Chapter 236 : Court of San Fulgen part 2

"Looks like I have quite a few visitors today," I thought.

And sure enough, after the door opened, two men entered the room. Their arrival surprised me.

"Brother Asier and Uncle Louis?" I asked.

The two men who entered my room were Commander Asier and Duke Louis.

"I didn't expect you to call me 'uncle', Rid," said Duke Louis.

"Didn't you tell me to call you 'uncle' when you came to the academy after the academy attack?" I asked.

"Oh, that's right, I forgot about that," said Duke Louis.

"You seem fine, Rid," said Commander Louis.

"Well, at least I'm fine for now. By the way, why did you two come here?" I asked.

"It's because we both want to watch this trial and also because we both want to spare you from any punishment you might receive at this trial," said Commander Asier.

"Free me? Isn't that difficult without solid evidence?" I asked.

"Indeed. Yesterday, I ordered some of my men to go to the Hevea forest and search for any suspicious items that might have been left behind after the incident. They're still searching for those items. I hope the items left behind can be found before this trial ends so that we can at least have solid evidence of what really happened in the forest."

"What about you, Rid? Do you have solid evidence that you're innocent of the incident, since you were directly involved in it?" asked Commander Asier.

"I don't have any evidence that anyone can believe. The only evidence I have is what I heard from the people I killed. Of course, this kind of evidence is weak, because if I speak about it, some people might not believe it and dismiss it as a lie," I said.

"You're right, but verbal evidence can be considered truth if the person who said it was under the influence of mind magic that compels them to tell the truth. But it seems this court doesn't use that method," said Commander Asier.

"I see," I said.

"However, you don't need to worry, Rid. Besides Asier, I'm also gathering suspicious evidence. I'm not collecting evidence of the incident itself, but I am gathering evidence of suspicious activities by Duke San Angela. I've ordered some of my men to infiltrate places frequented by Duke San Angela. If evidence of suspicious activity is found, we can bring Duke San Angela to trial as well. If that happens, many people will think that the incident in Hevea Forest was part of Duke San Angela's suspicious activities, as some of Duke San Angela's knights were even conducting activities outside their assigned areas. I hope that evidence can be found before this trial is over. So, just relax," said Duke Louis.

"Thank you, Brother Asier, Uncle Louis. You two are even willing to do this to get me released," I said.

"We're both doing this because if you're not released and continue to face punishment, someone will be sad," said Duke Louis.

Time passed, and it was now almost 10 a.m. This meant the trial would begin soon.

The door to the waiting room opened, and a soldier appeared behind it, waiting for me to exit.

"Rid Archie, it's time for your trial," one of the knights said.

"Ok," I said.

Then, I walked toward the door to exit the room. After leaving the room, the knights directed me to walk slowly through the courtroom. I saw that the courtroom was now filled with people. The people sitting in the audience were also starting to look at me. They were staring at me with sharp gazes, and some of them were shouting at me.

"Murderer!,"

"Murderer!,"

"Murderer!," they shouted.

None of them supported me. It seemed everyone here was on the side of Duke San Angela. But I ignored the shouts and continued walking slowly. I walked past them, escorted by several knights. At the front of the audience seats on the first floor, to the right, I saw Caroline, Commander Oliver, Commander Asier, and Duke Louis sitting there. The four of them looked at me, and I looked back at them with a smile.

Furthermore, on the other side of the audience seats, to the left, I saw Duke James, Marquess Marcelo, and Commander Luka. Furthermore, I also saw Duke Darwin and Duke San Remy. Duke James, Marquess Marcelo, and Commander Luka were looking at me with sharp gazes, while Duke San Darwin and Duke Remy simply gave me a casual look.

Then I continued walking through the audience seats. Finally, I stopped at a chair in the center of the courtroom. One of the knights escorting me told me to sit down. I immediately sat down while the knights escorting me began to line up behind me. As I sat down, I took in the entire courtroom. It turned out that the courtroom had three floors. The second and third floors of the building were filled with people watching the trial. They stared down with intense gazes. Then, the people on the second and third floors began shouting "murderer!" followed by those on the first floor. The courtroom was filled with a clamor of shouts.

While I was focused on the shouts, I glanced at the large chair in front of me. Since it was on the second floor, I had to tilt my head slightly upwards to see it. I was surprised to see someone sitting in it.

"How long has that person been there?" I thought.

The person sitting there was a man wearing glasses. He wasn't very old, probably around 30. He was looking at me, then he turned to the audience on the second and third floors.

"Everyone, be quiet!" the man said.

The man's voice was loud enough to be heard throughout the courtroom. After he ordered everyone to be quiet, they immediately complied. The courtroom fell silent.

"Since the trial is about to begin, I ask that none of you make any noise or cause any disturbance."

"Before we begin this trial, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Roswald Clementine. I am the chief justice of the Court of San Fulgen and I will be presiding over this trial. Then, let us begin the trial," said Judge Roswald.

Just moments after the trial began, the front door of the courtroom suddenly swung open with a loud bang. Everyone in the room turned toward the front door, except for those on the second and third floors, who couldn't see the front door on the first floor.

When I looked toward the front door, I immediately smiled. Because the person who opened the front door of the courtroom and began to walk inside was Miss Karina. Not only Miss Karina, but Queen Kayana was also with her.

"Looks like we're not late, huh," said Miss Karina.

"No, Kari—I mean, Ms. Principal. We're already a few seconds late because the session has already started," said Queen Kayana.

Those present in the room were immediately surprised. But they weren't surprised by Miss Karina's arrival, but by Queen Kayana's arrival. While everyone was shocked by Queen Kayana's arrival, Miss Karina slowly walked through the audience seats on the first floor. She continued walking until she reached me. However, just as she was about to approach me, the knights lining up behind me immediately stopped her.

"What are you trying to do? Can't you see the trial has already begun?" asked one of the knights.

"So the trial has already begun, huh? Then I apologize for interrupting the proceedings. But there's something I need to tell Your Honor," said Miss Karina.

Lady Karina then took something from her pocket and prepared to throw it.

"Catch this, Your Honor," said Miss Karina.

Miss Karina then threw the object toward Judge Roswald. Judge Roswald caught it perfectly with his right hand. He then looked at what he had caught, which turned out to be a medium-sized crystal stone.

"This device..." said Judge Roswald.

"That device is proof that a major evil plan is underway in this kingdom. And the incident in Hevea Forest is part of that larger evil plan," said Miss Karina.
