!
Evren brought his blade up to block, but the raw kinetic force sent him skidding violently across the narrow, scorched platform.
His right boot slipped off the crumbling edge into empty air.
Below him, the boiling lava bubbled just inches from his heel, releasing intense thermal heat that made the soles of his boots hiss.
Evren’s body tilted backward toward the molten sea.
But his S-Rank reflexes took over. He dropped into a low, desperate split across the jagged stone, digging his fingers into the solid rock to stop himself from falling into the lava.
The sharp stone dug into his skin, and his muscles tensed under the sudden pressure.
Right above him, a third Golem stepped forward. It raised both two-ton rock fists high above its head, ready to crush Evren into the stone while he was trapped in the split.
Evren gritted his teeth. Instead of trying to pull himself up awkwardly, he used the incoming attack to his advantage.
He waited for the exact fraction of a second when the heavy fists began their downward swing. Then, Evren pressed his palms hard against the stone edge and kicked off with his legs.
He launched himself backward into the air, clearing the falling fists by inches.
BOOM!
The Golem’s fists smashed directly into the pillar, cracking the rock beneath it and causing half the stone to fall into the magma.
Coming down from above, Evren swung his frosty greatblade in a clean, horizontal arc.
The blade sliced through the Golem’s waist, flash-freezing its core. The monster shattered into cold rubble before it could pull its arms back out of the stone.
"Two down," Evren breathed, landing lightly on a neighboring stepping-stone.
The remaining four Golems realized they couldn’t catch him with standard punches. So two of them charged forward to box him in, while the third Golem bent down, scooped a massive boulder of molten rock from the lava, and hurled it straight at Evren.
At the same time, the fourth one slammed its fists directly into the base of the pillar Evren was standing on, trying to shatter his footing completely!
CRACK-CRACK-CRACK!
The stone beneath Evren’s boots began to split and crumble into the boiling lava sea.
Without a second thought, Evren sprinted forward across the breaking rock. He cut the flying molten boulder cleanly in half with an upward slash of frost energy. Passing between the two halves of the shattered rock, Evren leaped off the crumbling edge.
In mid-air, the two charging Golems reached out with their massive stony arms, trying to grab him by the torso.
Evren kicked off the chest of the left Golem, using the recoil to spin his body in a complete circle. His icy blade swept across both of their necks in a single fluid rotation, severing their heads and freezing their internal cores instantly!
Both giants shattered into frozen pieces and fell into the bubbling lava.
The final Golem roared with rage, raising its burning fists and rushing across the last remaining stone pillar.
Evren dropped from the air, planted his boots firmly on the stone, and met the monster head-on.
He ducked beneath the Golem’s wild swing, drove the Frost-Bane Cleaver straight through the center of its chest, and channeled a full burst of pure mana into the core.
A blinding explosion of blue frost ripped through the monster’s rocky frame, shattering it into thousands of frozen pebbles.
Evren snatched the final glowing core out of the air.
He stood on the edge of the last stone, taking a deep, steadying breath.
Around him, all the basalt pillars had collapsed into the lava lake, but the six A-Rank Golem Cores were safely in his possession.
With no time to waste, Evren gathered his strength, bent his knees, and made one final leap across the remaining gap of boiling lava.
He landed on the far stone ledge on the other side of the cavern.
Evren stood up and brushed the soot from his coat. He looked ahead, hoping to see a tunnel leading deeper into the mountain.
Instead, his eyes widened in surprise.
Before him stood a massive, fifty-foot wall of smooth, black obsidian. There were no doors, no archways, no hidden side tunnels. It was a complete, dead-end cliff.
Evren walked up to the towering wall, resting his hand against the cold, glassy surface.
"A dead end?" Evren murmured, his brow furrowing slightly. "Did I make a mistake at the crossroads?"
He paused, taking a moment to calm his thoughts. Evren focused his S-Rank perception, letting his eyes sweep carefully across the smooth black surface.
In the faint red reflection of the lava lake behind him, he noticed a subtle pattern.
