Chapter 286 : Message From Duke Louis

The next morning, at the second-year training ground.

We were having morning practice there as usual. All of us except Chloe and Charles had arrived and were practicing there. Even though Charles and Chloe weren't there, they seemed to be focused on their training. I was amazed to see them so focused, even though I knew they were still worried about Charles and Chloe.

While the others were practicing, Irene approached me.

"Did you manage to meet Chloe and Prince Charles last night, Rid?" Irene asked.

"Yes, I did meet them and spoke with them directly. I also gave them some comforting advice, even though I've never comforted anyone before. I hope my advice and words of encouragement can help them calm down," I said.

"I'm sure they'll calm down soon, though it doesn't seem like it today, as they haven't participated in training yet," Irene said.

"No, I'm sure they'll come to practice today. They seem to be late because they have to get ready first," I said.

"Why are you so sure they'll come, Rid? Did they tell you last night they were coming for practice?" Irene asked.

"No, it was just my intuition," I said.

Irene seemed confused by what I said. After that, the two of us went back to practice. A few minutes later, while we were still practicing, a man's voice suddenly came from the hallway leading to the training ground.

"You guys seem to be having fun practicing, can we join you?" the man asked.

Hearing this, we all immediately turned to the hallway. In the hallway, Charles and Chloe were standing, holding their weapons. Noa and the others were shocked to see Charles and Chloe.

"Charles! Chloe!" Noa and the others said.

They immediately rushed over to Charles and Chloe. Irene and I just casually walked over to them.

"I wondered whose voice it was, but it was you, Charles. No wonder your voice sounded familiar," Noa said.

"Are you two okay?" Julie asked.

"Yes, we're both okay. Sorry for worrying you all," Chloe said.

"It's good that you're both okay," Lillian said.

"Since you're back to training, let's have a spar, Charles," Noa said.

"Ok, let's have a spar, Noa," Charles said.

Meanwhile, Irene approached Chloe.

"Are you okay, Chloe?" Irene asked.

"Yes, I'm okay. Sorry for worrying you," Chloe asked.

"No need to apologize," Irene said.

"Okay. Besides, I didn't come to practice yesterday, so I might have been in decline. So, would you like to train with me, Irene?" Chloe said.

"Ok," Irene said.

While Charles and Chloe were chatting with Noa and Irene, I looked over at them. I then remembered the conversation between me and the two of them at the academy lake.

~Flashback~

"What about the reason I gave? Is it strong enough to convince you that your father might not have been involved in the assassination plot?" I asked.

"I didn't expect you to think of such a reason; even I hadn't thought of it at all," said Charles.

"Yeah, I hadn't thought of it either," said Chloe.

"So what about the reason I gave?" I asked.

"This reason seems strong enough, no, very strong enough to convince both of us," said Charles.

"Yes, I also think this reason can be used to convince us. Thank you for your reason, Rid," said Chloe.

"You're welcome, Chloe," I said.

"If our minds are calmer, maybe we can gather with you again tomorrow. Maybe we can even join morning training again," said Charles.

"There's no need to force yourself to participate in morning practice tomorrow if your minds aren't calm yet. If you still need to calm down, go ahead. But don't take too long to calm down, or the others will be very worried about you," I said.

"Ok, Rid," said Charles.

"Then, if your minds have calmed down and you can gather with the others again, don't tell them that I helped you both calm down. Just tell them that you calmed yourselves down on your own," I said.

"Ok, Rid. But why don't you want us to tell them, Rid? What's the reason?" Charles asked.

"No particular reason. I just don't want them to know," I said.

"Ok, Rid. By the way, I forgot to congratulate you, Rid. Congratulations on becoming the new Elevrad chairman, Rid," Charles said.

"Congratulations, Rid," Chloe said.

"So you already knew about it, huh?" I asked.

"Even though we haven't talked or hung out with you all day, we learned about it from overhearing the class. During the afternoon class, the other students were all excited about you becoming the new Elevrad chairman. That's how we both knew about it," Charles said.

"It makes sense that you would know that. Thank you for your congratulations," I said.

"Yes. So, in the future, please help me, chairman," Charles said.

