Pampering Discarded Heroines Triggers My 10,000x Rebate System
Chapter 33: It’s a Trick"Are you ready, Vice-Chairman Amber?"
Inside the Maybach limousine, Evren turned to Amber and offered his hand with a confident smile.
Amber placed her hand firmly in his. "I’m ready, Evren," she replied softly. "Let’s show them."
Outside the tinted windows, the grand facade of the Grand Apex Hotel was illuminated by towering golden spotlights.
A two-hundred-foot red carpet stretched from the street to the grand entrance arch, surrounded by velvet ropes, security marshals, and a roaring crowd of over a hundred journalists, television broadcasters, and high-society photographers.
The vehicle came to a smooth stop at the center of the drop-off zone.
The crowd of reporters turned their camera lenses toward the vehicle, murmuring in curious anticipation to see who had just arrived
The chauffeur opened the rear door and Evren stepped out first onto the red carpet.
Standing tall, his presence instantly drew the attention of every camera in the plaza. Evren turned back toward the open vehicle door, extending his right hand.
Inside the limousine, a single, slender leg stepped out.
A collective gasp rippled through the front row of reporters as Amber stepped out of the vehicle, standing fully upright on her own two feet. She linked her arm securely around Evren’s, lifting her chin high and her posture with confidence.
FLASH! FLASH! FLASH!
A blinding storm of camera flashes lit up the plaza.
"Look! Look over there!" a reporter screamed into his microphone. "Is that... is that Miss Amber Sterling?!"
"It’s Amber Sterling! The former vanguard commander!" another journalist shouted in disbelief. "She’s standing! She’s walking in high heels!"
"Broadcast this live on the main channel right now!"
Photographers crowded the velvet ropes, snapping hundreds of photos per seconds as live TV feeds broadcasted images of the walking heiress to the entire city.
Evren and Amber walked side by side down the center of the red carpet.
As they reached the top of the marble steps near the grand entrance arch, three figures blocked their path.
Standing behind the VIP velvet rope, holding glasses of champagne, were Young Master Prescott, his socialite fiancée Giselle, and Uncle Garrett Sterling.
When Prescott’s eyes landed on Amber, his smug grin vanished completely. His jaw dropped, and his eyes bulged in horror.
The crystal champagne flute slipped from Prescott’s fingers, smashing into pieces on the marble floor and splashing expensive vintage liquor across his white leather shoes.
Beside him, Uncle Garrett turned as pale as a corpse.
"N-No..." Garrett stammered. "T-That’s impossible... her spine was shattered! The necrotic poison had completely destroyed her nerves! How... how is she standing?"
Giselle’s face twisted in denial. She took a step forward, glaring at Amber’s emerald gown and sparkling crystal heels with bitter jealousy.
"It’s a trick!" Giselle shrieked, pointing a trembling finger at Amber. "She’s wearing hidden robotic leg braces under that long dress! She’s faking it with mechanical props to fool the cameras."
Amber stopped three feet away from them.
She looked at Giselle, then shifted her gaze to her trembling uncle Garrett.
Her eyes flashed with a faint, chilling aura of azure S-Rank mana that caused the air between them to drop in temperature.
Amber took three slow steps forward on her own. She pulled back the hem of her emerald gown slightly with one hand, revealing her slender, bare calves and the diamond straps of her heels... completely free of any braces, wires, or supports.
"Are these the mechanical props you were talking about, Giselle?" Amber asked coldly.
Giselle took a step back, her face turning bright red in humiliation.
Amber turned her gaze to Garrett, who was sweating profusely through his stiff collar.
"And Uncle Garrett," she said with an icy tone. "Just because I was broken, you threw me into the freezing rain and told me I was a useless cripple who deserved to die."
Amber lifted her chin, looking down at him like a sovereign looking at an insect.
"You severed my ties to the Sterling family so you could steal my inheritance. Today, I am standing on my own two feet, and the Sterling name means nothing to me. If you or your elders ever dare approach me again, you will answer to Evren."
Garrett gasped for air, his knees wobbling as he stumbled back against the wall, paralyzed by terror.
Prescott clenched his fists.
"Don’t get arrogant, you broke upstarts!" Prescott hissed furiously, turning toward the hotel security marshals. "Guards! Check their credentials! Evren is just a penniless ex-delivery boy who registered a fake guild! They don’t have VIP status! Bar them from entering the ballroom."
The security guards hesitated, looking awkwardly at Evren’s commanding presence.
Before Prescott could yell again, the gold-leaf double doors of the grand ballroom swung wide open.
Walking out of the ballroom, surrounded by four executive bodyguards and senior city officials, was Mayor Henderson and Director Keller of the Metropolis Commerce Bureau.
Prescott’s eyes lit up with arrogant hope.
He immediately rushed forward, bowing eagerly. "Mayor Henderson! Director Keller! You arrived just in time! This unregistered hunter is causing a disturbance at the door..."
Mayor Henderson didn’t even look at Prescott.
"Move aside, Prescott," Mayor Henderson commanded coldly, brushing past the young master as if he were a speck of dust.
Mayor Henderson and Director Keller walked straight up to Evren and Amber with wide, welcoming smiles as they extended both hands in greeting.
"Chairman Evren! Lady Amber!" Mayor Henderson said warmly, shaking Evren’s hand with respect. "We have been eagerly watching your arrival on the live broadcast! Welcome to the Annual Metropolis Gala."
Director Keller smiled warmly at Amber. "Miss Amber, seeing you standing here tonight in such radiant health is the greatest triumph this city has witnessed in years. The entire business chamber is honored by your presence."
Around the entrance, dozens of journalists and high-society onlookers gasped in awe.
Prescott stood frozen, his face burning with shame as the Mayor ignored him completely.
"Thank you, Mayor Henderson, Director Keller," Evren smiled calmly. "We are honored to be here."
"Please, follow us inside," Mayor Henderson gestured respectfully. "VIP Table Number One is reserved exclusively for the Apex Guild delegation at the center of the ballroom."
Evren offered his arm to Amber, and together, flanked by the Mayor and the Commerce President, they walked through the grand double doors into the glowing ballroom.
Behind them, Prescott and Garrett were left standing in the foyer like discarded trash, surrounded by the mocking stares and flashing cameras of the press corps.
—
The ballroom was stunning, filled with crystal chandeliers, gold-leaf pillars, and five hundred of the city’s most powerful people, including corporate tycoons, S-Rank guildmasters, and council elites.
As Evren and Amber walked into the hall, a hush fell over the entire room.
Five hundred elite guests turned their heads, their conversations dying out in awe as they watched the young chairman and the breathtaking heiress take their seats at the center VIP table.
A moment later, the lights dimmed slightly, and a golden spotlight illuminated the main stage at the front of the hall.
The Master of Ceremonies stepped up to the podium: "Distinguished leaders, tycoons, and guildmasters of the Metropolis... tonight, we celebrate the dawn of a new era for our city."
The announcer gestured toward Table Number One.
"Please give a standing ovation for the keynote address of the evening: The Founder and Guildmaster of Apex Guild, and Chairman of Apex Logistics and Security Fleet... Guildmaster Evren!"