Carved into the obsidian wall at chest height were six circular sockets, arranged in the shape of an ancient hexagon. Thin, glowing runic channels connected the sockets, running down the wall and sinking into the floor.
Evren reached into his pocket and pulled out the six glowing A-Rank Golem Cores he had just gathered.
The fiery cores matched the size of the stone sockets down to the millimeter.
"The six Golems weren’t just guardians," Evren realized, a faint smile touching his lips. "They were the keys."
Evren stepped forward, pressing the first core into the top socket.
CLICK.
The core locked into place like a vault tumbler, its fiery energy lighting up the runic channels in bright orange light.
One by one, Evren inserted the remaining five cores.
CLICK. CLICK. CLICK. CLICK. CLICK.
As the sixth core locked in, all six fiery crystals flared with bright red light, humming with powerful magical resonance.
RUUUUMBLE!
The ground beneath Evren’s boots shook violently. The fifty-foot obsidian wall let out a deep, grinding groan and began to sink slowly into the stone floor.
As the massive stone wall disappeared below the ground, a blast of intense, golden heat rushed out to meet him.
Before Evren lay the Core Caldera... the true heart of the volcano.
It was a massive underground cave, twice the size of the one before. In the middle of the glowing lake of lava stood a tall, ancient stone altar. Floating above it was a breathtaking flower made of pure, radiant fire: the Solar Flame-Heart.
Its golden light filled the entire cavern with a warm, bright glow.
Evren stepped onto the narrow stone bridge leading toward the altar.
BOOOOOOM!
The entire caldera shook as if an earthquake had struck the mountain. The lake of white-hot magma erupted into a fifty-foot wave of liquid fire that slammed violently against the cavern walls.
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAR!
A thunderous roar shook the cavern; it was so loud that it rattled rocks from the ceiling. Rising from the center of the boiling magma was the master of the rift: the Level 55 Molten Obsidian Behemoth.
It was a thirty-five-foot beast covered in thick black rock, with glowing white lava pulsing through its body like veins. On top of its skull were two massive magma horns that burned with blinding, intense heat.
Its glowing yellow eyes locked onto Evren with pure fury.
’Here it begins,’ Evren thought, immediately starting his internal timer.
Ten seconds.
The Behemoth raised its massive, five-ton rock fist and slammed it straight down onto the stone bridge.
BOOM!
Evren darted forward, clearing the impact zone by yards as the stone bridge shattered into rubble behind him.
Fifteen seconds.
The Behemoth swung its stone tail across the lava lake, sending a huge tidal wave of boiling white-hot magma splashing toward Evren.
Evren leaped high into the air, using his S-Rank agility to vault over the molten spray, landing lightly on an isolated stone platform near the altar.
Thirty seconds.
Evren sprinted up the Behemoth’s thick foreleg, swinging the Frost-Bane Cleaver with all his strength against its back knee tendon.
The blade bit into the monster’s armor, sending sparks flying. The blue frost energy seeped into the monster’s joint, cracking the rock and slowing its movements, but the beast roared in fury and stomped the platform with enough force to throw Evren twenty feet back.
Forty-five seconds.
Evren flipped in mid-air, landing on the edge of the altar.
The Behemoth opened its mouth and blasted out liquid fire. Evren moved fast, darting across the crumbling stones to escape the fire as it melted the ground behind him.
Fifty seconds.
The monster stopped moving its limbs. It lowered its massive head, planting all four legs firmly into the boiling lava pool.
Fifty-five seconds.
A high-pitched, terrifying hum began to echo through the entire cavern.
The Behemoth’s two giant magma horns began to glow intensely. The air around the monster grew scorching hot, warping the light with three-thousand-degree heat.
The whole cavern started turning white.
Evren skidded to a halt on the edge of the altar, his Glacial Mantle flapping wildly in the scorching gale.
He looked up at the terrifying ball of white sunfire gathering between the beast’s horns. He tightened both hands around the leather hilt of his greatblade.
’Sixty seconds.’
A calm, fearless smirk touched Evren’s lips as the blinding white light exploded outward: ’Here it comes.’