"Don't call me chairman when we're not on Elevrad duty," I said.

~Flashback ends~

-

Charles and Noa started walking towards the center of the training ground for a sparring session, as did Chloe and Irene. As Charles was walking towards the center, he passed me. As he passed me, he spoke softly.

"Thank you for your help earlier, chairman," Charles said.

"I told you not to call me chairman when we're not on Elevrad duty," I said.

At 7:30 a.m.

Charles and Chloe arrived at class with the others. Just like at the practice ground, Charles and Chloe had already returned to their usual routine.

12 p.m.

As the others and I were about to head to the cafeteria for lunch, I saw Miss Karina at the entrance to the central building. Miss Karina appeared to be waiting for someone at the entrance. Miss Karina seemed to notice my presence and turned to look at me. As I was about to pass Miss Karina at the entrance to the central building, I decided to greet her first.

"Good afternoon, Miss. You seem to be waiting for someone. Who are you waiting for?" I asked.

"You," said Miss Karina.

"Me?" I asked, slightly surprised.

"Yes," said Miss Karina.

"It's true that Miss Karina is waiting for someone, but I didn't expect it to be me," I thought.

"What's wrong, miss? Do you need me?" I asked.

"Yes. But don't worry, I won't be long because you and your friends seem to be eager for lunch."

"I waited because I just wanted to give you this," Miss Karina said, handing me an object.

I then looked at the object Miss Karina had given me. It turned out to be a communication crystal.

"A communication crystal?" I asked.

"Yes, I gave you the communication crystal so I could contact you easily. Besides, now that you're the new chairman of Elevrad, I'll definitely always be there for you," Miss Karina said.

"Miss Karina is right. Then thank you for giving me this communication crystal, miss," I said.

"Yes, you're welcome, Rid. Then I'll be going now; I want to rest too," Miss Karina said.

"Ok, miss," I said.

Miss Karina then left the entrance of the central building, while we entered the central building entrance to head to the cafeteria.

That evening, at 7 p.m.

After Irene and I had just finished dinner in my dorm, we heard a knock on my door.

"It looks like you have a visitor, Rid," Irene said.

"I guess so. Let me check on the visitor, you stay here, Irene," I said.

"Ok," Irene said.

I then looked toward the door to sense the aura of the person knocking. The aura of the person knocking on my dorm door belonged to someone I knew. Since it was someone I knew and not suspicious, I immediately went to my dorm door and opened it. After I opened the door, I saw senior Nadine standing in front of my dorm door.

"Good evening, Rid," said senior Nadine.

"Good evening, senior Nadine. What brings you to my dorm?" I asked.

"I just wanted to convey a message from Lord Duke, that he's sent a gift of essential goods to Aston Village, your hometown," said Senior Nadine.

"Have the goods been sent? He said the delivery would take a week at the latest, but he sent them within two days of saying he wanted to send them," I said.

"He said he didn't want to wait too long to send them. Moreover, they were the gifts you requested when he offered them for saving the San Lucia family. That's why he sent them as soon as they were available," said Senior Nadine.

"I see. Please convey my thanks to Uncle Louis, Senior Nadine. Tell him I'm grateful for him sending essential goods to my hometown," I said.

"Ok, I'll pass them on to him. Then, Rid, I'll be going, because that's all I wanted to say. Good night, Rid," said Senior Nadine.

"Yes, good night too, Senior Nadine," I said.

Senior Nadine then walked out of my dorm and headed downstairs.

-

A week later.

As the new year approached, the atmosphere at the academy remained as peaceful as ever. No attacks or suspicious incidents occurred. This was all thanks to Miss Violetta and her knights guarding the academy. Since Miss Violetta and the additional knights had been added, no attacks or suspicious incidents had occurred at the academy. The students were able to continue focusing on their studies and training at the academy.

Meanwhile, at night, at the San Sabaneta Prison.

In front of the San Sabaneta Prison, three figures were seen slowly approaching the prison. They were familiar faces: King Albert, Duchess Claret, and Duchess Harriet. They were all wearing glasses and carrying their own weapons. Judging by the situation, it seemed they were planning to attack the San Sabaneta Prison.
